In this episode of the Don’t Do Nothing Podcast, Gunnar Scharf shares how he became one of the most-watched voices talking openly about Scientology, seen more than 40 million times in under a year, all from Minnesota.

Gunnar is a full-time staff member at the Church of Scientology of Twin Cities who funds his life as a construction consultant. He explains how a friendly competition with another staff member pushed him to start posting, why people all over the world now message him asking “where do I start,” and how he answers them: start with a book, pick one thing you want to handle, and find out for yourself.

He also tells his own story: how his parents found Scientology when he was a kid, how a wrist injury that surgeries couldn’t fix got better after Dianetics counseling, and how he went from partying and drifting off his purpose to dedicating his life to helping people. Along the way he breaks down the ideas that changed how he sees everything, from “misunderstood words” and how to actually study, to why doing things you’re not proud of quietly pulls you away from your own goals.

Text Version:

[00:00:00] Gunnar: This man has been seen more than 40 million times in the last 11 months talking about Scientology. Most people have an innate purpose to do something in life, and probably they experience failures on that purpose. They’re not achieving it anymore in life. Mm-hmm.

[00:00:13] Brad: If you had to kind of describe, like, your life as a full-time Church of Scientology staff member to somebody

[00:00:20] Gunnar: Senior year, broke my wrist, had multiple surgeries.

[00:00:22] Gunnar: They didn’t take, like, they didn’t work. My dad was like, “You should try this Dianetics thing.” Two weeks later, my wrist was, like, good to go. So if someone is looking to get help with Scientology, where do they start?

[00:00:32] Aaron: Guys, today, Gunner Scharf. This man has been seen more than 40 million times in the last 11 months talking about Scientology, talking about real solutions, talking about getting people to move from depression to happiness, from pain to greatness, from alone to being fulfilled and happy.

[00:00:53] Aaron: Gunner Sharp, this guy, honestly, I, I just wanna say we had to bring you on because there is, y- you are really [00:01:00] pioneering what we’re doing as a religion- Mm … and showing people just how to just talk and be open. And I know you kind of stumbled upon it, which we’ll get into that, but you also are a construction consultant, right?

[00:01:10] Aaron: Yep. To make your income. Thank you for coming on, dude. I, I’m so happy that you flew all over from Minnesota to come here, to good old Clearwater, to have a chat with us.

[00:01:18] Gunnar: Yeah. Oh, I’m happy to be here to have a chat with you guys. Let’s go. Let’s get after it.

[00:01:21] Aaron: Let’s do it. But I wanna know, like, just before this, we were talking about how you got into doing this.

[00:01:26] Aaron: Like, how, why, why are you posting about Scientology? You know, it hasn’t historically been done too much. You really brought it to the forefront. Yeah. And, like, how did that even come about where you just start talking about it so openly?

[00:01:39] Gunnar: Well, more of it was, like, um, necessity based on where I’m located.

[00:01:43] Gunnar: I’m, so we’re in sunny Minnesota, and, um-

[00:01:47] Snoda, okay.

[00:01:47] Gunnar: Yeah. And, um, basically, like, there’s not too much Scientology up there, and it actually started before that with a game with other staff members in Scientology, specifically Andy out in San Francisco. [00:02:00] And, um, so it was a bit of a competition, and we were just like, “All right, should we do some social media?”

[00:02:04] Gunnar: We were like, “Yeah, let’s throw some videos out there.” And so decided to just do that. And I was, it was very slow at the start, didn’t really know what to say or do, but in Scientology you have a lot of things you can cover, you know? And so there’s unlimited material to use, and people find it mysterious.

[00:02:20] Gunnar: So I basically just started making videos, and everyone was like, “What are you doing? What are you seriously doing right now?” And I was like, “I don’t know, dude, we’re just making videos.” “Okay. We’re just gonna figure it out.” And so, um, we started doing it. Andy was doing really well, and then I started doing better and better, and then kind of found a niche and, you know, it just kind of rolled from there.

[00:02:38] Gunnar: But yeah, we’ve done, like, 40 million since September is when I started, uh, just of last year. So it’s been almost a year of it.

[00:02:44] Mm-hmm,

[00:02:44] Gunnar: mm-hmm. And, uh, I mean, I’ve had fun with it and, you know, I get to talk to people literally around the world from Minnesota. So it’s been unique in that sense. And, um, it’s helped me to help a lot of people that I never would’ve ever talked to.

[00:02:59] Brad: Yeah.

[00:02:59] Gunnar: Yeah. [00:03:00]

[00:03:00] Brad: Dude, it’s the, I mean, it’s the perfect dissemination program. Like, it- Yeah … I, I’m not saying, like, it’s, it is You can literally hit somebody in freaking Tokyo. Like, I’m sure at some day you’re gonna have somebody from Tokyo who’s gonna come see you in Minnesota to find out, like, how to actually get help-

[00:03:15] Gunnar: Yeah

[00:03:16] Brad: using, like, LRH’s technology.

[00:03:18] Gunnar: Yeah.

[00:03:19] Brad: You know?

[00:03:19] Gunnar: Yeah, I mean, I’ve had guys from- It’s

[00:03:20] Brad: gonna happen …

[00:03:21] Gunnar: a lot of people from Africa, Europe hit me up. A lot of people in the United Kingdom, in London. Mm. Um, and then I direct them to, like, Churches of Scientology there and tell them, like, “Check it out online,” you know, like, “Read a book.”

[00:03:32] Gunnar: Yeah. That’s kinda, like, the stepping stone I take. But I’m setting up calls with people on… I have to do WhatsApp for anybody international. Um, so 50/50 if they got a WhatsApp, right? And then, um- But, but

[00:03:41] Aaron: can’t they just write to you on Instagram?

[00:03:43] Gunnar: Yeah, they, they write to me, but, like, I’m getting so many messages I can’t cover all those messages

[00:03:48] Gunnar: Oh, I

[00:03:48] Aaron: got

[00:03:49] Gunnar: it. And that, I’m starting to get where, like- That’s legit … like, really well-known people get, and I’m like, how do you compartmentalize your time? But obviously people wanna talk to me, so I’m not handing them off to anybody else. I just say, “Call me.” [00:04:00] So- Mm … it’s much faster. I can answer all their questions in, like, five to 10 minutes.

[00:04:04] Gunnar: It usually always goes to an hour and, uh- … that’s just what it is, ’cause one question leads to another, then they want more answers. And most people have a problem of some kind and they’re trying to help themselves with that, and that’s where I get into that.

[00:04:16] Brad: What’s the most common question you get?

[00:04:19] Gunnar: Um, well, first most common is, like, where do I start?

[00:04:22] Gunnar: Like, people are like, “Where do I start?” Which is funny. So it’s like they’re not even like, “What’s with all the mystery? What’s with, you know, what is Scientology?” Some people will ask that, but, like, it’s actually like, “Where do I start?” So they’ve been watching enough of the videos and maybe even stumbled on other people’s videos that they come in kind of like ready to rock a little bit.

[00:04:40] Gunnar: Mm-hmm. Like, they know that I know something, like, and they know we’re onto something. They don’t quite know what. And so that’s when I’m like, “Okay, cool. Let’s, let’s figure out what you, you need and want from me, and then I’ll help you with that.” So that’s the first question. Then it’s what is Scientology?

[00:04:57] Aaron: So hold on. Let’s go back to, let’s go back- Yeah … to that first question. So [00:05:00] it’s a great i- great question, and from the guy who probably directs more people, like, how to start- Yeah … let’s ask you, let’s get it on the record so that way you could always… you send people this video. So if someone is looking to get help with

[00:05:12] Gunnar: Scientology, w- where do they start?

[00:05:16] Gunnar: That’s a good question. I always say start with a book. I push a lot very heavily Dianetics, ’cause it’s very real to people that people have problems mentally.

[00:05:23] Mm-hmm. Yeah.

[00:05:24] Gunnar: Okay? Even successful people, like- Mm-hmm … uh, you know, they create their own barriers, and they don’t really know why. Um, the mental health field, um, and other, like, areas of society don’t necessarily have a solution, right?

[00:05:39] Gunnar: And so, and that’s been going on for a long time, and I look at, like, society right now, and I look at high medication rates, ADHD being labeled in school on children, um, a lot of antidepressants. One in, like, three people I get coming into me to start a service I can’t always deliver to because they’re currently on an antidepressant or something, so it’s gonna make the mind cloudy, [00:06:00] okay?

[00:06:01] Gunnar: And, um, and so, you know, that’s, like, a barrier I run into, and I’m trying to help people get past that barrier. I say read Dianetics. Find out for yourself. Some people pull themselves up by their bootstraps then and, like, actually, like, are like, “That’s the answer.” Mm-hmm. And then they actually take advantage of it, and they are willing to do something to change.

[00:06:20] Gunnar: Um, but I would tell people do that. You can go to scientology.org, and you can, like, find locations of Scientology, like, churches and then just go in that way. There’s lots of information there. I mean, they got so many ways you can, like, get Scientology. Mm-hmm. It’s unbelievable- Mm-hmm … how open it is. And then, uh, scientology.tv, that’s like…

[00:06:38] Gunnar: I mean, it’s an award-winning format that people aren’t actually aware of that we have-

[00:06:43] Mm-hmm …

[00:06:43] Gunnar: with a lot of platforms even for, like, small movie makers and other people that are doing cool things in life. So people can go there, find out. But then it’s kind of like, okay, I deliver services to people that’s either, like, in the form of, like, counsel, so, like, Dianetic counseling, or I would, uh, I would have them do, like, a [00:07:00] course or a class using Scientology distilled down to something that they can, like, apply right now.

[00:07:05] Mm-hmm.

[00:07:06] Gunnar: And just find out for yourself. You know? People always come in and another question they get is like, “Scientology costs money. It’s a rich person’s game.” I’m like, “Okay, I live in an economy, and we deliver service to you. And when we’re delivering service to you, like, that takes staff members time and effort and having a location to do it.

[00:07:24] Gunnar: And so if you wanna do this thing going- called going clear, which is detailed in Dianetics, then that requires energy.” Okay? But for most people, I say like, “We’re not even there yet. Just start with something that’s gonna help put a Band-Aid on something right now. Like, maybe it’ll solve your problem.” But most people, that’s not even real, right?

[00:07:41] Mm-hmm.

[00:07:42] Gunnar: They’ve had something they’re dealing with for, like, 20 years. It’s not real to them. So I just kinda direct them that way. I’ve got people flying in to me in the middle of nowhere, basically, in Minnesota. Mm-hmm. Uh, from like the East Coast, West Coast, down here, Florida, right? And so, um, I tell people to fly in, get on a call, [00:08:00] um, or I direct them into a location and I tell them, “Go get a free session of Dianetics.”

[00:08:04] Gunnar: Mm-hmm. Okay? And get the book, read it. Ask for that. Tell them Gunner sent you.

[00:08:09] Yeah.

[00:08:13] Aaron: So, yeah. So what, what do you find is, like, the biggest- peop- the biggest thing that people have failed to get help with, like- Mm. ‘Cause, um, I, I think most people, this is not the first thing they’re trying to kind of improve whatever problem they have. Or might they be have, might have depression or they might have some, whatever they have, but this is not the first thing they’ve kinda tried.

[00:08:36] Aaron: Right. Right? They’re, they’ve had failures before and, and, and what are those things that you think people are, are generally, like they try to get help and they can’t get it, they haven’t gotten it before?

[00:08:44] Gunnar: Yeah. Well, I think even before that, most people, uh, have a, like an innate purpose.

[00:08:50] Aaron: Mm-hmm.

[00:08:50] Gunnar: You know? And to do something in life, and probably they experience failures on that purpose.

[00:08:55] Mm.

[00:08:55] Gunnar: Right? Like, they’re not achieving it anymore in life.

[00:08:57] Mm-hmm.

[00:08:57] Gunnar: Mm-hmm. ‘Cause you’re a kid, you’re born, you look around, you [00:09:00] go, “Wow, what does it all mean?” Right? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. And you’re like, kinda like oriented to that, and then you immediately get what your parents know.

[00:09:06] Mm-hmm.

[00:09:06] Gunnar: And if they’ve lived a life, it’s sometimes tough.

[00:09:09] Gunnar: Okay? So you’re gonna get that. And then essentially, you know, you go through life, you go to school. Schooling system isn’t great these days, that’s so I’m just gonna say it. You’ve had other people on here talking about that. And, you know, so kids get beat down a little bit. This is the way it is, right? Or

[00:09:23] Aaron: a lot.

[00:09:24] Aaron: Right. Oh, yeah,

[00:09:24] Gunnar: a lot. A lot, a lot. A lot. And they’re supposed to be like these free thinkers and change the future, you know, and now people are labeling them.

[00:09:30] Aaron: Mm-hmm.

[00:09:31] Gunnar: And that’s not okay.

[00:09:32] Aaron: Mm-hmm.

[00:09:32] Gunnar: And so, um, so they get more failures or like losses a- against their purpose, and then, you know, they’re like driven into the workforce, right?

[00:09:40] Gunnar: You gotta do this. You have to go to school. You have to do all these things. And, um, then you take losses on that, right? And so then maybe they start doing things they don’t feel good about, and then they don’t know why they did that, so it leads to more. Just little things. But yeah, so I think that that’s the first underlying thing for most individuals, and that’s my Scientology viewpoint [00:10:00] on it, too.

[00:10:01] Gunnar: Um, and then, you know, people, you know, wanna help themselves with very basic things. I mean, like, it’s like, “Okay, I wish I could pass this exam.” Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. “I wish I could study a bit better.”

[00:10:11] Aaron: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

[00:10:12] Gunnar: Um, some people are like, “I wish I could be a little happier.” You know? Like, and they’ll help themselves by going and seeing like as adults, therapists, right?

[00:10:21] Gunnar: They will get on antidepressants. Uh, maybe they’ll just dive into like so many books, which is good ’cause they’re looking.

[00:10:28] Brad: Yep.

[00:10:28] Gunnar: Right? They know they don’t know something, they’re looking for it. And then they will, you know, they’ll get in other things. And then when they do the stupid things ’cause they’re not on their purpose-

[00:10:37] Brad: Mm

[00:10:37] Gunnar: then they’re really in trouble, and then they’re just like, “That’s life,” and, you know, “That’s how I do it,” and that’s when they run into me typically. And then it’s kinda like, well, what can I do to help them get better control over that situation? But you can’t just be like, “It’s everything.” Pick one thing.

[00:10:50] Brad: Mm.

[00:10:51] Gunnar: You know?

[00:10:51] Brad: Yeah.

[00:10:51] Gunnar: Their attention, ev- people’s attention, even mine, it requires like, what’s the one thing? Point and click.

[00:10:57] Brad: Mm.

[00:10:57] Gunnar: You know? Um, and so [00:11:00] yeah, that’s, that’s what I see that people are running into, and I see like… And then it gets into religion too. Like, I see a lot of people who are like Christian, but they’re like a new Christian, or they’re Buddhist now.

[00:11:12] Gunnar: And, uh, the Buddhist people are spiritual, right? And they read a lot of things. I get a lot of people coming to Scientology like that, and I can already tell that they’re, they’ve had some hard times. They’re looking for something.

[00:11:22] Mm-hmm.

[00:11:22] Gunnar: Right? Especially if they’re newer in that area. And so people look for religion for release, and they get into other practice-y type things like spirituality or like, I don’t know, something having to do with rocks, you know, and star signs-

[00:11:34] Gunnar: and things like that, right? And I’m like, “That’s cool.” You know, and people send me memes on me being a Leo, and that’s great, you know, but it, I don’t give a- Are,

[00:11:41] Aaron: are you a Leo?

[00:11:42] Gunnar: Yeah, technically I’m a Leo. Okay. Okay, okay, okay. But I’ve only been told by like a lot of people.

[00:11:45] Aaron: A lot of people,

[00:11:46] Gunnar: yeah. Okay. I mean, you have the, you have the masculinity, right?

[00:11:47] Gunnar: I haven’t done the research myself. You have the masculinity. I guess so.

[00:11:49] Aaron: But, but you… Do you know, do you know why, do you know why, like, what it means? Do you know why?

[00:11:55] Gunnar: What, being a Leo?

[00:11:55] Aaron: Yeah.

[00:11:56] Gunnar: I mean, I know a lot of what the memes have told me.

[00:11:58] Aaron: Okay. Well, let me, let me… Let, let’s just talk [00:12:00] about this because I used to really follow it a lot.

[00:12:02] Aaron: Like, I’m technically a Cancer.

[00:12:04] Gunnar: Okay.

[00:12:04] Aaron: Um, and so like I would read these things and I’d go like, “Wow. Oh, that’s me,” or, “That fits. No, that doesn’t fit. This. Oh, that…” And, and you kind of make it make sense. And then I find out, and some people might know this, and maybe I look like an idiot not knowing this for like, until I was probably like 23.

[00:12:19] Gunnar: Mm-hmm.

[00:12:20] Aaron: But it’s based on the position of the stars and the planets on that month.

[00:12:26] Gunnar: Okay.

[00:12:26] Aaron: So like you’re born at, say, whatever, January 30th. Well, historically like the position of the stars and the planets around there determine your personality.

[00:12:38] Gunnar: Hmm.

[00:12:38] Aaron: That, that’s actually the, like the concept.

[00:12:40] Gunnar: So that’s

[00:12:41] Aaron: the

[00:12:41] Gunnar: root of it.

[00:12:41] Aaron: That’s the root of it. Okay. It’s actually like astrology, like or- Okay … astronomy or whatever. Astrology, yeah. The horoscope is based on, hey, the moon is there, so therefore I’m gonna be aggressive or I’m gonna be light-

[00:12:52] Gunnar: Right … or I’m gonna be whatever. Just li- like in… Did you know that? Well, that I kinda knew.

[00:12:55] Gunnar: Okay. I just, I couldn’t say it as eloquently as you, but- Okay … uh, yeah. No one can. I think [00:13:00] people have been trying to tell me for a long time, so… ‘Cause apparently, yeah, I got traits of being a Leo, and I’ve seen it in plenty of pictures and memes and stuff, so. Um, which I guess I… And every time I see it, I kinda agree, you know?

[00:13:10] Gunnar: Yeah, yeah. I’m like, “Okay, that, yeah,

[00:13:12] Aaron: that’s probably me,” right? Right, right, right.

[00:13:13] Gunnar: Yeah. And then-

[00:13:14] Aaron: But, but like, uh, does that allow someone to like… Fine, like cool that you get it, but like- How can you ch- you can’t change the position of a planet- No … on the day you were born. Right.

[00:13:26] Gunnar: So

[00:13:26] Aaron: it doesn’t really lead to, like, change.

[00:13:29] Aaron: Yeah. I mean it, right? No,

[00:13:30] Gunnar: I- It doesn’t account for me being my own individual, no. I mean, I feel like I’ve changed a lot even with, like, taking advantage of Dianetics and Scientology. Mm-hmm. So, like, that version of Gunner is not this version of Gunner, right?

[00:13:41] Brad: What… Can you talk about, like, earlier version of, of Gunner?

[00:13:44] Brad: Yeah. And, like, h- like what the change has been like?

[00:13:46] Gunnar: Yeah. Well, I was that kid looking up going, “What does it all mean?” You know? And because of that, like, carefree lifestyle and being a child, I made a lot of friends easily, uh, played sports. I was actually a soccer player, which in Minnesota if you’re not a hockey player you’re toast.

[00:13:59] Gunnar: [00:14:00] Okay? But I got by. And, um, and then, you know, had a great family. Dad’s a dentist, mom’s super mom, right? I… Oldest of five children. Three sisters, one brother. Um, we’re all athletes. We all played sports. We were involved in school, good grades. Um, and I just did the normal stuff that any kid did. Now, my parents found Scientology, uh, when I was, like, six years old.

[00:14:22] Brad: Mm.

[00:14:22] Gunnar: Uh, through, like, actually a consulting company that just applied Scientology to their business. My dad found it to improve his dental practice.

[00:14:29] Brad: Oh, wow.

[00:14:29] Gunnar: And then they were enlightened on some of the services, and my mom, who was the Catholic part of the family, my dad being the Lutheran, like, farm boy from- Mm-hmm

[00:14:37] Gunnar: like, southern Minnesota.

[00:14:38] Brad: I grew up Lutheran.

[00:14:39] Gunnar: Yep. He wasn’t very… Like, they just called themselves that. Yeah. You know? Like, he- Same. Yeah. My mom, super Catholic, went to church, like, twice a week. Um, and so they met, hit it off, and then when they were looking into Scientology she just was, like, the supportive, like, powerful wife and just be like, “Let’s do this together, you know.

[00:14:54] Gunnar: If you wanna do this, I’m gonna support you.” And then she was blown away, he was blown away. Um, that was through a [00:15:00] service in Scientology called auditing, okay? And then basically they didn’t know how to talk about it with us kids, and we were all in private Catholic school. So we just kept going to school, hunky dory, just playing sports, whatever.

[00:15:11] Gunnar: And, um, so I grew up and then we stopped… When I went to public school, stopped going to, like, church basically. And I was one of these kids in church where I’d be sitting there and I’d be yawning the entire time. Mm-hmm. I’d be sleepy. Yeah. And, like, so, like, I knew they were talking about good things. I just…

[00:15:27] Gunnar: It didn’t hit me.

[00:15:28] Mm-hmm.

[00:15:28] Gunnar: Okay? Maybe other people have that experience, I don’t know. Um, and so, uh-

[00:15:33] Brad: Dude, wow, you just made me remember that I was… I would always get sleepy during the s- I would always be, like, so locked in. I’d be like, “The sermon, I’m gonna get the secret.” And then I’m like-

[00:15:44] Gunnar: Yeah.

[00:15:44] Brad: Like- Mm-hmm

[00:15:44] Brad: during.

[00:15:45] Gunnar: Yeah. I

[00:15:45] Brad: forgot about that.

[00:15:46] Gunnar: Yeah. And later in Scientology I find that there were… There’s a concept called misunderstood words- Yep … which is, like, a, the root of problems in education, and you could actually trace it back to being the root of problems in people that grow up to be bad people or criminals, right?

[00:15:59] Gunnar: Mm-hmm. ‘Cause they just… [00:16:00] They have too many misunderstood words. They don’t know what life is, right?

[00:16:03] Aaron: Yeah.

[00:16:04] Gunnar: Um, so anyways- I

[00:16:05] Aaron: need to comment a little bit on that. Yeah. And, and I just, I just wanna say, like- The idea sounds so outlandish

[00:16:14] Hmm

[00:16:15] Aaron: That like you see a word, you don’t know what it means, and like your life can get worse.

[00:16:19] Aaron: And f- I will tell you, like hearing that idea Sounds a bit crazy.

[00:16:25] Yeah.

[00:16:25] Aaron: Like, if you just listen to it, you ne- you never experienced it, you never tried it, it’s like, “Huh? Dude, what do you mean?” Like, dude, every- everybody has words they don’t know, and this. But I will tell you just from personal experience, and I don’t wanna share this, right?

[00:16:36] Aaron: If someone’s following Gunner now, they’re gonna listen to me for a little bit. But, um, when I actually would get it and I would look up the word, understand it, and this, and then it’s like the… things look different, dude. Yeah. The world is brighter. Like, you understand things. You’re… A- and it, it has such a profound change and I just, I just, like, welcome somebody to kind of look and just see, like, [00:17:00] what’s a word that i- in, in your day-to-day life that you either use a lot or someone uses a lot, or it’s in your business, or it’s in something, and you don’t quite know what it means.

[00:17:07] Aaron: Take out a dictionary, like, just look at the word and be like, “Oh, that’s what it is.” And I know as a kid, people had all, even, like, cuss words, they’d be like, “This,” and I’m, and I have no idea what they mean. Right. Oh, wow. And eventually you’d ask them, they’d be like, “Oh, you don’t know what it means?” They don’t even tell you.

[00:17:20] Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:17:21] Aaron: But, but you’re going around and- Yeah, that’s true. That’s true … dude, they don’t tell you. I’m like, “What is,” like, “What does mean?” I’m like, they’re like, “Oh, you don’t know? You’re an idiot.” I’m like, “Bro, I don’t know,” and then I gotta go look it up and it, and, and I’m like, “Oh, okay, fine. That’s what it means.”

[00:17:32] Aaron: But the idea is-

[00:17:34] Brad: Dude, you just gave me

[00:17:34] Aaron: a great idea … you have to, you have to just try it I’m just gonna clear up

[00:17:36] Brad: all my curse words.

[00:17:37] Aaron: Yeah. I, I just, I just invite someone to try this out. Like, there’s also a course called scientology.org/study.

[00:17:43] Brad: Mm.

[00:17:44] Aaron: And you could get the idea direct from L. Ron Hubbard of, like, what this study technology thing is.

[00:17:49] Aaron: Mm-hmm. And, and just try it because I just know that someone will listen to that and not believe it. And you don’t have to believe it. I didn’t believe it, but then you just start looking up the words and you’re like, “Wow.” Dude,

[00:17:59] Gunnar: I had a guy [00:18:00] DM me literally yesterday, and he apparently, like, I don’t know, on profiles on TikTok or Instagram, it’s hard to tell who’s legit or not.

[00:18:07] Gunnar: Yeah. But when they DM you and it’s a good message, then I’m like, “Cool, you’re legit.” But there was a guy DM me, and apparently he, like, trains EMTs, and he literally, his message was- Exactly. What’s an EMT, though? Like, so that’s an emergency medical trainer, I’m pretty sure. I think technician. We should pr- But- Technician?

[00:18:21] Gunnar: We should look it up. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. We should clear the misunderstanding word. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:18:23] Brad: Let’s, uh, we should, uh-

[00:18:24] Gunnar: Anyways

[00:18:24] Aaron: I’ll, while you’re talking, I’m gonna get out my- He’s gonna, he’s gonna, yeah, he’s gonna grab it … I’m gonna pull

[00:18:27] Gunnar: it up. Yeah, this is a live- I’m gonna pull it up, bro … live seminar on- I’m

[00:18:29] Aaron: gonna-

[00:18:29] Aaron: understanding words … this is the EMT. Like, EMT, but sometimes you might even be in the field to be training as an EMT. Yeah. You don’t even know what it means. Yeah,

[00:18:34] Gunnar: yeah.

[00:18:35] Aaron: EMT. Sure. Okay? Abbreviation for emergency medical technician.

[00:18:39] Gunnar: Okay. I was close on

[00:18:41] Aaron: guessing. Yeah, we’re very close. Very close. A person who is trained to provide emergency medical treatment to people who are not in the hospital.

[00:18:48] Gunnar: Right.

[00:18:49] Brad: Oh, so that’s-

[00:18:49] Gunnar: EMT …

[00:18:50] Brad: so that’s the difference between an EMT and a, and a doctor.

[00:18:52] Gunnar: They’re the runners. Right. They’re just external. Right,

[00:18:53] Aaron: right, exactly. So the, the idea is they’re, they’re, they’re out there-

[00:18:57] Brad: Mm …

[00:18:58] Gunnar: in the field- Mm … not in the hospital. Mm. [00:19:00] Okay?

[00:19:00] Aaron: Mm.

[00:19:01] Gunnar: So that’s what it is. Wow. All right, good. So anyways, this guy hit me up and, um, he said, uh, “I’m not a Scientologist” is the way he led with.

[00:19:07] Gunnar: A lot of people do that ’cause they wanna be like, you know, they just want me to know. Okay? Um, but then he was like, “Okay, cool. So I’m not a Scientologist, but I took this concept in a video you had of misunderstood word, and I, like, did an extra 10 minutes of discussing with my new trainees- the words and I like put, printed them out and gave them to them.

[00:19:26] Brad: Mm-hmm.

[00:19:27] Gunnar: And it was way more successful and they got into production way more fast. Really? And I was like, “Oh, that’s awesome, dude.” I just gave him a thumbs up and that was it. That was the whole conversation.

[00:19:36] Brad: Wow.

[00:19:36] Aaron: Bro.

[00:19:36] Gunnar: Yeah. Wow. Well done. Well done. Yeah, thanks.

[00:19:38] Aaron: Wow.

[00:19:39] Brad: Like,

[00:19:39] Aaron: and you don’t have to be a Scientologist to look up words in the dictionary.

[00:19:42] Brad: No.

[00:19:42] Aaron: Like, you really don’t.

[00:19:43] Brad: It’s just- Did Alex Hormozi talk

[00:19:44] Aaron: about

[00:19:45] Brad: how he looks up

[00:19:45] Aaron: words all the time? I mean, how many, bro, I think, how many dictionaries are there? Exactly. A lot. There’s a ton. Yeah, yeah. And they existed way before Scientology. The idea is it’s a lo- it’s a lost kind of art. Yes. Like, people lose interest in it- Yes

[00:19:54] Aaron: with the TikToks and this, and they’re like attention … But dude, open up the dictionary like I just did right now-

[00:19:59] Mm-hmm …

[00:19:59] Aaron: and learn the [00:20:00] words in your field.

[00:20:00] Gunnar: Yeah.

[00:20:01] Aaron: Um, please.

[00:20:03] Gunnar: Yeah. Yeah, there’s actually a whole course in Scientology, I don’t know if you talked about it on here, called The Student Hat. Yeah. And it’s…

[00:20:09] Gunnar: L. Ron Hubbard, he’s the most published author of all time, okay? And founder of Scientology. And he studied a lot of things, and he was a professional in a lot of areas. So he wanted to know some about what would be a barrier to that.

[00:20:20] Mm-hmm.

[00:20:21] Gunnar: Figures out its words, okay? And what is actually happening. What are the manifestations?

[00:20:25] Gunnar: And so laid that out, and on that course, he’s using difficult concepts, and I’ve studied it. And, you know, same thing that happened in church was happening. I, “Oh. Oh,

[00:20:36] I just zoned out.” You know?

[00:20:37] Gunnar: And, like, but he, he does that intentionally to then apply the technology of how you study to get through it, and then understand it so you can sit there and just be, boom, locked in.

[00:20:47] Gunnar: And, um, that was an incredible thing for me. Unfortunately, I learned it after college, so.

[00:20:52] Aaron: Yeah.

[00:20:53] Gunnar: Yeah.

[00:20:53] Aaron: Yeah, I actually, you, I, I was listening to an interview you did, and you… So you graduated from the University of Minnesota.

[00:20:57] Gunnar: Yep. Uh, what did you study? Uh, I studied [00:21:00] business. Studied business. It was, um, major in marketing, minor in, like, international business.

[00:21:05] Gunnar: And, um, that was just, like, really broad, general things, you know what I’m saying? Yeah. And, like, I went into school not necessarily knowing what I wanted to do because, you know, that original purpose of, like, being a professional soccer player or famous or something like that, like, that was kind of dead at that time.

[00:21:20] Gunnar: And then- But

[00:21:21] Aaron: you

[00:21:21] Gunnar: are

[00:21:21] Aaron: famous now, though.

[00:21:22] Gunnar: Maybe a little bit.

[00:21:23] Aaron: You are famous

[00:21:23] Gunnar: now, though. Maybe a little bit. Okay. Um, and you know, so then it turned into, like, just do what everyone else does- Yeah … which is go to school and, you know, get a degree. And I got into a good program. Their business program at the university is very good.

[00:21:35] Gunnar: Um- Do you

[00:21:36] Brad: consider you’re a Scientologist at this time in your life, or what’s-

[00:21:39] Gunnar: No, I wouldn’t consider that, but I kind of was, like, on the, I was on the fringe of that. Yeah. Um, basically I had a, a bad injury from sports in high school, senior year. Broke my wrist, had multiple surgeries. They didn’t take, like, they didn’t work.

[00:21:52] Gunnar: Told me I need a third one, and I was, like, basically at my rock bottom. And so that’s kind of when my dad was like, “You should try this Dianetics thing.”

[00:21:59] Mm.

[00:21:59] Gunnar: I was like, “Dude, I’ll [00:22:00] try anything.” So brought me to the church. There was a guy who wasn’t even a Scientologist, but he was trained in the technique of Dianetics at the time, and took me in what’s called a session.

[00:22:10] Gunnar: And it’s basically going back to the moment the injury happens or, like, to get to that point, what other, like, the surgeries where I was obviously unconscious. Yeah. And you basically get back that unconscious period of being in pain or trauma, and then it relieves tension on your mind. That’s essentially what it did, which is a funny concept that then, like, two weeks later my wrist was, like, good to go.

[00:22:32] Hmm.

[00:22:33] Gunnar: I, the- Imagine that … for me to break that down, I know why that is.

[00:22:36] Mm.

[00:22:36] Gunnar: To break that down right here is gonna be like a whole can of worms- Mm-hmm … but you should just read Dianetics. Yeah. Okay? And, um- And so then basically I was like, oh, so my reality of my dad and Scientology and whatever was like whatever all my friends say.

[00:22:47] Gunnar: They’re like, “It’s weird, it’s this thing.” And I’m like, “Okay. Maybe, but my dad’s a good dude,” so I’m like conflicting. And then it, then I had that and I was like, “Damn, that’s the thing.”

[00:22:59] Brad: Mm.

[00:22:59] Gunnar: So [00:23:00] there’s some truth there, so my reality of my dad went like boom.

[00:23:03] Brad: Oh.

[00:23:03] Gunnar: This other one was down here, so I kinda left all my friends in the dust on that one.

[00:23:07] Gunnar: But then I go, go to college and then I’m back on their playing field, and I’m like, cool. It’s like drugs and partying and girls- Mm-hmm … and sports still, you know? And the gym or whatever. And, um, so just did that and, you know, but I would kinda like… My dad would pick me up, we’d go on course every now and then, tools on like how to overcome ups and downs in life so you get off that rollercoaster of life, and, uh, know who you can trust and stuff, and they were helpful, but I was also being out ethics and, uh, personally, and doing like stupid things.

[00:23:33] Aaron: And what would that mean to you?

[00:23:34] Gunnar: Yeah. What does

[00:23:35] Aaron: like an out ethics mean?

[00:23:37] Gunnar: Uh, I mean, you know, ethics is personal to the individual, right? Like, uh, nobody’s gonna be harder on themselves than themselves. Like a hardened criminal sitting in prison is actually harder on themselves than what the prison’s doing to

[00:23:49] them.

[00:23:49] Mm-hmm. Yeah.

[00:23:50] Gunnar: You know what I’m saying?

[00:23:50] Mm-hmm.

[00:23:51] Gunnar: Uh, it, the prison system amplifies that. But, uh, you know, it would be like you violate a moral code of society, okay? [00:24:00] You steal, you, you lie, you cheat, right? And you know inherently it’s wrong. And so then you would be like out ethics, ’cause you are naturally a good person or ethical, right?

[00:24:14] Gunnar: Especially as a child. Perfect. You know? And, um, and so then you just kinda like minimize your own true potential because now you can’t reach things that you’ve wronged, right? So you’re like, “Ah, I don’t know. Look at that later.”

[00:24:25] Brad: Right. Let, let, let… I wanna emphasize that. You said you can’t reach things that you’ve wronged.

[00:24:31] Gunnar: Mm-hmm.

[00:24:31] Brad: I think that this is one of like the… Uh, for me anyways, this was like the like f- mind blown emoji thing that I experienced in Scientology very early on Is that, like, can, can you break that down further, like the idea of not being able to reach? I mean, give an example like- Or yeah, an example would be good

[00:24:47] Brad: that when

[00:24:48] Aaron: something like that happened to you, like what- Mm-hmm … what would, what is

[00:24:51] Gunnar: the time that happened to you? Oh, God, so many, dude. Um, I mean, okay, good, like [00:25:00] if you cheat on a test.

[00:25:01] Brad: Yeah.

[00:25:02] Gunnar: Okay, right. First of all, I’m cheating on a test because I don’t know the material because I don’t know the words.

[00:25:06] Brad: Mm-hmm.

[00:25:07] Gunnar: Right? Oh, geez. So that’s in college. Yeah.

[00:25:09] Brad: Okay. All comes

[00:25:10] Gunnar: back to the words. Uh, so it, it all comes full circle. Yeah. All right? But, um, so that’s the start, but then it’s like, okay, you do that more often, right? Because you’re trying to pass tests because they force you to, like, just pass exams.

[00:25:20] Mm.

[00:25:20] Gunnar: It’s not do you know and understand the full, can you apply this concept to life?

[00:25:24] Gunnar: It’s not that in school. It’s like, “Can you pass our test?” Mm. So I, you know, I like s- get like cheat sheets or whatever. Like, you know, I take like one of these big calculators, and I write like little things on the inside of it, you know, like formulas, right? Because I can’t memorize those, and I just, I mean, you know.

[00:25:38] Gunnar: So if you do that, now you are now automatically doing something that violates the moral code of school, which is like, “Don’t cheat on our tests.” Mm-hmm.

[00:25:45] Yeah.

[00:25:45] Gunnar: Right? And actually apply yourself and study. I was too busy partying. I wasn’t applying myself to study. I was there to learn about life, right? Yeah.

[00:25:51] Gunnar: Mm-hmm. That’s college. And, um, and so then as a result of that, I could no longer take responsibility for the material or the class or [00:26:00] myself in study. So then I’d just back away further. So I would stop going to class, and I would, like, just sit at the apartment and like hang out with the homies, and I would do that more often.

[00:26:11] Gunnar: And then I would just like memorize faster and like now you get into a point where like maybe even you’re like getting into drugs or something like that to focus because you’re like, “I can’t focus.” Right? Mm. And that’s very prevalent in school now. Yeah. Kids will cram the last day before an exam, right?

[00:26:26] Gunnar: And so that’s an example, though, of not being able to be, like, in control over your- yourself and that material.

[00:26:33] Brad: Mm-hmm.

[00:26:33] Gunnar: So you didn’t learn it. You memorized it. It’s gonna be gone in like a few months.

[00:26:37] Brad: Yep.

[00:26:37] Gunnar: Okay? And now you can no longer influence that area of life. So I was not influencing my education, right?

[00:26:45] Gunnar: It’s like this thing that is discovered in Scientology too is like, and other religions have seen this too, like when you are like committing harmful acts or doing things that violate your personal integrity Then you back away.

[00:26:57] Mm.

[00:26:58] Gunnar: I mean, to give another example, [00:27:00] just like husbands and wives in America, right?

[00:27:02] Gunnar: Like, uh, you guys are married- Mm-hmm … right? Okay, great. And you guys are very open with your spouses, and they th- they with you, right? And you have great marriages. But in America, like marriage rates are going down- Mm-hmm … divorce rates are going up.

[00:27:14] Brad: Mm-hmm. Yeah.

[00:27:15] Gunnar: Right? And I just know that the nature of people is that, like, they do something that violates an agreement, that’s a moral code, okay?

[00:27:22] Gunnar: So then they call it out ethics, like, okay, left the dishes out, whatever. Small, and then it builds up, and then pretty soon you got husband A cheating on wife B, right? And he doesn’t talk about it. So now he can no longer take responsibility for the relationship, so he backs away. Hmm. And then continues to do that.

[00:27:37] Gunnar: So you’re no longer in control of the situation or life. And this is what basically happens to criminals at a young age, and then they can’t stop.

[00:27:45] Mm-hmm.

[00:27:45] Gunnar: Right? And so anyways, that’s what I mean by like not being able to like influence or reach something.

[00:27:50] Yeah.

[00:27:50] Gunnar: Like, he know she’s over there and he’s doing bad things.

[00:27:53] Gunnar: It’s in here in his mind. He’s like, “I’m gonna stay over here, and I’m gonna go keep doing those bad things.”

[00:27:57] Aaron: Mm-hmm.

[00:27:57] Brad: Yeah. Yeah.

[00:27:58] Aaron: So let’s say, let’s say [00:28:00] it’s happening, ’cause I, I mean, it’s happened with me, it’s happened with you, it’s happened to everyone here. Yeah. Totally. Oh, yeah. Um, I, I think it happens to every single human being- Absolutely

[00:28:07] Aaron: on Earth. I mean, like, it’s the thing. You, you, you- You get enough opportunities … mess up, but you get wor- Like, you get a lot of opportunities, okay? Yeah. Um-

[00:28:14] Brad: A lot of shots on goal

[00:28:15] Aaron: And so let’s say that’s happened and someone no longer is following their dream. They’re no longer believing that, you know, change is possible, that help is possible, that they could change, that there’s something better out there for them.

[00:28:27] Aaron: So how do you undo this kind of like downward trend or like this, this- Mm … this sort of decay that happens personally? Yeah. Well, I mean, you would have to realistically realize

[00:28:38] Gunnar: you’re in a dangerous situation, right? And then like stop the bleeding.

[00:28:41] Mm-hmm.

[00:28:41] Gunnar: Mm-hmm. Okay? So you have to be willing to do something- Mm-hmm

[00:28:44] Gunnar: about it. Most people, that’s when they turn to a different religion, that’s when they like move out of state, you know, get away from people. Like they go on a spiritual journey. Like now it’s like a thing to like go take drugs, which just- Mm … then I see those people leading to more of that, right? Mm-hmm.

[00:28:58] Gunnar: Mm-hmm. And so, you [00:29:00] know, people wanna stop that, and, um, that is when I deal with most people is like they’re up to need of change in their life and they’re like, “Okay. Do you guys know something we don’t?” You know, like-

[00:29:10] Mm … “

[00:29:10] Gunnar: Let’s talk about it.” Okay? And, and those are the people that I like to work with. But sometimes you gotta take a person from like the bottom of the barrel.

[00:29:18] Gunnar: Like let them know, “Hey, first of all, you have a problem.” Okay. It’s a little one. Like they might not see it, you know, house is on fire. They’re like, “What’s the problem?” So, you know, I get like- The dog

[00:29:27] Brad: in the meme.

[00:29:28] Gunnar: Right. Exactly. Yeah. So it’s like, okay, so you gotta like establish what is the problem for them and then like move them up to the point of like seeing that like a little bit of help is possible.

[00:29:38] Brad: Mm-hmm.

[00:29:38] Mm-hmm.

[00:29:38] Gunnar: And then like let’s get control over whatever that is, right? Because most people are at the point where they’ve done all the bad things, so they’re not reaching in life, which means they’re not even reaching themselves, right? So they’ve even backed up from being this person that has a purpose when they were a child.

[00:29:51] Brad: Wow, they’re not even reaching themselves.

[00:29:53] Gunnar: Yeah. Like they’re- True … so far removed from like what their goals and purposes in life are.

[00:29:58] Brad: Mm.

[00:29:58] Gunnar: That is, they’re not [00:30:00] flourishing and prospering, expanding nothing anymore.

[00:30:02] Brad: Yeah.

[00:30:02] Gunnar: Um, and so it’s like take them from like wherever they’re at, like whether they’re numb or they’re in disaster or whatever things, they’re in confusion, move them up and into a point where they like see that- What they’re doing or what’s happening to them is affecting them in life, personally, in relationships, at work, whatever.

[00:30:22] Gunnar: And then let’s get them up to, like, doing something about it, a need of, like, change, and then, like, moving them through that. And most people have a ruin in life, like something that’s messing them up. And so, like, uh, like for example me, I’m just gonna be transparent. On the phone, when a person messages me on Instagram or TikTok, uh, they go like, “We have got questions about Scientology.”

[00:30:41] Gunnar: “Well, that’s happening every day. I can’t text you. Okay? It’s not happening.” So I go, “Call me.” So they call me, and I’m gonna run through like, “Okay, first of all, hi, who are you? Like, what is your life? What are you interested in? Like, what do you do? Family, like, where you at?” And then I’m like, “Okay, cool.” Like, um, “Okay, so what do you know about [00:31:00] Scientology?”

[00:31:00] Gunnar: I always get that out of the way because that’s what I’m doing in my videos. Mm-hmm. And people are curious, and they have heard everything, and I’ve heard everything-

[00:31:06] Yeah …

[00:31:07] Gunnar: um, on both sides. And so then I answer those, and then I’m like, “Okay, what’s ruining you? Like, what’s upsetting you right now? Why are you actually interested in asking questions about me?

[00:31:16] Gunnar: You’re not just interested. I even don’t go ask questions to other people unless I’m not solving something and I wanna know what they have.” Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah, right.

[00:31:24] Yeah.

[00:31:24] Gunnar: So then they do that, I give them that, and then I book them to come in or go into a church or read a book or whatever. Whatever is, like, a good gradient for them.

[00:31:32] Brad: Mm.

[00:31:33] Gunnar: Yeah. That’s fabulous. I hope that answers the question.

[00:31:36] Brad: That’s a great answer to the

[00:31:37] Aaron: question. Yeah, and, and I think what’s… I, I like, I like what you said earlier about, like, picking one thing. Yeah. Because the, the truth is, uh, guys, and, and, and it’s very real to me, but, like, Scientology could be used in anything in your life.

[00:31:51] Aaron: Totally. But it’s too broad. Like, you can’t explain, dude. Like, literally there is thousands, maybe tens of thousands of hours of, like, [00:32:00] what is Scientology on Scientology TV, on our podcast, on your channel. Like, you could just spend forever, like, learning about it.

[00:32:07] Gunnar: Yeah.

[00:32:08] Aaron: But that’s not the point.

[00:32:09] Gunnar: Mm-hmm.

[00:32:09] Aaron: We’re not gonna give you a test of, like, what is Scientol- like it’s…

[00:32:12] Aaron: That’s, that’s not the purpose.

[00:32:13] Gunnar: Right.

[00:32:13] Aaron: But if you pick one thing, this, I, I wanna… Like, I’m having trouble with my marriage, I want help with that.

[00:32:20] Gunnar: Mm-hmm.

[00:32:20] Aaron: Trouble with their wrist, it could be a physical thing, right? Dianetics means through mind. Yeah. What the mind is doing to the body. You’ve tried other stuff, and you wanna see, like, is there a thing you can do physically.

[00:32:29] Aaron: Cool, then, then talk about that.

[00:32:30] Gunnar: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Or

[00:32:31] Aaron: whatever it is, but pick one. So if you’re gonna write to Gunnar, guys- Find out, like work out for yourself what is that one thing that you wanna improve, and if you don’t know what it is, fine. You, you could reach out and, and someone can help. I didn’t know what it was when I walked in- Yeah

[00:32:44] Aaron: and someone kind of showed me, like with a personality test. What about the person- Dude, are you, are you using the personality test a lot, uh, when you deal

[00:32:51] Gunnar: with people or no? Um, there’s a lot of people, like we have systems at like Churches of Scientology where like a person fills one out online, personality test, then it’ll, based on [00:33:00] geolocation, go to the nearest Church of Scientology.

[00:33:01] Gunnar: Mm-hmm. And then I’ll email or call you if you left an email or a phone number, and I’ll just try and give you an evaluation. I use that, yep. In Scientology specifically, um, I use it ’cause I wanna see before and after the traits of a personality improve- Mm-hmm … or at least change. Mm-hmm. I wanna see some change on the graph.

[00:33:17] Brad: Mm-hmm.

[00:33:17] Gunnar: So people will take that test before doing like Dianetics and after doing Dianetics, and you’ll see a dramatic change.

[00:33:22] Brad: Mm-hmm.

[00:33:23] Gunnar: The questions don’t change, it’s the people’s answers change, right? Yeah. How they’re feeling right now, that gives you accuracy. Um, and that’s what I really use it for, and it’s like person has their own observation, which is like, how do you observe anything?

[00:33:34] Gunnar: Well, you use your eyes, your ears, your mouth, your senses, and you’re like, your mind is like, “Okay, I’m having this thought right now. Did I have that before? I don’t know.” And then you look at that and then you can be like, “Okay, see these points? They went up. Your IQ improved.”

[00:33:46] Brad: Yep.

[00:33:46] Gunnar: You know, your aptitude improved.

[00:33:49] Gunnar: And I’m like… And then they’re like, “Yeah, it probably did, actually. That’s probably what that thought was.” You know? And so it’s a good tool to use for us to make sure that what we’re delivering in Churches of Scientology are [00:34:00] working.

[00:34:00] Mm-hmm. Yeah.

[00:34:00] Gunnar: Along with their statements of it’s working, right? And that’s really what nobody can fault in Scientology-

[00:34:08] Mm

[00:34:08] Gunnar: is the statements of workability, which is why in the face of like all the weird stuff that people say we are or do, whether, whether they know or not where that comes from We exist and continue, and I think that’s what people also like about wanting to reach out to me, ’cause they’re like, it snaps their mind a little bit to be like…

[00:34:29] Gunnar: So I’ve heard Sci- scientologists are like, like gargoyle people. Weird people, you know? And then they see like me and I’m, you know, not necessarily that in their eyes, and they’re like, “It doesn’t make sense.” So they’re calling me and they’re like, “I’ve heard all the bad stuff, but why are you ex- why do you exist?”

[00:34:45] Brad: Yeah. “What

[00:34:46] Gunnar: are you doing? Why are you still here?”

[00:34:48] Brad: Yeah.

[00:34:48] Gunnar: You know? Yeah. And a lot of people come in because of that. It’s pretty wild.

[00:34:51] Brad: You work at a church. Mm-hmm. It’s full, full-time job.

[00:34:54] Gunnar: Yeah.

[00:34:55] Brad: Right? And you spent several years doing a- Yeah … very full, [00:35:00] full-time training program, like super, like, in-depth, learning how to be the most professional Scientologist possible.

[00:35:07] Gunnar: Yeah.

[00:35:07] Brad: My question is, why did you decide to go from a public who is like, “Oh, Scientology can help me with my wrist,” to, “Hey, I wanna actually just help people with this all day, every day”?

[00:35:18] Gunnar: Mm. Uh, first, I mean, the reason I did that is ’cause responsibility came up. That’s really ultimately what happened.

[00:35:25] Yeah.

[00:35:26] Gunnar: But it’s like to just say, oh, responsibility goes up, some people don’t even know what responsibility means.

[00:35:31] Yeah.

[00:35:31] Gunnar: Right? But it was like wanting to help others, okay? So if I just dumb it down there, wanting to help others. The reason I wanted to do that for others was because I just took advantage of. It wasn’t like, oh, I like had the privilege of.

[00:35:44] Gunnar: Like, I did, but like I took advantage of it. I was like, all right. For me, I had that one session on Dianetics, fixed this wrist, okay? And it worked.

[00:35:52] Brad: When you say you took advantage of it, like you, you- Of Scientology … used it- Yeah … and it helped you.

[00:35:55] Gunnar: Exactly.

[00:35:56] Brad: Yeah. Exactly. Makes sense.

[00:35:57] Gunnar: But like I also, and I’m getting to [00:36:00] this too, is like it was for my own survival.

[00:36:03] Gunnar: If that makes sense. I wasn’t thinking about other people.

[00:36:04] Brad: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

[00:36:05] Gunnar: Self-interested. I was thinking like, “Gunner needs to s- to live.”

[00:36:08] Brad: Yeah.

[00:36:08] Gunnar: Okay? Really well. Like, almost to the point of, like to a fault of being like, he needs an edge,

[00:36:13] Brad: you know,

[00:36:13] Gunnar: over other people.

[00:36:14] Brad: Mm-hmm.

[00:36:14] Gunnar: Right? Like- Wow … it’s me against everyone else.

[00:36:16] Gunnar: I need to survive right now. Like, I have problems.

[00:36:19] Mm-hmm.

[00:36:19] Gunnar: Okay?

[00:36:20] Yeah.

[00:36:20] Gunnar: Um, and from a mental, spiritual perspective, like, yeah, I wanted that to be at, at the highest level, okay? And so like in college, finding out that Dianetics worked was really eye-opening, ’cause then I was like, “Wow, I can be like the best version of me and like really survive-” And I just gotta get there fast.

[00:36:37] Gunnar: So there was this concept of clear, which is in Dianetics, so I brought that up. I wanted that. That meant freedom to me, right? So, okay, so I go take advantage of it, and I just, like, do all the steps you would do to go clear per that book. And it was, like, as I went up that route, which is a doing-ness, it’s not just a sitting there, like, thinking-ness, okay?

[00:36:57] Gunnar: I, uh, found out more about myself and my [00:37:00] potentialities- Mm-hmm … and, like, definitely, like, got rid of things that weren’t me, just built up from life, right? And in then achieving that state, uh, which in Scientology you have to use something called an auditor, which means one who listens, if you haven’t brought that up before.

[00:37:15] Gunnar: And I’m just gonna put a plug in for my boy in Minnesota. He’s, like, top auditor on planet Earth, okay? In my level of Church of Scientology. His name’s Dallas. It’s a name as big as Texas, okay? And he’s a good dude. Um, so, uh, Dallas cleared me using Dianetics and Scientology tools with one of those devices you’ve seen in my videos called an E-meter.

[00:37:36] Mm-hmm.

[00:37:36] Gunnar: Okay? And, um, that helps locate charge in the mind, remove all that, get back to square one, which is just me with all my potentials, and then I was clear. And then I was like, “Wow,” new level of awareness of people, society, and realized if that’s what Scientology’s giving people through Dianetics, I g- I gotta do that for others.

[00:37:57] Hmm.

[00:37:57] Gunnar: And that’s when I started to take responsibility and [00:38:00] decided I’m gonna be on staff, and I’m gonna help these guys, like, shoulder to shoulder effort. And it’s… Wasn’t an easy thing to confront, you know? And, but I did it.

[00:38:10] Brad: Yeah.

[00:38:10] Gunnar: And I continue to do it, and I’ve been doing that for the last eight years.

[00:38:13] Brad: Wow.

[00:38:13] Gunnar: Yeah. Well done, bro. Thanks, man.

[00:38:15] Aaron: Is there, is there something that you saw kind of in the world that needed change? Like-

[00:38:21] Gunnar: So many things.

[00:38:22] Aaron: Yeah, so wh- what is, what is- No, no, we gotta pick one. Wait, wait, wait. Ah. Like, what wa- what’s, like, the thing that you ha- saw then but maybe even see now that you’re like, “Damn, I, I, I really wish this could change”?

[00:38:36] Gunnar: Hmm. I mean, I’m such a social person. I have so many friends, and most of my friends, mind you, are not Scientologists. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. And they are all like me. So I just saw now, from a totally different vantage point, what those guys are dealing with, what my friends are dealing with and they’re not talking about And I was like, that’s what I was dealing with, and no one could tell, [00:39:00] you know?

[00:39:01] Gunnar: And- Oh, dude, that’s so real to me … you see you at a party, be

[00:39:02] Brad: like,

[00:39:03] Gunnar: you see you at a party like, “How’s work? How’s, how’s school? You know, how’s your girlfriend? How’s the weather?” You know? I’m like, “All right, cool. Same four questions, like ch- checking off,” but you never be like, “How are you really doing?” Mm-hmm.

[00:39:14] Gunnar: You know what I’m saying? And so that was like what I saw, ’cause I got that level of help, right? And-

[00:39:21] Brad: Level of help that went beyond the-

[00:39:22] Gunnar: It went beyond like the surface … the social- Social, like- Mm-hmm. Yeah … this like veneer, this thing you put up and everyone sees the facade. Mm-hmm.

[00:39:28] Brad: Mm-hmm.

[00:39:28] Gunnar: Right? And, um, then I was like, “Okay, I need to give that to other people.”

[00:39:33] Gunnar: And you can look at, that’s on the macro, right? Or sorry, I guess that would be like, like the mic- The micro is smaller, yeah, yeah. That’s the micro. Mm-hmm. And the macro would be like looking at like war, slavery, sex trafficking, drugging, what, all the social societal ills you see around the world.

[00:39:50] Mm-hmm.

[00:39:50] Gunnar: And being like, like if you can help one person, like that’s really how you have to do it, right?

[00:39:56] Gunnar: Yeah. Is like big groups, they don’t think rationally. So it’s [00:40:00] one person and like makes a ripple effect and make a bunch of people way more able, and they go out and influence other people, and that’s kind of, that’s kind of what I do. That’s the job.

[00:40:08] Brad: Yeah.

[00:40:08] Gunnar: You know, make an able person more able here. He goes out and he influences 100 people over here.

[00:40:14] Gunnar: Like, look at me, I’m an example of that. I was influencing my friend group through college and the start of work.

[00:40:19] Brad: Mm-hmm.

[00:40:20] Gunnar: And then by the time I’m clear and on staff, I’m now influencing hundreds of people, and then thousands, and now like we could argue that I’m influencing millions.

[00:40:27] Brad: Absolutely.

[00:40:28] Gunnar: But like, you know, that’s still not enough ’cause there’s billions of people on Earth and there’s a lot of problems, so.

[00:40:34] Gunnar: Um, but that’s, that’s kinda why. That’s when that flipped for me. It was around that time period, and that’s what I really wanna do. So that’s why I’m on staff, and um, it’s the, the greatest pleasure I’ve ever had, and it’s really my purpose, is to help. And I think most people have that in them. Mm-hmm.

[00:40:51] Brad: Mm-hmm.

[00:40:52] Gunnar: They do it in different ways, you know? And um, I like it. Right. Yeah. Yeah, man.

[00:40:59] Brad: Good [00:41:00] dude. What, uh, if you had to kind of describe, like, your life as a full-time Church of Scientology staff member to somebody who’s never even been inside a Church of Scientology- Right … how would you describe it to them?

[00:41:13] Gunnar: Uh, I mean, it’s not the most…

[00:41:15] Gunnar: It, it could be more structured. Like, it, like, it depends on how many staff you have. Like- Mm … Churches of Scientology have staff, okay? Staff members, they wear the uniforms like I wear on my social media. I happen to wear a vest, okay, with a tie. People love it, I think. And, um- I

[00:41:29] Brad: think they love it.

[00:41:30] Gunnar: Yeah, yeah.

[00:41:31] Gunnar: And, um-

[00:41:32] Brad: You don’t do the jacket though, right? I don’t, um- I don’t think I’ve ever seen you with a jacket …

[00:41:34] Gunnar: Andy wears the jacket up in San Francisco. I love Andy in the jacket. He’s like the good dad, you know? Yeah. And I’m kind of the wild man. So- … I wore short sleeves the other day, and it, like, blew up the internet, like, “He’s wearing short sleeves today, guys.”

[00:41:48] Gunnar: Okay? People found out I go to the gym, you know? But, um, anyways, like, you have a structure in a Church of Scientology, which is actually something that anybody off the street can study for any organization. Like, Scientologists apply it to [00:42:00] their business. That, that alone- You guys do it to your businesses, you know?

[00:42:02] Brad: Yeah. And you- If you were to pick one thing, that one thing is a freaking game changer for a business …

[00:42:05] Gunnar: for anybody in business, yeah. Yeah. Like, definitely, like, Scientology administrative policy is, like, bar none. Like, standard across the board, and anybody can pick it up and learn it.

[00:42:13] Brad: Yeah.

[00:42:13] Gunnar: Okay? But, um, so we apply that to our churches, and then, you know, you’re given the, the complement of staff you have, which always comes down to a conversation, just like it does to help salvage a person or give a person an answer or a solution.

[00:42:25] Brad: Hold on. Wait, you, you actually said something. You said you had y- your complement of staff that you have?

[00:42:29] Gunnar: Yeah.

[00:42:29] Brad: What, what do you mean? What does that mean?

[00:42:31] Gunnar: Like, there’s, there’s public who do Scientology. There’s people that do it, okay? And if they have, like, an experience like mine that improves their life, and then they, their responsibility comes up for others- Then they’ll be like, you know, a sta- somebody might talk to them and be like, “Hey, you should join us, you know, in this effort to help others.”

[00:42:49] Gunnar: And then you can be like, “Okay, I can do that part-time, full-time, whatever.” Okay? There’s nuance to that. But then, you know, if you decide to join staff, then you’re like, “I’m a staff member, and I show up and I [00:43:00] help other people, like, deliver the technology of Dianetics and Scientology to people.”

[00:43:04] Mm.

[00:43:05] Gunnar: But every organization has posts and positions, you know, like in order to facilitate having a person go clear, takes a lot of different people.

[00:43:15] Gunnar: Yeah. There’s an administrative side, there’s a technical side, right? And so a church is organized around delivering to people. It’s not organized for us or our purposes. Mm-hmm. It’s like, how do I best help this person that walks in the door? How do you move them through the organization so that they get a product that they’re gonna go see out in life-

[00:43:32] Mm

[00:43:32] Gunnar: for themselves? That’s, that’s how we’re organized. So I hold a position, and I’m responsible, for example, at my church, promotion.

[00:43:42] Mm-hmm.

[00:43:42] Gunnar: So I do that, right? So got into social media, great. Easy, free form of promotion. Um, I’m also responsible for the delivery of the Dianetics and Scientology in that church.

[00:43:53] Gunnar: So if people wanna fly in ’cause they talked to me through the promotion, I go, “Cool, I can deliver.” And then I make sure my technical staff, who are technically [00:44:00] trained in techniques of Dianetics and Scientology, are going to deliver, and I make sure it’s a good product.

[00:44:05] Mm.

[00:44:06] Gunnar: Meaning the person walks out ear to ear grin, like, “I’m gonna conquer the world,” or whatever it is they’re trying to solve, they walk out with that.

[00:44:13] Mm-hmm.

[00:44:13] Gunnar: And I don’t care if they call themselves a Scientologist or not.

[00:44:15] Yep.

[00:44:16] Gunnar: I really don’t. Be the best Christian in the world, uh, the best anything in the world you wanna be. Uh, and you can use Dianetics and

[00:44:24] Scientology. Mm.

[00:44:24] Gunnar: Right?

[00:44:25] Mm-hmm.

[00:44:25] Gunnar: And if you wanna call yourself a Scientologist, that’s up to you.

[00:44:27] Yeah.

[00:44:28] Gunnar: You know? And, um, so anyways, but that’s how a church organization exists, and so I… My whole job is clear people. That’s what I do. And then train people to know how to do it and do it for your friends and family.

[00:44:39] Mm.

[00:44:39] Gunnar: Okay? And, um, the staff compliments are like daytime staff, which is what I am, ’cause I like my nights and weekends.

[00:44:45] Gunnar: Uh, I’m a gym junkie, and I like… You know, I got a motorcycle. I like to hunt in the winter and fall. Like, I do a bunch of stuff, and I like to travel. Like I’m here right now. This ain’t Minnesota.

[00:44:55] Yeah.

[00:44:56] Gunnar: Right? And, um, I need the weekend to do that. So I work 9:00 to 6:00, Monday [00:45:00] through Friday, but we’re open seven days a week ’cause, you know, people’s schedules are variable out there in life.

[00:45:05] Mm-hmm.

[00:45:05] Gunnar: You always gotta have your church open. So then there’s staff that are like work until the wee hours of the night and, uh, they’re like 7:00 to 10:00, and then they’re, uh, there on the weekends, 9:00 to 6:00, Saturday to Sunday. And then they… Those guys usually work a day job or they have a business. A lot of people have businesses.

[00:45:21] Gunnar: So that’s basically how the staff members are, and their job is just to deliver Dianetics and Scientology. Now, to, to do Scientology, um, you don’t

[00:45:30] Aaron: have to become… You don’t have to work for the church. No. And so what do you think is like how many people are members versus, like, working at the church? Like- Do a lot of people go on staff versus, like, just are out there, like, being members?

[00:45:43] Aaron: Or what, what’s kind of…

[00:45:44] Gunnar: Do you have a percentage of guess of, like- Ah, dude, it’s a total guess. I mean, people ask me all the time, like, “How many Scientologists are there?” I’m like, “Dude,” like a g- person could be in Alaska being, like, reading books, being like, “Yeah, I think I’m a Scientologist,” and I’d be, I have no idea.

[00:45:58] Gunnar: So that- … that, quantifying [00:46:00] that is silly.

[00:46:01] Yeah.

[00:46:01] Gunnar: I think there’s millions- Got it. Yeah … of Scientologists worldwide, absolutely. Um, various degrees of what they’re doing in Scientology, okay? Um, and then there’s the people that do it and don’t call themselves Scientologists, right? Or there’s the people reading books or whatever, so then it kind of extrapolates out.

[00:46:17] Gunnar: Um, but in terms of percentage of staff members, dude, I think it’s, like, sub 1%. Mm-hmm.

[00:46:20] Brad: Mm-hmm.

[00:46:21] Gunnar: Sub 1%. Definitely need more help, but, like, that’s fine. People are… It, it is, it ha- it ebbs and flows, but it’s starting to increase, the amount of people wanting to help on staff, ’cause it is, like, uh, it is, like, a really, like, mm, committed thing, you know?

[00:46:37] Gunnar: And it is a high purpose within the bounds of Scientology to wanna do that. It’s n- it’s not necessarily for everybody, you know? Like, but it’s, um, it’s my purpose. I find I can help more people that way. But there are other Scientologists that do, like, wild, cool stuff, you know? Um, and they’re, like, contributing on mass scales to helping people, right?

[00:46:57] Gunnar: And they’re doing it through social reform programs and [00:47:00] various things. Um, and it’s, it’s all good. But yeah, sub 1%, I think, or maybe about 1% to 2% staff to, like, public ratio.

[00:47:08] Brad: Yeah.

[00:47:08] Gunnar: Yeah.

[00:47:09] Brad: What, what was your, what was your proudest moment as a staff member?

[00:47:12] Gunnar: Hmm. Proudest moment? Uh, there is this one guy, and I always…

[00:47:17] Gunnar: It comes down to, like, one guy. Yep. Like, I have a lot of proud moments.

[00:47:20] Brad: Mm-hmm.

[00:47:21] Gunnar: Okay? Even just being on staff for me is, like, a, a continuing proud moment. Yeah. You know? But, um, there’s this one guy, he was a total wild man. Most people are wild. They’re wildly… People are interesting. Yeah. You know what I’m saying?

[00:47:33] Gunnar: He was super interesting. He was like, um, a trust fund kid.

[00:47:36] Mm-hmm.

[00:47:37] Gunnar: Okay? So his parents had all this money, and when people have trust fund kids, those kids typically are bored, right? So they get into drugs and alcohol and parties and wild stuff.

[00:47:45] Mm-hmm.

[00:47:45] Gunnar: Some are all right, but this one was wild. And, um, he would come in and he would, like, have unlimited supply of money and financing, but he looked like a homeless person.

[00:47:55] Gunnar: And he’d walk in every day a l- like, like he was high or whatever the night before, or drunk. He’d [00:48:00] come in, and he knew Scientology, like, had something. He would say, “I would watch the Scientology TV network, and I just love it. It’s so cool.” But he’d walk in, like, the next day with a new device or contraption ’cause his parents would give him 10 grand, and he’d, like, make like a three-wheeler for, like, you know, homeless people.

[00:48:13] Gunnar: Like, then he’s got a prototype, “I got a prototype for these guys to, like, get around the cities.” And he’d, like, walk in like all wild-eyed. He’d be like, “I got this thing. Look, I made it.” And, like, he would do this for months. He’d come in with his dogs. He had two pit bulls, and he’s a cute guy. And, um, he ended up reading the Scientology ethics book, and I worked with him and other people worked with him on, you know, like, getting in that for himself, like, finding out what’s going on.

[00:48:37] Gunnar: And he’d like, over months, it wasn’t like overnight, but like, you know, for an ag it takes a lot of work, you know? And he, like, pulled himself up by him- his bootstraps. He understood the material, which was, like… took some time.

[00:48:49] Yeah.

[00:48:49] Gunnar: And he, like, changed his life. And now he’s in the lives of, like, his daughters.

[00:48:54] Gunnar: He’s back with his family, ’cause they had disowned him at a point ’cause he was so, he was so, like, causing so much disruption in everyone’s life.

[00:48:59] Wow. [00:49:00]

[00:49:00] Gunnar: And now he’s, like, he’s, like, the focal point of the family. He’s like, everyone loves him and he’s in his kids’ lives and he’s doing well. He’s got no problems.

[00:49:07] Gunnar: You know, he continues to study the materials of dynamics and Scientology. I don’t know that he would even call himself a Scientologist, but I saved his life.

[00:49:13] Aaron: Mm-hmm. Wow.

[00:49:14] Gunnar: L. Ron Hubbard actually saved his life with his words, right?

[00:49:16] Aaron: Yeah.

[00:49:16] Gunnar: And we just helped facilitate And so it’s stories like that that make me proud.

[00:49:21] Aaron: Well- You know? Did, did he find you through social media?

[00:49:24] Gunnar: He didn’t actually. Oh, no. He found, he found the TV network, which is actually supersedes me. Oh, okay. Suncoast.tv, I mean, that’s on airwaves

[00:49:30] Aaron: everywhere. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:49:31] Gunnar: And that, that definitely goes above and beyond. I mean, the quality of that is great, and he just found that- Travel

[00:49:34] Gunnar: on Google searches.

[00:49:35] Aaron: Okay.

[00:49:36] Gunnar: Most people can, but it’s almost, like, funny that people, like, look at the social media now, and it’s almost like they never even knew that stuff existed. Wiki- they knew Wikipedia existed, but they didn’t, like, go to, like, find from the source, you know?

[00:49:47] Yeah.

[00:49:48] Gunnar: So anyways, yeah. But I am getting– I’m talking to people on social media all the time.

[00:49:51] Gunnar: It’s anywhere from, like, at the end of their line to, like, just need a boost, to, like, single parents to business owners [00:50:00] to people who, like, need, like, they need handouts. You know, I try, try and help, like, send some books to some people to, like, study it, you know, if they’re in a tight spot. But, um, I don’t know.

[00:50:11] Gunnar: Social media- So- … is the Wild West.

[00:50:12] Aaron: Yeah. Yeah, it is. And, and, and it’s– You mentioned Wikipedia. Um- Could you talk about, let’s talk about that

[00:50:19] Brad: Oh, we’re going into Wikipedia?

[00:50:20] Aaron: I, I, I, we might cut it later. I don’t know. We’ve

[00:50:22] Brad: never talked about Wikipedia.

[00:50:23] Aaron: But, but here’s the point- We should- … like, this Wikipedia thing, I mean, is o- on Scientology, or, uh…

[00:50:28] Aaron: Dude, could you, you talk about it for, I’m not gonna talk. I want you to say, like, what, what’s the deal with Wikipedia? You mean, like,

[00:50:33] Gunnar: all the things that I hear other people like, or questions they ask about Scientology that’s all, like, the, the negative stuff?

[00:50:38] Aaron: Sure.

[00:50:39] Gunnar: Okay. Yeah, I mean, there’s a lot of different viewpoints on it, okay?

[00:50:44] Gunnar: I usually use logic, which is i- which is, like, being able to differentiate between identities, okay? Things that are similar, and then things that are totally different.

[00:50:54] Aaron: And by identities, you mean things that are identical?

[00:50:55] Gunnar: Things that are identical. Exactly the same. Like, one for one. Yeah. I don’t know if there’s an identical thing in here.

[00:50:59] Aaron: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

[00:50:59] Gunnar: [00:51:00] Okay? Um, and then similarities, like, they have similar characteristics, you know? These microphones are all similar.

[00:51:06] Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

[00:51:06] Gunnar: I don’t think they’re identical- Mm-hmm … ’cause the cells or whatever is not the same, right? Yeah. The makeup. And, um, and then, you know, differences which are totally different things, okay?

[00:51:16] Gunnar: So that’s just logic. People, um, you know, look at Scientology and, like, there’s mystery there. Like, ’cause they just haven’t researched at all, or they don’t know what’s in the books-

[00:51:26] Mm …

[00:51:26] Gunnar: which is Dianetics and Scientology, and they listen to, like, people, right? So this is kind of the following the chain of it down, but they listen to people who are just like, “Ah, it’s bad.

[00:51:35] Gunnar: Scientology’s bad.” Or like, you know, you know, “They’re gonna ki- make you not talk to your family,” or like, “Take your money,” right? And it’s just, like, all, like, kinda like Wow, wow, wow. And, uh, okay, so that’s a symptom, and then other people are just small-minded enough or not using logic enough to look at it.

[00:51:53] Gunnar: But now that people are looking at me, now they are seeing differences. So that’s differ- They’re saying, “That’s different than what you’re saying. It’s not [00:52:00] the same. It’s not identical.”

[00:52:01] Mm.

[00:52:01] Gunnar: Okay? There’s some similarities, like he’s, like, shows up every day and he’s in a vest, so, like, maybe it is really intense, but I don’t know.

[00:52:09] Gunnar: Okay? And so, um, but now people are- And

[00:52:12] Brad: he’s in a

[00:52:12] Gunnar: vest … but now people are seeing it’s different. Yeah, like Aladdin, dude. But now, like- … people are like, people are like, “Okay, there’s, there’s differences here,” so they wanna talk to me, okay? So they see that all that negative stuff they’ve heard before, okay?

[00:52:23] Gunnar: Yeah. And then that just spreads. So that’s one thing, but that’s a symptom. Then you’ve got the fact that Scientology’s, like, the newest major religion. Like, it is a blip on the radar in time. Been around since, like, the ’60s, and before that was Dianetics, which we consider separate from Scientology, okay? So that’s, like, what?

[00:52:40] Gunnar: 75 years. Yeah. Yeah. You know? It’s about. And, um, it’s a short amount of time, so it’s easier to, like, look at things and poke holes in it. But it is the most… I’d probably say it’s the largest religion in that n- you know, pre, like, you know, after, like, 5,000, 10,000 years ago.

[00:52:55] Brad: Yeah.

[00:52:55] Gunnar: Right? And, um, so it’s, like, easier to look at it that way.

[00:52:59] Gunnar: Okay, good. Be like, “How [00:53:00] could a guy develop this?” But- Mm … you know? Whatever. He said it was, like, kinda like by happenstance and effort, you know?

[00:53:07] Brad: Yeah.

[00:53:07] Gunnar: Um, and so then you got what does Dianetics and Scientology, what do they run into head on, you know? Obviously people wanna be right about their faiths, right?

[00:53:15] Gunnar: Because, you know, 60, 70, 80 years of your life, you’re gonna die, body’s gone. I can’t ask you where you went.

[00:53:23] Mm-hmm.

[00:53:23] Gunnar: So people like religion for that, okay? Yeah. Um, and most people wanna be right about the fact that you go to heaven or you go to some place, or there’s like a circle of life comes back, right?

[00:53:32] Gunnar: Mm-hmm. Um, so you run into that, fine. But, like, since the ’50s, Dianetics has been running in the face of like, you know, psychiatry and medicating people. And that to me is actually like if, on the spectrum of people saying s- bad things about Scientology up here on social media or being in my comments, like, “You’re weird,” right?

[00:53:49] Gunnar: That’s up here, that’s like here. But down here at the root of that was, like, running into the fact that, like, medical and some medical aspects of, like, medicine, uh, [00:54:00] didn’t like the fact that 70% of mental things, like, of illness of the body- Mm-hmm … is mental. And psychiatry also was like, “That’s not really a s- there’s no money in that.”

[00:54:10] Brad: Mm.

[00:54:10] Gunnar: You having a solution doesn’t help

[00:54:12] Brad: Like having a solution to people’s medical and psychosomatic problems- Yeah … doesn’t actually help- Yeah … as and from a business.

[00:54:18] Gunnar: Yeah, exactly.

[00:54:19] Brad: Yeah. Yeah.

[00:54:20] Gunnar: So L. Ron Hubbard develops Dianetics, is taking off-

[00:54:22] Brad: Yeah, ’cause you go from a repeat customer to a one-time …

[00:54:25] Gunnar: Right.

[00:54:25] Brad: Yeah.

[00:54:25] Gunnar: It’s wild. It’s a one-shot- Mm-hmm … okay? And, and people there are like, you know, they just, they wanna keep people hooked on things, too. I mean, now look at the pharmaceutical industry. The stats are like this, boom. Yeah. And now mental health, like being a problem for people is going boom, one in four people on Earth-

[00:54:39] Mm-hmm

[00:54:39] Gunnar: is like, it’s a crisis.

[00:54:41] Brad: Mm-hmm.

[00:54:42] Gunnar: And yet psychiatry’s been around for a long time, and psychology, and so, like why isn’t there a solution? They don’t, they don’t know it. Yeah. You know?

[00:54:48] Aaron: And statistically speaking, I’ll put a study here, but, uh, of the professions that are the most depressed, uh, number one in the world is, uh, psychiatrists.

[00:54:55] Gunnar: No way. Go figure.

[00:54:56] Aaron: Yeah. Yeah, you can, you can… I’ll, I’ll put this article up. Oh, I never heard that. Um, but it’s [00:55:00] something like one in three or one in two are, like majorly, severely depressed, and they’re the ones that we’re supposed to trust with depression. Yeah, yeah. Right. Yeah. Uh, but that, that, that’s just a statistic.

[00:55:10] Aaron: Why wouldn’t they cure, why wouldn’t they cure themselves? That’s from, from… I’ll, I’ll put it up there. No.

[00:55:12] Gunnar: Yeah.

[00:55:12] Aaron: Yeah. Well, what… You can answer that question. Well- … but smart psychiatrists go to use

[00:55:16] Gunnar: Dianetics and they go to the Scientologists. Yeah. I’ve seen that. Yeah. Yeah. Um, so the thing is- That’s crazy

[00:55:23] Gunnar: we’re their therapists if, if they figure it out, right? Yeah. But anyways, so, like I look at that and I go, “Okay, well, there’s an agenda there.” That’s a trillion-dollar industry, billion-dollar industry, right? Like it’s g- it’s government funding, whole thing. Like religion doesn’t get that. Mm-hmm.

[00:55:35] Mm-hmm.

[00:55:35] Gunnar: Not just Scientology, religion doesn’t get that, so they gotta fend for themselves to give people spirituality and freedom, and that was the way of giving mental freedom, too.

[00:55:42] Gunnar: But now you’ve got so many factors that make mental freedom so difficult for people in life. And so anyways, Dianetics ran into that, so that’s automatically like they don’t like it? Good. So you could just look and draw s- you know, point and click and draw lines and make a whole, like web pattern of, like who’s saying what in social media, who’s saying what on media since [00:56:00] before social media, and what are news stations saying and what are…

[00:56:02] Gunnar: You know, there’s governments, there’s so many different things in play. But at the end of the day, like, um, that’s one thing. So I always go over that with people, and then people are like, “Well, what about money and stuff like that?” I’m like, “Well, we live in an economy. How does anything work?” You know? If you are, if you ha- are, were, are another church, you don’t just keep that building there if you’re not government funded.

[00:56:22] Mm-hmm.

[00:56:23] Gunnar: Y- y- you have dinners and events and private donors that you don’t know exist. You just think putting the dollar in the hat is, like the thing, you know? It ain’t, it ain’t just the thing.

[00:56:31] Brad: Mm-hmm. Yeah.

[00:56:31] Gunnar: You know? And so all church actually operates on that. And, um, we just exchange a different thing with you that then translates to your life right now.

[00:56:40] Gunnar: Now people will say that, too, being in a place praying and do all these things also gives them that. Absolutely. And that’s totally cool.

[00:56:45] Brad: Yeah.

[00:56:45] Gunnar: That’s yours.

[00:56:46] Brad: Yeah.

[00:56:46] Gunnar: You know? We just deliver our service differently and, you know, never before have you had an opportunity to get rid of a subconscious mind that messes you up.

[00:56:55] Brad: Mm-hmm.

[00:56:56] Gunnar: It’s been doing it arguably for a long time. So yeah, it costs a [00:57:00] little bit of something in the framework of a society, but I’d rather take that than take a pill and 10 years from now still be on that pill and be way more depressed And then die one day

[00:57:10] And

[00:57:10] Aaron: un- You know what I’m saying? And

[00:57:11] Gunnar: be

[00:57:11] Aaron: unable to come off of it.

[00:57:12] Gunnar: Right.

[00:57:12] Brad: Yep.

[00:57:13] Gunnar: Right.

[00:57:13] Brad: Has to stay on it forever.

[00:57:14] Aaron: Or, or very hard to

[00:57:15] Gunnar: come off of it. Right. Yeah. And I’m, and I’m dealing with that, that like I said, one in, like, three people I deal with is on one. Mm. And if they’re on one, they’re typically on two or three. They at least have been prescribed them, and then they’re gonna, like, they sit there and they look at it, you know?

[00:57:27] Brad: Mm-hmm.

[00:57:28] Gunnar: They know they have a problem, and the, the level of being able to, like, engage with them goes down the more they’re on- Yeah … because they’re just kinda cut off emotionally.

[00:57:34] Brad: Yeah.

[00:57:35] Gunnar: Um, or it just makes it harder to see what their problem before that was.

[00:57:38] Aaron: Yeah.

[00:57:39] Brad: Oh, yeah. ‘Cause

[00:57:40] Gunnar: now the problem is they’re stuck on those, and numb.

[00:57:43] Brad: Oh, I never considered that. Right.

[00:57:44] Aaron: Oh,

[00:57:44] Brad: wow. Yeah.

[00:57:44] Aaron: The, the idea of what psychology and psychiatry tries to do is to get you to forget your problems. Right. Right? You wanna know less. They’re trying to get you to know less, forget about it, get numb to what you’re feeling so then you can forget. In fact, uh, um, I was at a [00:58:00] dinner last, uh, two weeks ago, and there was a lady who was talking about, uh, in her city there was a very prominent, uh, guy who was delivering a lot of electric shock.

[00:58:09] Aaron: And he said sometimes the, the, the, the patients that said they liked it is ’cause they lost all their memory, and they said, “I no longer know my problems.” Right. Right? So, like, the guys that, like, were helped is like- Yeah … you forget all your memory. Yeah. That, that’s, that’s the end. You don’t know who you are.

[00:58:24] Aaron: Yeah, yeah. The, the end result- Yeah … of what these guys are trying to do is you forget.

[00:58:27] Brad: Yeah.

[00:58:27] Aaron: And, uh, and again, a lot of people will say electric shock ruined their lives like that. Yeah, yeah. Right. And I know- Yeah … a lot of people take their lives afterwards, right? Oh, yeah. Yeah, 100%. That’s a very, very common thing that happens, and that’s not a theory, that’s a fact.

[00:58:37] Brad: Yeah, yeah.

[00:58:38] Aaron: Um, but the end result of that industry is know less- Mm-hmm … forget more, and- And die … then put you down.

[00:58:45] Gunnar: Right.

[00:58:45] Brad: Yeah.

[00:58:46] Aaron: As opposed to Scientology. Do you think Scientology… What, what does Scientology do in different, different to that?

[00:58:51] Gunnar: I mean, it tries to em- it tries to empower people. It is empowering people to have confidence in their own abilities.

[00:58:58] Gunnar: I… At the end of the day, it means [00:59:00] knowing how to know.

[00:59:00] Aaron: Mm-hmm.

[00:59:00] Gunnar: Mm. Right? And our belief is that at your core, you know.

[00:59:05] Mm-hmm.

[00:59:05] Gunnar: It’s buried, and there’s reasons why that is mentally for you or spiritually. So I’m interested in raising ability, okay? Like disproving the fact that you can’t change IQ, you can’t change this, and disproving that- Mm.

[00:59:19] Gunnar: Mm … and showing them your IQ went up, you solve problems faster now, and then watching them, like, just flourish.

[00:59:25] Yeah.

[00:59:25] Gunnar: And like I said, I do not care if they call themselves a Scientologist or whatever-

[00:59:29] Yep …

[00:59:30] Gunnar: as long as they take the to- they take it and apply it.

[00:59:32] Mm-hmm. ‘

[00:59:33] Gunnar: Cause it’s only as good as it’s applied.

[00:59:34] Mm.

[00:59:35] Gunnar: That’s like any study. That’s like what I didn’t do in college.

[00:59:37] Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.

[00:59:39] Gunnar: I, like, cheat on the math test. I wasn’t applying math. You know? I wasn’t doing anything with it.

[00:59:44] Yeah.

[00:59:45] Gunnar: Like very basic arithmetic, so that waved bye-bye in like first grade, you know? And that’s all I was using.

[00:59:51] Yeah.

[00:59:52] Gunnar: So, um, but that’s what it is.

[00:59:53] Gunnar: And also to come full circle then back on like what I was saying to your original question of like, uh, you know, where, why do, [01:00:00] why would you not listen to Wikipedia? Well, that’s an open source-

[01:00:02] Brad: Mm …

[01:00:02] Gunnar: you know, platform, so you can make anything. Supposedly…

[01:00:05] Brad: Yeah. Can we, can we talk about the group thing? Can you mention the group thing?

[01:00:08] Brad: Y- earlier you mentioned, uh, groups, like group solu- groups can’t come up with a good solution or something like that.

[01:00:14] Gunnar: Yeah.

[01:00:14] Brad: Well- I feel like that d- relates directly to Wikipedia.

[01:00:16] Gunnar: Yeah. I mean, if every individual has a subconscious mind, a reactive mind per Dianetics, read it, okay? If you have that, you’re gonna operate irrationally in your own life.

[01:00:25] Brad: Mm-hmm.

[01:00:26] Gunnar: So have you ever seen groups like be like super rational if one person throws a stone? Right. You know, one guy Joe hits, you know, Bill, and then pretty soon- Fight, fight, fight, fight … if there are 10 other people there, they’re all fighting.

[01:00:37] Brad: Riot.

[01:00:37] Gunnar: Yeah. I mean, even look at like what happened during COVID, you get this widespread panic ’cause it ripples here and then it goes voom, and then everyone does the same thing.

[01:00:42] Gunnar: It’s like everyone’s dramatizing or like reenacting- Buying toilet paper … something in their mind, right? Um, and so groups never really come up with a good idea.

[01:00:50] Mm-hmm.

[01:00:50] Gunnar: Right? It’s usually the individual. You look, look at anybody who did anything in this life that is really good at it- Yeah … or was really good at it, or pioneered something, or made more [01:01:00] freedom for people, it was an individual.

[01:01:02] Gunnar: They used a group to help get it out there, right? And so that’s what you see in society. So like, you know, on an open source things or like, you know, everyone on social media, you can get, have a huge pocket that’s all just reminding themselves that they got problems in here, but they’re just talking about this and it makes it really like kinda weird or whatever, you know?

[01:01:18] Gunnar: Mm-hmm. And so you get that kind of in pockets of groups, right? One person’s going, “Rah, rah, rah, rah, rah,” and then you see this. We’ve seen this in war, everything, right? Um, so that’s a factor. So I always think at the base of anything is a reactive mind. That’s my target in Scientology in, in helping people, is get them to get rid of that thing.

[01:01:36] Mm-hmm.

[01:01:37] Gunnar: And then, um, you know, I like look at everyone that says all the, says all these things or these questions, I just think they’re cute, you know? Because I’m like, “You guys just don’t know. That’s fine. Okay. You’re trying to figure it out, and, you know, I gotta take care of you.” You know what I’m saying?

[01:01:52] Yeah.

[01:01:52] Gunnar: But like, okay, so you got the psychiatry, you got reactive minds, and then you got what everyone says, which is all up here what you see, right? Um, [01:02:00] and then, you know, there’s also this concept of like if you do one thing bad, right, it’s just like what I said with reach and like the manifestations of when you do things bad, you get very critical of people.

[01:02:09] Gunnar: Mm. Like hypercritical. Mm-hmm. It’s not just like, “Ah, Joe was an ass today.” Well, okay, I could feel that today, you know? Um, but if I was like, “God, that Joe,” I’m talking behind his back to like some of my friends, I’m like, “He’s the worst in this world. I really don’t like Joe, and I think he’s a terrible person Okay?

[01:02:28] Gunnar: That’s a little like, boy, that’s really like there. Mm-hmm. Okay? And maybe Joe just, like, was there, I don’t know, when I did something bad.

[01:02:35] Mm-hmm.

[01:02:36] Gunnar: And so now I’m naturally good, I have to justify rationally why did I do that bad thing? Must’ve been Joe.

[01:02:43] Brad: Mm-hmm.

[01:02:44] Gunnar: Couldn’t have been me, ’cause being- He must

[01:02:45] Brad: have deserved it.

[01:02:46] Gunnar: He must have deserved it, because being, being wrong means being dead, and being right means surviving, and we’re all trying to be right in life, right? So I get… You see that too, where people maybe did something to Scientology or did something while [01:03:00] being a Scientologist, whether they were or not, and then because of that, they now have to back away and go like, “Who’s the target here to, like, compensate for the fact that I did something wrong?”

[01:03:10] Mm-hmm.

[01:03:10] Gunnar: Right? I gotta say it’s the Scientologists, right? Sometimes make a little money off of it too, because it’s a cool name. You know

[01:03:17] what I’m

[01:03:18] Gunnar: saying? I’ve seen that. So anyways, those are, those are the things I go over with people, and, um, that’s real to most people, and it’s just a subject of looking at, like, is it identical with what these people are saying?

[01:03:28] Gunnar: No. Mm-hmm. ‘Cause it’d have to be one for one.

[01:03:31] Mm-hmm.

[01:03:31] Gunnar: And it ain’t one for one. Is it similar to what they’re saying? Like I said, I don’t know. You know? People like, if people are like, “I’m a Scientologist,” and like other people are like, “You shouldn’t do that,” they’re like, “Ah, screw you, I’m over here,” right? So it could be kind of similar when people are like, “Oh, you have to not talk to people that aren’t Scientologists.”

[01:03:48] Gunnar: Well, if you like it and you’re doing it, it’s your decision to be like, “That buddy of mine was an ass and I don’t wanna talk to him anymore.”

[01:03:55] Brad: Yeah.

[01:03:55] Gunnar: Uh, right? So that’s a similarity, but it’s not… But it’s different, right? And so it is different from [01:04:00] being like, they tell you not to talk to friends and family that aren’t Scientologists.

[01:04:03] Gunnar: That’s BS.

[01:04:04] Brad: Yeah.

[01:04:05] Gunnar: So it’s different, and that’s where then people come to me and they go, “You’re different from what these guys are saying. You’re not identical to what they’re saying. There’s some similarities, and it’s similar to this that I studied, and similar to that, and so I’m curious. Hello.” You know?

[01:04:18] Brad: What a beautiful cycle.

[01:04:19] Gunnar: Yeah.

[01:04:19] Brad: Yeah.

[01:04:20] Gunnar: And so it’s been super fun. Yeah.

[01:04:22] Brad: Yeah. What, what would you, um… You know, in terms of other people who are Scientologists-

[01:04:30] Gunnar: Yeah …

[01:04:30] Brad: who are, like, they’re, they’re using the technology, they’re winning, they’re, like, their lives are getting better. Um, and they’re… Obviously, when, when that happens for you, I know I can say for me, when that started happening for me when I got into Scientology, I was like, “Holy crap.

[01:04:46] Brad: I need to tell everyone about this.” Right. Like, right now. It’s like, what… How is… How does everyone in the world not know about this? Right. In fact, how is it that the, the kind of like media is, like, saying it’s not this? And I’m like, “What is going on [01:05:00] here?” If people are experiencing that and they’re like, “What should I do?”

[01:05:04] Brad: Like, “How can I talk about, to many people about this?” Obviously, you’re doing that successfully online.

[01:05:09] Gunnar: Yeah.

[01:05:10] Brad: What would you tell other people to do to, like, mimic your successful actions?

[01:05:14] Gunnar: I would tell them to just go into a Church of Scientology and ask how they would do that. Mm. You know, you’re gonna be directed on, like I said, like, one thing to start- Mm

[01:05:22] Gunnar: but it’s gonna be like, “What’s, what’s the problem?” But, like, look at good examples of Scientologists. Like, look at you guys. You know what I’m saying? Like, I’m interested in really… After this, I’m really interested in, like, how you guys got super successful, and I know it’s applying Scientology, but in what and how did you do it, and at what points did you run into something where then you apply something else, you know?

[01:05:40] Gunnar: Um, I would just, like, ask those guys that you observe. Like, like a big one is, like, Grant Cardone.

[01:05:47] Brad: Mm.

[01:05:47] Gunnar: Like, like, even in the face of adversity, flourishes and prospers. He’s applied Scientology, right?

[01:05:52] Brad: Yeah.

[01:05:52] Gunnar: 10X, dude. And you guys do the same thing, you know? And you have good relationships, and you have good families, [01:06:00] and you have good groups, and you’re doing stuff like this where you’re giving platforms to other people to, like, talk about some truth, right?

[01:06:06] Gunnar: And that’s doing more in life. So if you’re a person and you’re like on the outside looking in and you’re like, “God, I really… There’s maybe something these Scientologists are onto,” like, the best thing you’re ever gonna do is, like, just reach out and figure out a time to go in or read a book and just be like, maybe you get an answer and that changes your whole life, and then you walk in 10 years from…

[01:06:24] Gunnar: You’re like, “I was skeptical for 10 years, but I’ve been using this one thing, this one thing. So now I wanna do whatever you guys have all done.” All right? Mm-hmm. And, um, you know, I guess that’s what I tell people. There’s a lot of different ways to go about it.

[01:06:36] Yeah.

[01:06:36] Gunnar: You know? But Is there one

[01:06:39] Aaron: thing that,

[01:06:40] Gunnar: uh, what’s one thing that you grab that you can use that, like a

[01:06:42] Aaron: thing that…

[01:06:43] Aaron: Listen, you don’t need to go in, into a church, but like is there something that someone can grab right now and be like, “Man, maybe I could use this one idea, this one concept-

[01:06:51] Gunnar: Yeah, I would go- …

[01:06:51] Aaron: that would make my life better right now”? I would

[01:06:52] Gunnar: go, I would go on scientology.org. There’s two actually, like free courses which come from like some of the most popular books in Dianetics and Scientology written by [01:07:00] L.

[01:07:00] Gunnar: Ron Hubbard. One is The Problems of Work. Oh, love it. Which is gonna take Scientology- Mm … and basically make it so that any person in the work-a-day world or just in handling relationships in life will be able to apply some tools there and use some things that are gonna greatly improve their situation.

[01:07:17] Gunnar: And it’s stuff that a lot of people in life use. Like Scientology wasn’t reinventing the wheel.

[01:07:22] Mm-hmm.

[01:07:22] Gunnar: L. Ron Hubbard was categorizing it so it could be used. Mm-hmm.

[01:07:25] Yep. Mm-hmm.

[01:07:25] Brad: Yep. ‘

[01:07:26] Gunnar: Cause people are just like s- there’s no like manual for life, right? You sh- you’re born. Well- You get your parents. You get your parents’ manual.

[01:07:33] Gunnar: Well, now there is with Scientology. I

[01:07:34] Brad: mean, that’s

[01:07:35] Gunnar: my viewpoint- I mean, that’s- … on

[01:07:35] Brad: Scientology- Yeah … is it is a manual for life.

[01:07:37] Gunnar: Yeah.

[01:07:37] Brad: Yeah. But previous,

[01:07:38] Gunnar: I agree. And, but what, like you weren’t given one, like when the stork dropped you off- Yeah, yeah … in the bag. You didn’t have one that was tucked in there.

[01:07:45] Gunnar: Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what I’m

[01:07:46] saying? Yeah, yeah.

[01:07:46] Gunnar: So, um, anyways, yeah, like I would tell people to do that. There’s also The Fundamentals of Thought, which is on there. Mm-hmm. Okay? Yeah. And then there’s free online courses through the Volunteer Ministers. Mm. They’re very, like definite. Like it’s like- Mm-hmm

[01:07:57] Gunnar: improve communication, improve study, [01:08:00] handle and resolve conflicts, like solutions for a dangerous environment. Like why is everyone afraid of everything all the time? Mm-hmm. How do you solve that so you’re not afraid? And do those. That’s just basic Scientology at your fingertips for free, no obligation.

[01:08:13] Gunnar: And then read books and do courses from home, wherever you are, Timbuktu. That’s what I’m doing with people that are like, “I’m in Minnesota,” but they’re in Ohio or Texas, and they can’t drive somewhere ’cause it’s difficult. I say, “Let’s do this course. Let’s make sure you understand and can apply it for yourself.

[01:08:25] Gunnar: And when you’re ready to fly in to me, great, or if you’re gonna drive somewhere else, cool.” And that’s, that’s how I get them going.

[01:08:30] Aaron: Yeah.

[01:08:31] Gunnar: You know?

[01:08:32] Aaron: I’ll put the links down below in the show notes here, uh, for Problems of Work, Fundamentals of Thought, and there are 19 courses that you can do online as well on top of those two.

[01:08:39] Aaron: Let’s get it. Uh, we’ll put those in there. Um, Russell, uh, like- I wanna know one thing.

[01:08:46] Gunnar: Yeah.

[01:08:47] Aaron: You, have you been fit your whole life, bro?

[01:08:51] Gunnar: Um, I, no, I was skinny fat kid when I was little, like really little. Really? I mean, I think every ki- I played sports, right? But I was like a little kid. But dude, I hated breakfast food.

[01:08:59] Gunnar: [01:09:00] I’d eat pizza rolls every morning. Oh, man. If you know pizza rolls, you know that theirs are good. Those little devils, dude.

[01:09:04] Yeah, yeah.

[01:09:05] Gunnar: Um, and I don’t know, like I played sports. I always wanted to be the best. I wasn’t the best. Um, but then like my dad was really fit and he was a like a… He would like bodybuild when he was in dental school.

[01:09:17] Gunnar: Mm. And, um, so I’d always be in, he’d have me in the stroller in the gym, like at a young age, so I’d always like admire that, right? And so I started getting into it like by the end of high school, but actually the reason I got into Scientology through Dianetics, through my dad, was because I had broken that wrist- Mm-hmm

[01:09:31] Gunnar: and I couldn’t work out. Oh. And I’m like 18 years old, 17, 18 is when I started.

[01:09:35] Mm-hmm.

[01:09:35] Gunnar: It was hurting me, and then that’s when I had to solve it, right? So when I got to college, I still had like an arm brace on and stuff, and I was rehabilitating it. I got a plate in here with pins. It was awful. And I got into working out.

[01:09:46] Gunnar: I’d do twice a day in college, like almost to a fault. And, um- Take a lot of protein powder and things like that, you know? And I would, uh, similar to like figuring out, like in reading Scientology and advancing your knowledge in a subject, it was [01:10:00] the same thing. I’d study it, YouTube videos, the whole thing, and look at this guy, that guy, what he’s saying, that.

[01:10:04] Gunnar: And got to a point where then I just like knew what worked for me and would keep doing it, and yeah, I keep doing it. It’s like what I present to people, and it’s like a part of me, so I’m never gonna stop doing it. Um, and obviously it’s something that’s real to people, you know? Like, oh, he’s fit, cool. It’s an automatic like, “All right, well, let’s talk,” you know?

[01:10:24] Gunnar: People at least have that question. Yeah. But yeah, I really like

[01:10:26] Aaron: it. We gotta, we gotta put some clips of like you like skiing and like snowmobile and all that stuff. And like you got some crazy videos out there, bro.

[01:10:33] Gunnar: I do it in Minnesota, you’re wild people. You know, you’re good people- … good family people, but you’re just wild men.

[01:10:37] Gunnar: You know what I’m saying? Like the movie Fargo is basically like, that is like Minnesota, you know? Maybe to a fault, but it, uh, you know, you get four seasons, so you get a lot of opportunity for things. You got like every major sport in that state. Um, it’s beautiful, Land of 10,000 Lakes. So I’m always outdoors, I’m always on a lake, I’m always on my motorcycle, I’m around trees and nature.

[01:10:58] Gunnar: It’s a good way to be. You’re in the [01:11:00] present when you’re in those kind of things and you’re doing cool things. Mm. You know? Um, I’m gonna go, I’m gonna go skiing today actually. There’s a guy down here in Florida invited me skiing. I’m gonna go do it so that I can crisscross Minnesota and Florida and get some skiing under my belt, you know?

[01:11:12] Brad: Water skiing.

[01:11:12] Gunnar: Yeah. Water skiing. There’s no snow here, right? Survey says, yeah.

[01:11:17] Brad: Survey says no. Okay. Not in August.

[01:11:18] Gunnar: Yep.

[01:11:19] Brad: Or ever. Okay, what’s your, what are, what are your, your personal goals for life? Like what do you, what do you, what do you envision for yourself? Like what does the future for Gunner look like?

[01:11:28] Gunnar: Hmm. I’m gonna do everything that I wanna do within Scientology for myself, um, that will help give me more like just personal ability in life, okay? I’m gonna keep doing that. Um, always expand my knowledge. I will have a family one day with children. That is my goal. Beautiful. Um, I’m busy right now, so we’ll, we’ll figure it out.

[01:11:45] Gunnar: We’ll make it right. And, um, I wanna help as many people as humanly possible from where I am in Minnesota and other places. Like I definitely want to like see… I would like to die knowing that some conditions changed [01:12:00] on earth or in America where there was enough improvement that it stopped dec-decay- Yeah

[01:12:06] Gunnar: and decline, you know? And that would be a group and a mankind like success for me. You know? And I’ll probably do that until the day I die. Like I won’t ever stop doing this or working in some capacity to do that. There’s no retirement in my life, you know? I don’t care about that. I can do all… I can golf a lot on the weekends if I want.

[01:12:27] Gunnar: Yeah. You know what I’m saying? Yeah. So, um, anyways, I mean, I don’t have a definitive goal. Keep surviving at the highest level and help others to do the same.

[01:12:35] Yeah.

[01:12:35] Gunnar: And I’ll know that once like things are really moving and peop- and things are changing at the upper levels of society.

[01:12:41] Aaron: Hmm.

[01:12:42] Gunnar: Yeah.

[01:12:42] Aaron: And now for, for the family piece, right?

[01:12:45] Gunnar: Yeah.

[01:12:45] Aaron: Yes. Um, for the family piece, I wanna know like- What are you looking for in a relationship, bro? What am I looking for?

[01:12:53] Gunnar: Yeah. Um, somebody who probably has the same conviction I do to, um, what I [01:13:00] do. It doesn’t have to be identical, doesn’t have to be one for one, but, like, um, somebody who’s powerful in their own way.

[01:13:06] Gunnar: You know, women, I mean, women are the most powerful, like straight up. Like, and they’re very responsible. There’s actually more… I think there’s more women in Scientology than men because there’s, they take a lot more responsibility. I haven’t crunched the numbers.

[01:13:17] Aaron: That’s, that’s pretty, I, I-

[01:13:18] Gunnar: Don’t quote me

[01:13:21] Aaron: on that Yeah, I think it’s true as well.

[01:13:21] Aaron: I think it’s true as well. I think, I think, I think it’s harder for guys to- Yeah … to,

[01:13:24] Gunnar: to own up, right? Approach.

[01:13:24] Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. Well, dude, guys don’t wanna, guys don’t wanna be wrong. I mean- There’s a, there’s a lot of women.

[01:13:28] Gunnar: Right. Um, and so anyways, um, I want a woman like that who’s powerful in her own right, and has similar goals and purposes to mine, and obviously would like to be a mother, and, uh, like me to be the father and her husband.

[01:13:41] Gunnar: You know what I’m saying? So, um- What a great

[01:13:45] clarification.

[01:13:46] Gunnar: Yeah.

[01:13:46] Yeah.

[01:13:46] Gunnar: That, that’s, that’s what I’m looking for, and somebody who can also do it with some, you know, having some fun, you know? Like, and exploring, right? ‘Cause that’s what life’s all about, and it’s about doing it with abundance, so I want that too.

[01:13:58] Brad: Mm.

[01:13:59] Aaron: Yeah.

[01:13:59] Brad: [01:14:00] That’s good.

[01:14:00] Gunnar: Yeah.

[01:14:01] Aaron: Is it, it’s like, do you feel like you got close to that ever, or you haven’t encountered anybody like- I mean, you’ve been- I think every woman I’ve met has been amazing … oh, you’re gonna get him in, you’re gonna get

[01:14:10] Brad: him in trouble.

[01:14:11] Aaron: Every woman I’ve met has been amazing in their own way.

[01:14:13] Brad: Okay. But what, what

[01:14:15] Gunnar: a great answer. It, it, it did not fully- The

[01:14:17] Aaron: PR is next

[01:14:18] Gunnar: level. It did not fully align. It wasn’t my ideal scene. Your ideal scene is, like- Yeah … perfect. Like it’s- Mm-hmm … the almost unattainable, but- Mm … you want to obtain it. Mm-hmm. Right? So it’ll, it’ll get there, and I’m gonna move it to that.

[01:14:30] Brad: You

[01:14:30] Gunnar: will. You know?

[01:14:31] Brad: Yeah, you

[01:14:31] Aaron: will. Did, did you read, uh, Elena Cardone’s, uh, How to Build an Empire?

[01:14:34] Gunnar: I haven’t.

[01:14:35] Aaron: Okay. I should. It’s, it’s, it’s really cool, uh, that book, but specifically there’s, there’s this thing which I, I don’t think it’s a, like, a Scientology thing specifically, but, like, you make a list of, like, all of the things that you would like-

[01:14:51] Gunnar: Mm

[01:14:51] Aaron: in, in, in a partner, right? Yeah. And you, and you, and you put them all there and you make this, you know, this big list. And it was interesting, but Elena… And I’ll, and I’ll tell the story for her, but, like, get the book, check it out. [01:15:00] Um, but she makes this big list, and it’s, like, crazy list of all the amazing stuff and, and this is before Grant for sure.

[01:15:06] Aaron: Right. Right? And, uh, and at one point she realizes, she goes, “You know what? If this guy really existed and was out there, would he even wanna be with me?”

[01:15:17] Mm.

[01:15:18] Aaron: And she’s like, “I don’t think so. I gotta go make myself better to be… Like, I need to be that person’s list.”

[01:15:25] Gunnar: Right.

[01:15:26] Aaron: Yeah. You see? And so she worked on herself and this and it, and it turns out…

[01:15:29] Aaron: I won’t give the end of the story, but let’s just say, like, that was part of getting there.

[01:15:33] Gunnar: Okay.

[01:15:33] Aaron: And, uh, anyway, you can tell the world, but like- That

[01:15:35] Gunnar: makes sense. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That makes sense. I think in, in the history of time and, like, through all the backtrack of this, of life on Earth, I think there were powerful couples and when they weren’t anymore is when the society crumbled, you know?

[01:15:49] Gunnar: So- Mm … I can see that on a personal level too. So anybody in life should not settle or be, like, stuck with something. You gotta find that person who literally pushes you to do better [01:16:00] and vice versa, right?

[01:16:01] Brad: Yeah.

[01:16:01] Gunnar: I can see that. I mean, you guys got… You guys are dynamic, right? You got power- powerful relations with your significant other, right?

[01:16:09] Brad: Yeah,

[01:16:09] Gunnar: yeah. Yeah. Would you be where you are without them? Right. Yeah. So- Yeah …

[01:16:13] Aaron: cutting it close. So I better- Yeah, no, hey. Oh. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But, like, you gotta get moving, bro. I know, I know.

[01:16:18] Brad: Yeah.

[01:16:18] Aaron: I know. I’m on the clock. You’re 34, right? I’m on the clock. Like, let’s- Yeah. Let’s go, baby. Yeah. So anyway, uh-

[01:16:24] Gunnar: I shouldn’t have told you my

[01:16:25] Aaron: age.

[01:16:25] Aaron: Gotta get those babies, bro. No. No, because, dude, I, I really think, by the way, I have to say you’ll be an incredible father.

[01:16:30] Gunnar: Thank

[01:16:30] Brad: you. Absolutely.

[01:16:31] Gunnar: Well, I know I- You’ll be an incredible father, bro … I was the oldest of five, so I know- Dude, your kids are gonna love you … I know kids, all right? And I love kids, and they’re the future and I, you know.

[01:16:38] Gunnar: I wanna be a girl dad, just FYI. Yeah. I wanna be a girl dad.

[01:16:41] Brad: It’s the best.

[01:16:42] Gunnar: It’s the best. Yeah. Yeah.

[01:16:42] Brad: Yeah. Yeah.

[01:16:43] Gunnar: I would like a son too, but- Yeah, yeah … I, girl dad first. How many kids? Three. Okay. More if I had the, the time and money.

[01:16:51] Brad: Mm-hmm.

[01:16:51] Gunnar: Yeah. Yeah.

[01:16:51] Brad: Mm-hmm.

[01:16:52] Gunnar: Yeah. We’ll get up

[01:16:53] Brad: with that. Well, you, she could have the time and money.

[01:16:54] Gunnar: She could. She could if she’s on that ideal scene spectrum. Yeah, 100%.

[01:16:59] Brad: Why not? All

[01:16:59] Aaron: right. [01:17:00] Okay.

[01:17:01] Gunnar: All right, dude. So there, there is a question that we do ask every guest- Yeah. I’m here for it … uh, which is

[01:17:05] Aaron: in your own words, what is Scientology?

[01:17:08] Gunnar: Um, for me, Scientology is freedom. Now, that’s… I’m not gonna even go into too much more in-depth than that because for me it means freedom, right?

[01:17:18] Gunnar: And that’s freedom mentally, that’s freedom spiritually, that’s freedom, uh, here on in whatever you wanna get into in life. It’s freedom that people don’t even realize that they’re missing. We’re in America. That’s supposed to be the, like, pinnacle free nation. There’s a lot of things that make it not that way, and it’s very easy to say, “Well, it’s a free nation.”

[01:17:40] Gunnar: Well, you get taxed, like, so much and, you know, there’s drugs and there’s laws, and why does this law say that in this state and not that there? Doesn’t add up, right? So for me, Dianetics and Scientology is it doesn’t vary church to church. It’s the exact same, and we all have the same product we give you.

[01:17:59] Gunnar: And [01:18:00] for me, it meant more freedom, and I wouldn’t be here talking to you guys today if I didn’t get that. A lot of people say that about a lot of different things and where, how they changed their life. Former, like, you know, alcoholics, they changed their life by, like, finding the Bible.

[01:18:15] Mm-hmm.

[01:18:15] Gunnar: And they change it, and they actually supersede what their potentials are.

[01:18:18] Mm-hmm.

[01:18:19] Gunnar: And that is possible. But I even talk to those guys, and they also have a hard time. And if they use Dianetics and Scientology, they probably actually get a little bit more freedom and just stabilize it and just be in power, you know? Mm. And ’cause, you know, you can’t tell what’s going on internally until they say it.

[01:18:35] Gunnar: But that’s what it meant for me, it’s what it continues to mean for me, and, um, you know, it’s a, it’s fundamental things that you can use in life to improve life, and that’s really freedom and happiness. So

[01:18:47] Aaron: there you go.

[01:18:48] Gunnar: Amazing.

[01:18:48] Aaron: Fantastic.

[01:18:49] Gunnar: Yeah.

[01:18:49] Aaron: Uh, and let’s say that guy, would you want him to continue reading the Bible?

[01:18:55] Gunnar: I, I would want him to practice his faith. Yeah. He should actually stay [01:19:00] in his religion, you know? If that’s what’s real for him, don’t change it, but take Dianetics and Scientology and use it and watch things improve and then be a better, better version of yourself in your religion.

[01:19:14] Mm.

[01:19:14] Gunnar: You know what I’m saying?

[01:19:15] Gunnar: But yeah, I would want anybody who takes advantage of anything to keep doing it. That’s a successful action.

[01:19:20] Aaron: Yes.

[01:19:20] Gunnar: Yeah. You don’t knock that out. Yeah, that’s right. Mm-hmm.

[01:19:22] Aaron: Mm-hmm.

[01:19:22] Gunnar: Yeah. So keep, keep riding that, you know?

[01:19:25] Yeah.

[01:19:26] Gunnar: Um, yeah.

[01:19:27] Aaron: Amazing.

[01:19:27] Gunnar: Yeah. Wow.

[01:19:28] Aaron: Okay,

[01:19:28] Gunnar: guys. Boys. Bro. Dude. That was incredible. Thank you, bro.

[01:19:31] Gunnar: Thanks for having me.

[01:19:32] Brad: Yeah.

[01:19:32] Aaron: Amazing.

[01:19:33] Brad: All

[01:19:33] Gunnar: right.

[01:19:33] Brad: Remember, don’t do nothing.

[01:19:35] Gunnar: Don’t do nothing
