Elisabeth Moss, Director and Lead Actress in The Handmaid’s Tale is very open and vocal about being a Scientologist. Peter Travers from ABC’s “Popcorn” show, asks her if Scientology gives her stability and she replies easily and openly.

“There’s so much focus on empowerment and respecting yourself and yourself and an individual”

Further she was asked about Scientology on her Instagram account (now deleted) and she replied “Religious Freedom and tolerance and understanding and truth and equal rights for every race, religion and creed are extremely important to me. The most important things to me probably. And so Gilead and THT hit me on a very personal level. Thanks for the interesting question!!”

In The Handmaid’s Tale, the victims of the society in Gilead cannot practice any faith at all. They are not allowed to have any basic human rights. This is the sort of thing that happens when people stop respecting the rights of individuals. The story so closely aligns with the decline of the ability for people to have free thought and free speech that is occurring in the world today.

Scientology being an organization that literally saves people from human rights abuses and educates people on the unlawful seizure of people for political reasons with countless of people saved from involuntary commitment from Psychiatrists, Scientology is making sure that nothing like Gilead ever becomes a reality.

Thank you Elisabeth for being such a great example of showing what happens if we do not defend our rights!
