Text Version
[00:00:00] Aaron: Guys today I have the one and only Brad Basant. He is my friend. He is my guest today and he’s also the co-host of this podcast. Now I wanna say something about this guy. He’s enthusiastic. Okay? He has taken his parents’ company, okay. Literally to a 40 x. So we’re talking about 10 x, this is of 10 x, but four times over.
[00:00:26] Aaron: Okay. The company last year that he’s leading and the CEO of and co-owner now majority owner, has literally done $40 million in sales. Okay? Um, he now has two children, okay? Which are lovely, amazing children, um, and has a great marriage. And overall, just a great person. Someone you wanna have on your side and you don’t wanna mess with this guy.
[00:00:50] Aaron: So, um, welcome to the show.
[00:00:53] Brad: Thanks bro. Actually people like to mess with me ’cause I like messing with people. So I, I’ll just correct that. Okay. I like, [00:01:00] ’cause like, you know, we’re like before the show. No, I know. You’re
[00:01:01] Aaron: not serious. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:01:02] Brad: But yeah, dude, thank you. Thanks for having me on. Thanks for, thanks for, you know, agreeing to do this just in general, like this, this was Aaron’s idea, just for the record.
[00:01:12] Brad: Uh, but I think this is like a really important thing, you know, to provide a safe place to communicate from.
[00:01:19] Aaron: Absolutely. I mean, you know, I’ll tell you one of the reasons I, I wanna bring you on, have you share your ideas, is that the closer we are to like, when everything was really messed up and crazy, uh, and, and of course correct me if I’m wrong, but like at least, you know, we just did an interview, you interviewed me and like when things were very tough, right?
[00:01:43] Brad: Mm-hmm.
[00:01:44] Aaron: You’re not too far from that time in your life.
[00:01:48] Brad: No.
[00:01:48] Aaron: And so I think it’s just a really, Fanta
[00:01:52] Brad: not far at
[00:01:53] Aaron: all. Yeah. And I think it’s important that as you’re making that transition to kind of let people [00:02:00] remember and like see what it was like and then what it took to take those steps. ’cause you’re so kind of fresh and close to that.
[00:02:06] Aaron: Mm-hmm. And so, um, can we just start, like, tell me what I, I guess like, look, people are struggling out there
[00:02:15] Brad: mm-hmm.
[00:02:16] Aaron: In business, in relationships, family, no family money. Like, there’s a lot of problems in the world today. Can you tell me what was it like, let’s say, I don’t know how, when, when was like your low point in your life?
[00:02:27] Aaron: Let’s talk about that. Let’s talk about like, when was a very low point in your life,
[00:02:34] Brad: man. So there were, there were a couple. The one that actually comes to mind is, um, there was a point where I, uh. So I, a lot of my life is dedicated to my business, like just by proportion of time.
[00:02:50] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:02:51] Brad: It’s what I spend the most time on. It’s what I have the most attention on, and it’s a thing that I, I measure my own success by how that’s going.
[00:02:59] Brad: Mm-hmm. In a large way. And [00:03:00] like, that’s just how I do it. And, uh, there was a point in really in like late 2020, early 2021 where it was just like not going well. Mm-hmm. Like in, actually, I remember, yeah, this was probably the low point in December of 2021, we had, uh, we were, we were, we were growing and, um, our top sales guy actually left.
[00:03:24] Brad: He took a job at another company.
[00:03:26] Aaron: Mm. Competitor,
[00:03:27] Brad: uh, different state.
[00:03:28] Aaron: Okay. Okay.
[00:03:29] Brad: So not, not really. But it’s still like, it was like, Hey, by the way, there’s no exit time. Like I, I’m gone. Like, I’m coming back, but you’re not gonna see me. I’m, I’m getting my stuff, setting up the movers and I’m gone. I start, wow.
[00:03:41] Aaron: I start Monday. Not even like a two week notice or anything.
[00:03:42] Brad: No.
[00:03:43] Aaron: Wow.
[00:03:43] Brad: Yeah. So, I mean, the, the good news on that is he didn’t expect any of his unpaid commissions. He’s like, I know I’m giving up everything there of my pipeline, but I, I gotta take this opportunity. So he was pretty cool about it. Okay. But that was pretty, that was pretty, pretty tough.
[00:03:56] Brad: I was like, definitely in a place where I’m like, okay, I need to [00:04:00] like, really handle what’s going on here. ’cause I was like, I, I don’t know what the hell we’re gonna do. Mm. Um, and it like literally he was probably. 70% of our sales Oh, wow. In the la in the previous six months.
[00:04:12] Wow.
[00:04:13] Brad: Because I wasn’t doing any of the selling anymore.
[00:04:14] Aaron: Sure.
[00:04:15] Brad: So I’m like, whoa, how are we gonna survive? And, uh, in my personal life, my relationship seemed to get worse and worse. I was, well, we can, we can get into the, the personal life stuff seriously, but I had a pretty insane personal life.
[00:04:28] Aaron: Mm-hmm. And it was at the same time.
[00:04:30] Brad: At the same time.
[00:04:31] Aaron: Yeah. I mean, this,
[00:04:31] Brad: this is going concurrently.
[00:04:32] Aaron: This is one thing kind of, we’ve, we both believe and understand, like
[00:04:36] Brad: mm-hmm.
[00:04:36] Aaron: You can’t silo your personal life from any other part of your life. You can’t silo your like,
[00:04:39] Brad: Nope.
[00:04:40] Aaron: Whatever your career is, whatever your business is, whatever your personal life is, they’re intertwined.
[00:04:44] Brad: Yeah. The, I, I don’t believe in the idea of balance.
[00:04:47] Brad: Mm-hmm. I do believe in the idea of interconnectedness.
[00:04:49] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:04:50] Brad: Because one feeds the other and they can’t be out exchange with each other. Mm-hmm. You know what I mean? They actually have to exchange the, the business with the family, with the church, with the society as a whole. Mm-hmm. It’s [00:05:00] got, there’s gotta be a, a.
[00:05:01] Brad: Exchange there.
[00:05:02] Aaron: Yep.
[00:05:02] Brad: So what I would describe this as is in, in like January, February of 2021, like we turned, turned the calendar on New Year. Had a terrible New Year’s that year I specifically remember. And I literally felt like I, I was
[00:05:16] Aaron: on That’s point. You’re mm-hmm. 28, 27. What age?
[00:05:19] Brad: I would’ve been, um, let’s see, 20, 21.
[00:05:23] Brad: I’m 32 now. What is that?
[00:05:26] Aaron: Yeah, like 22
[00:05:27] Brad: 7, 45 years ago.
[00:05:28] Aaron: Yeah. Something like that.
[00:05:29] Brad: Yeah. So 27.
[00:05:29] Aaron: Okay.
[00:05:30] Brad: Yeah. And so I’m like, I had this kind of like mockup, this like, uh, pit, this image of myself that I was projecting to people of like, so basically what I was trying to create is I was trying to, you know, you know the guys who have their Instagram where they’re always on a boat and, and there’s girls all around them.
[00:05:46] Brad: Yeah. So I actually got that picture. I don’t think it’s on my, not on my Instagram anymore. Okay. Okay. But on this guy named Rick, he has a yacht. I was on his yacht,
[00:05:54] Aaron: yeah.
[00:05:54] Brad: With like 10 girls.
[00:05:56] Aaron: Yeah.
[00:05:56] Brad: And like me in the middle, like. Laying [00:06:00] back, right. Girls all, all in bikinis. And I was like, I got the picture. And I thought that was literally like the pinnacle of, of success.
[00:06:06] Brad: But my relationship was terrible. My business was not going
[00:06:08] Aaron: well. Was was your girlfriend in that picture or she
[00:06:10] Brad: wasn’t there? Yeah, she was. Oh,
[00:06:10] Aaron: she was
[00:06:11] Brad: there. Yeah, she was in the picture. She was right next to me. But, uh, but yeah, dude, what? And so it, I was making it look like I, my life was really happy, but I was actually completely miserable.
[00:06:21] Brad: Mm. I was, I got really good at faking being happy.
[00:06:23] Aaron: Mm.
[00:06:23] Brad: Actually really good. Uh, like incredibly, incredibly good. I’m a very good actor. But, but what really was occurring, and this is the sensation of what it actually felt like, is it felt like my, my head was getting ground into, into the Dirt By the Boot of Life.
[00:06:43] Brad: Right? Just, uh, right. Just blow after blow after blow. And I seemed to just be going downhill. I was having, I was literally like. Most of my life. I, I’ve been in pretty good shape, so I was a triathlon, a triathlon in college.
[00:06:55] Aaron: What
[00:06:55] Brad: I was, I didn’t do this. I’m a, I’m, uh, a, so I graduated from, [00:07:00] uh, US Army Ranger School and Airborne School, so I’m Wow.
[00:07:03] Brad: An army ranger, an Airborne Ranger.
[00:07:04] Aaron: Wow.
[00:07:05] Brad: I graduated from West Point, like, I, I then
[00:07:07] Aaron: wow.
[00:07:08] Brad: Fit most of my life. I started having chronic pain. Mm. Like in places I started, like really, my fitness started to really deteriorate. I’m still working on that, right? Sure, sure. On, on the uphill still. Sure,
[00:07:17] Aaron: sure.
[00:07:17] Brad: But, uh, yeah, it was literally like the boot of life had me on the ground and was just grinding me into the dirt and it, and it literally, I could feel myself spiritually as a being going downhill.
[00:07:28] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:07:29] Brad: I couldn’t, I didn’t know how to quantify it. I was, I didn’t know what was going on. Mm-hmm. But I knew that something was very wrong and, uh, so I was, and so, and so I would say France, I was looking for answers.
[00:07:39] Aaron: Yeah. Great.
[00:07:40] Brad: I was like, what am I, what am I doing wrong here?
[00:07:42] Aaron: Right. And what stuff like.
[00:07:44] Aaron: Obviously this podcast is like Scientology focused, right? Yeah. We’re both Scientologists.
[00:07:47] Brad: Yep.
[00:07:47] Aaron: Um, now, like before you got there, ’cause this is all pre-sent, this
[00:07:51] Brad: is all pre Scientology.
[00:07:52] Aaron: Yep.
[00:07:52] Brad: Yeah.
[00:07:53] Aaron: What things did you try, like what kind of stuff have you been like in your life? You’re looking for instance, like what things have you tried that been like, [00:08:00] oh, maybe that didn’t work, or something happened.
[00:08:02] Brad: So the good news about this is on, on my YouTube, this, this, all the stuff I tried is there basically
[00:08:07] Aaron: Mm.
[00:08:07] Brad: Like meditation.
[00:08:09] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:08:09] Brad: Not a good idea. Mm-hmm. By the way, do not, I do not recommend that.
[00:08:11] Aaron: Yeah.
[00:08:12] Brad: There’s an earlier video of me recommending it. I actually, maybe I unlisted that one.
[00:08:16] Aaron: Okay.
[00:08:16] Brad: I would not recommend that.
[00:08:17] Brad: Okay. That, that made it the downhill accelerate actually. Okay. Right. ’cause I got really introverted into my own thoughts, right? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Um, I never tried drugs that, that never, although I, I started considering it towards, right when I found Scientology, I was strongly considering maybe I need to go do ayahuasca or something.
[00:08:39] Brad: Okay, there you go. I’m strongly considering it.
[00:08:41] Aaron: Wow.
[00:08:41] Brad: And I did not do drugs. Okay. Like at all period. Nothing. Wow. Right from the time I was like 18, like I, you know, smoked weed in high school and stuff. Mm-hmm. But like, literally nothing. Uh, I didn’t even drink alcohol from like 2017 to 2021.
[00:08:54] Aaron: Oh, wow.
[00:08:54] Brad: Yeah. So I was like, clean, uh, but I was actually starting to consider, okay, maybe I need to go, do they
[00:08:59] Aaron: see
[00:08:59] Brad: videos?
[00:08:59] Brad: [00:09:00] Videos about my
[00:09:00] Aaron: Oscar, this blah,
[00:09:01] Brad: whatever, dude.
[00:09:02] Aaron: Is it from videos or from
[00:09:03] Brad: like Yeah,
[00:09:04] Aaron: yeah.
[00:09:04] Brad: It’s from like videos from like Joe Rogan videos and stuff like that. Love, I, I like Joe Rogan, but I don’t like that, that part. Sure, sure. Anyways, so, um, yeah, I was, I was looking, oh, what else did I try? I tried the, the, the women thing that did not, you mean have,
[00:09:19] Aaron: what does that mean?
[00:09:20] Aaron: Have no
[00:09:20] Brad: women
[00:09:20] Aaron: thing?
[00:09:21] Brad: So are you trying the
[00:09:22] Aaron: men thing now?
[00:09:22] Brad: Yeah. No, so, so the, so literally my, at the time girlfriend, my now wife, yeah. We were literally in an open relationship 2021. By the way, if you wanna be completely miserable, have an open relationship with your, with your significant other, if you wanna, if you wanna really be miserable.
[00:09:39] Brad: Have the worst life possible. Have an open relationship.
[00:09:41] Aaron: So, so what does that mean? Like, like exactly. Like how, how, how does that, how first, how, how does that start? Like you guys have been together for how, like Yeah. How long were you together and then, and then
[00:09:51] Brad: Yeah, I basically, when we got together I was like, Hey, this is, this is what I want to do.
[00:09:54] Aaron: Oh, okay. So from,
[00:09:55] Brad: and she was like, uh, okay. I guess dude, she, we’ll, we’ll have to have my wife on
[00:09:59] Aaron: [00:10:00] Yeah.
[00:10:00] Brad: At some point in the future. ’cause she, her story is, I won’t tell her full story. Sure. Hers is cra way crazier than mine.
[00:10:06] Aaron: Yep.
[00:10:06] Brad: Like, oh my, I think you know a little bit. A little bit. Yeah. Because I’ve told you, but it’s insane.
[00:10:11] Brad: So, um, put that plug there.
[00:10:13] Aaron: Okay. So, so you start the relationship.
[00:10:15] Brad: Mm-hmm.
[00:10:16] Aaron: Where’d you guys meet?
[00:10:17] Brad: Oh, so in 2017? Yeah. Her mom introduced us because her brother is married to my sister.
[00:10:30] Aaron: Oh
[00:10:31] Brad: yeah.
[00:10:31] Aaron: Oh, interesting. Oh, so like, so your brother.
[00:10:34] Brad: My sister
[00:10:34] Aaron: married or her sister?
[00:10:35] Brad: My sister
[00:10:36] Aaron: still, they’re somewhere.
[00:10:36] Brad: Her brother.
[00:10:37] Brad: Yeah, they’re some married.
[00:10:37] Aaron: Okay. So, so yeah,
[00:10:38] Brad: they have two beautiful kids. It’s very happily here. Oh,
[00:10:39] Aaron: wow. That’s, that’s cool. That’s cool.
[00:10:41] Brad: Yeah.
[00:10:41] Aaron: Okay.
[00:10:42] Brad: No, it was great. It’s actually, and it’s totally cool. You can do, you know, you can math it out. It’s not incest.
[00:10:46] Aaron: Yeah. No, no. It’s, it’s fine.
[00:10:47] Brad: One degree separated.
[00:10:48] Brad: But, um, yeah. So that’s how we met. And I literally, at the time, I was like, I just want to date. I don’t, I don’t wanna be in a serious relationship. And I told her mom that too.
[00:10:57] Aaron: Okay.
[00:10:57] Brad: And then I meet her and she’s awesome. [00:11:00] And so I was like, damnit, like I knew we, we would wind up like being together.
[00:11:04] Aaron: Yeah.
[00:11:04] Brad: Like it, you know, for a long time. And, uh, so I was kind of frustrated about that ’cause I wanted to date. Mm-hmm. You know? Mm-hmm. And, uh, yeah, we wound to being together, but I was like, Hey, but I still wanna be able to date, so I was trying to have my cake and eat it too.
[00:11:17] Aaron: Okay. Okay.
[00:11:17] Brad: That was literally the concept.
[00:11:19] Aaron: So, so you meet her?
[00:11:20] Brad: Yeah.
[00:11:21] Aaron: And on the first date you tell her this or af like, how, when do you like spring this on? Like, Hey, by the way, by the
[00:11:25] Brad: way, prob,
[00:11:26] Aaron: we should see other people.
[00:11:27] Brad: Yeah, probably. Yeah. Well, that’s the thing is like, I actually didn’t want her to see other people, so I was like, you kind of know.
[00:11:34] Brad: But then me, yes, dude, this is, I’m just telling you the truth. This is the complete truth, by the way.
[00:11:41] Aaron: Wow.
[00:11:41] Brad: She will attest. Um, but basically, yeah, this is so, so bad.
[00:11:47] Aaron: So, okay, so how long, so how long
[00:11:49] Brad: you, uh, three months. I think it was probably like three, three months, months
[00:11:51] Aaron: in.
[00:11:51] Brad: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:11:52] Aaron: Were
[00:11:52] Brad: already other people I told her Or,
[00:11:54] Aaron: or you were, you were, you were,
[00:11:55] Brad: no, I actually wasn’t, no, no.
[00:11:56] Brad: Before I told her, like in that period where it was like, I want to do this, but I haven’t [00:12:00] told her like,
[00:12:00] Aaron: okay.
[00:12:01] Brad: Probably like, no, no infidelity.
[00:12:03] Aaron: Okay.
[00:12:03] Brad: Because I would’ve considered it infidelity. Right. But then once I told her, I was like, okay, good. Now I have my own self-created hall pass. But it was like, but like I said earlier.
[00:12:12] Brad: If you wanna have a miserable life, have an open relationship.
[00:12:15] Aaron: So, so, so
[00:12:16] Brad: talk about how, how did it change?
[00:12:17] So,
[00:12:17] Brad: go bro. I just have to say this, like, I have never been as miserable in my life as a period where we were in a, in an open relationship. It was so bad that actually, I, I slightly misspoke earlier in 2021, or sorry, 2020 when the COVID thing happened, I was like, okay, I gotta get really serious about my business.
[00:12:34] Brad: And I told her, we’re done with the open relationship thing, I’m just gonna be with you. Wow. I actually came to that realization on my own. Oh, wow. Somehow magical. Wow. ’cause I just saw that, that it was going so bad and, uh, yeah, and actually I, I stuck to that. I think I.
[00:12:48] Aaron: At least for a day.
[00:12:49] Brad: At least for a day.
[00:12:50] Aaron: No, but,
[00:12:50] Brad: but anyways, I had come to the realization that that was bad. So that, I just wanna really like hammer the, the open relationship thing. If you want to be miserable, have an open relationship. [00:13:00]
[00:13:00] Aaron: So, so I, I just wanna, I just wanna like clarify a little bit. Okay. Yeah. Okay. So you tell her, Hey, I’m gonna see other people.
[00:13:08] Aaron: You’re not actually, you literally said that.
[00:13:11] Brad: I mean, yeah.
[00:13:12] Aaron: And then, and then and she said, okay,
[00:13:15] Brad: yeah.
[00:13:15] Aaron: Stop, bro. I look at me. You serious?
[00:13:19] Brad: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:13:20] Aaron: And she’s like, okay, I will not see other people, but you can, I
[00:13:24] Brad: mean, basically, yeah.
[00:13:26] Aaron: Did she, did she serve anybody else or she
[00:13:28] Brad: not, not really.
[00:13:29] Aaron: Not really.
[00:13:30] Brad: Actually.
[00:13:30] Brad: Never
[00:13:30] Aaron: once? No.
[00:13:31] Brad: No.
[00:13:32] Aaron: And, and, and how did you, wow. Sorry. I’m just like
[00:13:36] lost
[00:13:36] Brad: words. Yeah. So here’s, heres thing. Imagine like you have a person that, that like you really love. You’re basically who you look at as your spouse. We are obviously married now we have two kids. Beautiful. Amazing. Um. Scientology fixed that, by the way, like Scientology actually gave me, it didn’t fix it, it gave me the ability to fix it.
[00:13:52] Brad: It restored to me the ability to fix my own life in this area. Most beautiful thing I’ve ever done. And fixing this also fixed my business. We’ll [00:14:00] get into that. That’s amazing. We’ll get into that more, but, um, what were we talking about? Uh, oh,
[00:14:05] Aaron: so you said, okay, I’m gonna steal the people. You’re not. Yeah.
[00:14:07] Aaron: She’s like, okay, I love you so much that you can do it and, and I’ll be good and clean and you go be crazy. You’ll get over it. I guess maybe that’s what she’s thinking and, and I guess it was true.
[00:14:15] Brad: Cut. Yeah. Actually she was complete. Yes. That is kind of exactly what the concept was. And that’s exactly what happened.
[00:14:21] Brad: So the thing was, I was extremely unsuccessful.
[00:14:23] Aaron: Mm. Because that’s, that’s funny. Other women.
[00:14:25] Brad: Yeah.
[00:14:26] Aaron: So
[00:14:26] Brad: because,
[00:14:26] Aaron: so, so you slept with the one or you slept with.
[00:14:29] Brad: Well, we’ll leave it up in three. We’ll leave it in a mystery. Okay. We’ll leave it in a mystery. A
[00:14:32] Aaron: mystery. Okay.
[00:14:32] Brad: Yeah, dude.
[00:14:33] Aaron: But can’t tell me
[00:14:34] Brad: body
[00:14:34] Aaron: count.
[00:14:34] Aaron: Live on air. Listen, listen, listen. Open relationship means like, okay, cool. You were on Tinder, you, you swiped a few times.
[00:14:40] Brad: That’s right. That’s right.
[00:14:41] Aaron: And you met up with nobody and like, okay, cool. Then that was not even really an open, I mean, it was open, but nothing happened.
[00:14:46] Brad: No. I mean, so a couple things happened.
[00:14:47] Brad: A couple things. Yeah.
[00:14:48] Aaron: Okay.
[00:14:48] Brad: Yeah. And, uh, so I mean that, you know, that that occurs, but realize that as I’m like trying to, it’s, it’s literally, so here we can we, getting into like a Scientology principle. It’s like when you’re trying to, [00:15:00] I learned, this is one of the biggest things I’ve ever learned in Scientology, is you can’t reach for something with a closed fist.
[00:15:07] Aaron: Mm.
[00:15:07] Brad: Because if I try to reach for a book on the shelf with my fist closed, I gotta, I gotta let go of whatever I’m holding onto and then I can pick a book off the shelf.
[00:15:13] Aaron: Mm.
[00:15:14] Brad: Right. I never heard this. I’m, I’m trying to, you never heard this?
[00:15:18] Aaron: No.
[00:15:18] Brad: Really?
[00:15:18] Aaron: Never heard of this.
[00:15:19] Brad: Well, it’s a withhold.
[00:15:21] Aaron: I gotcha.
[00:15:21] Brad: Yeah.
[00:15:21] Brad: Allows you to reach when you let go of it. Yeah. This is just my,
[00:15:24] Aaron: your interpretation of
[00:15:25] Brad: what this is my, yeah. This is my understanding of, of the concept of, you know, basically I, I, you know, getting off your ance, which is a mm-hmm. So, anyways, I, I’m like holding onto Okay. I, I, uh, I don’t want to, because I actually really, that whole time I was like, I didn’t wanna make her uncomfortable.
[00:15:43] Brad: Mm. So I was like, okay, let me do it in where she’s not gonna notice it, blah, blah, blah. Like, even though I, you know, I’m trying to, like, you
[00:15:49] Aaron: almost agreed,
[00:15:50] Brad: I’m trying to be transparent, but hidden at the same time. Literally, that was the concept.
[00:15:54] Aaron: Right.
[00:15:54] Brad: So you can imagine it went super not well,
[00:15:56] Aaron: right?
[00:15:57] Brad: Like, I was super unsuccessful, many awkward, [00:16:00] weird situations.
[00:16:00] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:16:01] Brad: And, uh, I’ll just say it again. If you really wanna be miserable, have an open relationship,
[00:16:05] Aaron: and so then what happens now? Now that misery, like can you describe it? Like, you’re, you’re just thinking about what Yeah. Like what’s going on in your head?
[00:16:11] Brad: Yeah. What was going on in my head is you
[00:16:13] Aaron: think, you name it.
[00:16:13] Brad: Yeah. Yes, I can name it. It was a frantic. Fear that I was going to be missing out on, uh, sex. Like literally, it’s a frantic fear that if I don’t go and find more women to have sex with, then I’m gonna be missing out. That like, I’m just telling you straight up, like that’s actually what’s, it’s f consuming your mind day in, day out all the
[00:16:34] Aaron: time.
[00:16:35] Brad: That’s right. To the extent where I can’t think about like business deals, I can’t think about expansion. Like I’m just so distracted constantly by this like imagined problem.
[00:16:43] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:16:44] Brad: And I’d imagine there’s probably a lot of guys that actually go through the same thing
[00:16:47] Aaron: mm-hmm.
[00:16:47] Brad: Mm-hmm. In their life.
[00:16:48] Aaron: I’ve been there.
[00:16:49] Aaron: I I, yeah. I actually almost did something similar, but not that similar, but, but close.
[00:16:53] Brad: Yeah.
[00:16:54] Aaron: Yeah. Yeah,
[00:16:54] Brad: bro. I think actually a lot of men go through this. And, and the, and the thing that [00:17:00] happens is either, either they just succumb to it and it’s like they just go into apathy on it, which, which really sucks.
[00:17:05] Brad: ’cause then it’s actually still there. Or they actually overcome it and they’re like, they kind of figure out a way to bust through it either on their own or Bro, Scientologists don’t tend to have a lot of marriage issues.
[00:17:18] Aaron: Yep.
[00:17:18] Brad: Because we, there’s a technology for handling your, like your, uh, you know, your family life.
[00:17:25] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:17:25] Brad: There’s literally a technology for that.
[00:17:27] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:17:28] Brad: And so that was actually the first thing that I did, by the way, was, was I did, uh, a confessional on
[00:17:34] Aaron: your first thing. Went in Scientology.
[00:17:35] Brad: Yeah.
[00:17:36] Aaron: Okay. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Okay. So we skipped a lot.
[00:17:41] Brad: Sorry. Sorry, sorry. Yeah.
[00:17:42] Aaron: We skipped a lot.
[00:17:42] Aaron: We skipped a Okay, so you’re with,
[00:17:44] Brad: but that’s the, like, the most important thing to me was that first. Like confessional where
[00:17:49] Aaron: No, no, but how did you even get, how do you get, okay, how do you get from like,
[00:17:51] Brad: yeah.
[00:17:52] Aaron: Hey, you have this open relationship. You slept with at least another girl, maybe a couple. Uh, you’re with your wife.
[00:17:57] Aaron: Yeah. Your wife knows about this. Did you, did you like tell her or she [00:18:00] just like you told her. Okay. You told her
[00:18:01] Brad: I, in, in, at the time, semi realtime. Yeah. As close to real time as I could, I could bear.
[00:18:07] Aaron: Okay. Then, and then, and then she, and then what? And then she’s
[00:18:10] Brad: What’s like
[00:18:10] Aaron: the reaction?
[00:18:11] Brad: She’s, well, she not happy.
[00:18:13] Aaron: Yeah. I could
[00:18:13] Brad: imagine like, obviously she, she would be like, okay. And then huge fight about something else. Right,
[00:18:19] Aaron: right, right.
[00:18:20] Brad: Which, like, just one more time. If you wanna be really miserable, have an open,
[00:18:25] Aaron: you can appreciate, you can’t appreciate your own girlfriend, wife, fiance, whatever she was at the time to you,
[00:18:30] Brad: you actually wound really disliking the person that you’re with.
[00:18:32] Aaron: Mm. So you started, you started really
[00:18:35] Brad: mm-hmm.
[00:18:36] Aaron: Going against her.
[00:18:37] Brad: Yeah. Which I was like, man, this is so weird. ’cause I know she’s amazing and I really do love her, but now I’m like, DI don’t like her for some reason.
[00:18:45] Aaron: Mm. I wonder
[00:18:47] Brad: why, dude, I wonder why. Yeah, yeah. No,
[00:18:48] Aaron: but,
[00:18:49] Brad: but
[00:18:49] Aaron: the concept,
[00:18:50] Brad: yeah,
[00:18:50] Aaron: it’s, it’s, it’s strange this connection.
[00:18:52] Brad: Yeah.
[00:18:53] Aaron: You don’t make this con, I mean
[00:18:54] Brad: Yep.
[00:18:55] Aaron: I could see that on your end and like mm-hmm. Some people might understand that, [00:19:00] but I fully am with you when you’re
[00:19:01] Brad: Yeah.
[00:19:02] Aaron: Doing these hidden things and even though it wasn’t so hidden, there’s not like chin know all the details.
[00:19:05] Brad: That’s right.
[00:19:06] Aaron: Right. You kind of like, you try to take it off your chest, but like, you’re not gonna go down into all the specifics, so like she knows a little bit some of this and you start.
[00:19:15] Aaron: Being upset with her.
[00:19:16] Brad: Yeah.
[00:19:16] Aaron: Right. And, and that’s real to me. And I don’t know, guys, if you’re really, I don’t know what to say. Let’s just move on. So, okay. That’s, that’s happening. Alright. That’s going down and then, okay. But you stopped that before Scientology. You just said, Hey, this is a bad idea, regardless.
[00:19:29] Aaron: Yeah. It’s not like Scientology made you some goody two shoes and this and be, uh, uh, on this thread and arrow.
[00:19:35] Right.
[00:19:35] Aaron: You just said out on your own, this is terrible.
[00:19:37] Brad: Yeah.
[00:19:38] Aaron: And you told her, Hey, I’m committed to you now. Or what was, how was this, how was the process of like turning that thing off?
[00:19:42] Brad: Yeah, so one thing that we were doing is, uh, we would literally throw parties to try to be around more.
[00:19:49] Brad: Uh, admittedly like cool guys, but also attractive women. That’s who goes, goes to parties. Uh, so I thought mm-hmm. By the way, the best people on the planet, they don’t go to those fucking parties. Mm. Just so you know.
[00:19:58] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:19:59] Brad: I, I [00:20:00] have now in this stage of life, like I have met a lot of the best people on the planet.
[00:20:06] Brad: I’m completely confident in saying that. And they don’t go to parties.
[00:20:10] Right.
[00:20:11] Aaron: Not that
[00:20:12] Brad: they do go to fundraisers. Fundraisers are a great place to meet people, just so you know. Or masterminds. We met, I think we met in the first place on Oh, yeah’s true Fundraisers are better than Masterminds.
[00:20:20] Aaron: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
[00:20:21] Aaron: Yeah. They’re both, I mean, they’re different.
[00:20:22] Brad: Fundraisers are the best. Anyways, that’s my, that’s my personal,
[00:20:25] Aaron: no, so, okay, so you’re throwing parties.
[00:20:27] Brad: Yeah. So
[00:20:27] Aaron: throwing parties to find, to find. But now you’re done with, you’re done with your open relationship prospects, now you’re throwing parties to meet people or, no,
[00:20:33] Brad: that was the same, same time period.
[00:20:34] Brad: Okay. Throwing parties, da, da, da. Like getting, I was trying to really get into like, the nightclub scene. Okay. And like be basically like a promoter and bring
[00:20:42] Aaron: you Were trying to be a promoter. You mean like make money on parties?
[00:20:45] Brad: Yeah. Basically. Yeah. That’s exactly right.
[00:20:47] Aaron: Oh,
[00:20:47] Brad: we, we actually did on a couple parties.
[00:20:50] Brad: Um, but it was like, uh, so that’s actually the thing that we ended after, uh, after COVID. Mm. Is I was like, okay, we gotta end this [00:21:00] distraction thing. Mm-hmm. And that was, and I’m like, and I, and we need to end the open relationship thing. Okay. So, you know, it’s just, I gotta be less distracted. ’cause, ’cause I came to a realization that.
[00:21:11] Brad: I was like, wow. The, the, the guys who have it the easiest are the guys with money and I don’t have any money. Mm. I’m like, literally, I, I hadn’t taken home since I had left the army. ’cause I, I left the army in, in 2017 is when I got out. I hadn’t taken home more than $35,000 in a year.
[00:21:30] Aaron: Mm.
[00:21:30] Brad: Prior to 2021.
[00:21:32] Aaron: Yep.
[00:21:33] Aaron: So you’re, you’re below average.
[00:21:35] Brad: Yeah. Well, below average.
[00:21:37] Aaron: Yeah.
[00:21:37] Yeah.
[00:21:37] Brad: Like, well
[00:21:38] Aaron: half,
[00:21:40] Brad: like, it was so bad that my sp my girlfriend now spouse pay paid, uh, I think she paid two thirds of the rent and I paid a third of the rent.
[00:21:47] Aaron: Okay.
[00:21:48] Brad: And she paid for everything else?
[00:21:49] Aaron: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:21:51] Brad: I couldn’t afford to pay for anything.
[00:21:54] Aaron: Okay. And, but you still had this business, so, so you were in charge of the business. When did, when did, [00:22:00] when did you get kind of like.
[00:22:02] Brad: Serious about
[00:22:02] Aaron: it? No, no. When were you kind of handed the business to, to take over?
[00:22:07] Brad: Like that was, yeah, so, so that, that happened in, when I was getting outta the army mm-hmm.
[00:22:10] Brad: In October, I got outta the Army on Halloween 2017. Mm-hmm. So October 31st, 2017, I basically had a decision to make a couple months before that of do I, ’cause I have a, a physics degree from West Point, and so I could have very easily gotten a job on Wall Street.
[00:22:24] Aaron: Yep.
[00:22:25] Brad: And gone the investment banking route and eventually wound up at a hedge fund, which is what I was think thinking do, how does physics
[00:22:29] Aaron: make investment banking?
[00:22:32] Brad: You can, you can think with concepts and, and you don’t have to have a lot of mass to. Work through a problem.
[00:22:38] Aaron: Okay. Okay, fine.
[00:22:39] Brad: You know what I mean?
[00:22:39] Aaron: Yeah.
[00:22:39] Brad: Does that make sense?
[00:22:40] Aaron: Yeah. You just never, I never made that correlation, but
[00:22:42] Brad: yeah. So yeah, like investment, A lot of times you have to be able to think with concepts without having the physical thing right in front of you.
[00:22:48] Aaron: Right.
[00:22:48] Brad: Right. Yeah. It’s, it can be a tough thing to do.
[00:22:50] Aaron: Okay.
[00:22:50] Brad: So anyways, um, and tra physics does translate really well into that.
[00:22:54] Aaron: Great.
[00:22:54] Brad: So I’m like, okay, do I do that and obviously make a ton of money or do I go help run my family business? Mm-hmm. And I [00:23:00] chose to do the family business thing, admittedly, because I was actually scared of this.
[00:23:05] Brad: Mm-hmm. Wall Street. This was a safer route wall. Yeah. This was the safer route to All right.
[00:23:08] Aaron: It’s like it’s your family.
[00:23:09] Brad: Yeah.
[00:23:10] Aaron: You know, the stuff, whatever.
[00:23:11] Brad: So I move in to the shed behind my parents’ house.
[00:23:16] Aaron: Mm.
[00:23:16] Brad: Uh, while I’ll have children in
[00:23:18] Aaron: Right. You when you need the army.
[00:23:19] Brad: Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Ashley, my now wife moves in with me.
[00:23:23] Brad: We’re living together at,
[00:23:24] Aaron: at, at that time. How big is this shed.
[00:23:27] Brad: 300 square feet. I’ll also, we have pictures of it. Okay. Okay. We have pictures of it. Yeah.
[00:23:30] Aaron: Well, we’ll, we’ll show it in.
[00:23:31] Brad: Yeah. We’ll
[00:23:31] Aaron: show it.
[00:23:32] Brad: It was basically like finished on the inside. It had a little window ac unit in it that was very moldy.
[00:23:37] Aaron: Nice.
[00:23:37] Brad: Yeah, it was, dude, I got a really bad cough at that time. I think from the mold when we moved out. Boom. Cough stopped.
[00:23:44] Aaron: It’s crazy.
[00:23:45] Brad: It was,
[00:23:45] Aaron: no, the mold is bit bad.
[00:23:46] Brad: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, so we do that and uh, that was when I started, you know, running the business. I really got serious about the business in, at the end of 2021 when I actually, my dad and I were flipping a house together.
[00:23:59] Aaron: Mm.
[00:23:59] Brad: [00:24:00] And we sold it and I said, Hey, I don’t want my share. We made a lot, like first of whatever reason, that house worked out in a really strange way. There was like an insurance thing from the county. They literally just gave us like 200 grand.
[00:24:09] Aaron: Wow.
[00:24:10] Brad: And it was like, basically the renovation was completely free.
[00:24:12] Brad: So we made a, a ton of extra money on it. And so I was like, Hey, keep my portion, but I want 62% of the business.
[00:24:20] Aaron: Well, at that time you
[00:24:21] Brad: had more equity worth nothing. Yeah. Zero equity. Oh,
[00:24:23] Aaron: interesting.
[00:24:24] Brad: Yeah, I wasn’t gifted to me.
[00:24:25] Aaron: Wow.
[00:24:25] Brad: Yeah. Why
[00:24:26] Aaron: you bought it.
[00:24:26] Brad: Yeah.
[00:24:27] Aaron: So you basically were given a job by your
[00:24:28] Brad: parents and it wasn’t even and it wasn’t worth, yeah, I was given a job and it wasn’t worth what I paid for.
[00:24:32] Brad: It was worth, well, less than, than what I paid for it.
[00:24:34] Aaron: Oh.
[00:24:35] Brad: But my parents had never had any money.
[00:24:38] Aaron: Wow.
[00:24:38] Brad: You know, like not nothing substantial, you know, they’ve always gotten by. That’s great. Yeah.
[00:24:44] Aaron: That’s awesome. So, okay, so you bought into the business. Mm-hmm. So now you’re bought in. Now you feel it’s yours and then you’re rolling.
[00:24:50] Aaron: And is this now Scientology? When does it come in? So this is end of 2021. You already restarted a little bit of stuff or what? Okay.
[00:24:56] Brad: Yeah. I kind of
[00:24:57] Aaron: started
[00:24:58] Brad: get a concept of responsibility. So you got,
[00:24:59] Aaron: you [00:25:00] got smart, right? Dude,
[00:25:00] Brad: it’s, you got smart
[00:25:01] Aaron: pretty fast.
[00:25:01] Brad: It’s like you look at somebody’s life who, who wasn’t a Scientologist, and then, and then find Scientology, somebody who’s actually looking to improve.
[00:25:10] Brad: Like when I walked in the door of, I went to the church in Tampa.
[00:25:13] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:25:14] Brad: When I walked in the door, um, you know, they checked me in, like, there’s always a reception, you know, sign in, and then I sit down with somebody who’s gonna tour me and they’re like, so what are you here to handle? Like, what do you want help with?
[00:25:24] Brad: Because obviously you want something. Mm-hmm. And I’m like, I’m here because I wanna reach my potential. I was like, wow. I know I’m not anywhere near my full potential.
[00:25:32] Aaron: Wow.
[00:25:33] Brad: Yeah. Now the cool thing is, what I’ve come to realize being a Scientologist now for four years, is I actually didn’t even know what my potential was.
[00:25:40] Brad: And now the game for me is, what is my potential?
[00:25:43] Aaron: Mm.
[00:25:43] Brad: I knew I wasn’t near it. Now I’m like, oh, fuck. Geez, I don’t even know how high the potential goes. Mm-hmm. Lemme keep pushing to see how far it goes. Mm-hmm. So, different game entirely, but, uh, yeah.
[00:25:54] Aaron: Okay.
[00:25:55] So
[00:25:55] Aaron: from the moment that you, uh,
[00:25:57] Brad: oh. Oh, I was gonna make a point though.
[00:25:59] Brad: Yeah. Go, go, go. [00:26:00] If you see somebody’s life and like they weren’t a Scientologist, and then now they were, and there’s kind of an inflection point in the middle there. You really dig into them, they will wind up explaining to you how Scientology was the factor. 99.9% of my sex, percent of my success. Not sex.
[00:26:18] Brad: No, no, not sex.
[00:26:24] Brad: 99.9%. My success I do
[00:26:26] Aaron: mind
[00:26:27] Brad: is God damnit somebody, get me on the cans. So 99.9% of my success is attributable directly to Scientology. Wi without Scientology. I can’t, I I would not have been able to access that on my own.
[00:26:44] Aaron: Mm.
[00:26:44] Brad: Because if I would’ve been able to, I would’ve done it
[00:26:46] Aaron: right.
[00:26:47] Brad: There was no lack of desire.
[00:26:49] Brad: There was no lack of push. I mean, dude, like my wife will tell you, when I first started in construction, I would consistently like three or four days a week be up until one or two in the morning [00:27:00] watching construction videos, learning how to estimate things. ’cause I didn’t know what the hell I was doing.
[00:27:04] Brad: So I would learn it.
[00:27:05] Aaron: Wow.
[00:27:05] Brad: I’d be like, I don’t know how to retile a shower, so I don’t know how to price it. ’cause I don’t know how long it’s gonna take. Lemme watch a video from start to finish of a guy retiling, a shower. So I learn every little nuance of this thing. So I was extremely dedicated. But dedication alone doesn’t get results.
[00:27:19] Aaron: Mm-hmm. Right.
[00:27:20] Brad: Yeah.
[00:27:20] Aaron: And so, and so you were in the field from 2017? That’s 2017? 2018. 2019. 20 20, 20 21.
[00:27:26] Brad: I was in and out of the field, in and out. I did do a lot of labor myself. Mm-hmm. Like, uh, mostly the biggest place that I really learned what the labor thing consists of is my dad and I were always flipping a house along the way.
[00:27:35] Aaron: Okay.
[00:27:35] Brad: We probably flipped like four or five houses in that time period. And I would do the manual labor there. So I got the concept of how hard or easy things were. So now at this point in my business, it’s very hard to trick me. I basically can’t be tricked.
[00:27:47] Aaron: Right.
[00:27:48] Brad: Somebody’s like, this is so hard. I’m like, no, it’s not.
[00:27:50] Brad: Give it to me. Boom. I do it. And I’m like, not hard. If I can do it, you can do it. Look at these soft hands.
[00:27:54] Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So, so in 2021, uh, beginning of [00:28:00] 2021 Yeah. Is when, uh, you told Ashley, Hey, we’re gonna stop the parties. Mm-hmm. Re gonna stop the open relationship. Mm-hmm. And then,
[00:28:06] Brad: uh, 2020.
[00:28:07] Aaron: Oh, 2020.
[00:28:07] Brad: Yeah.
[00:28:08] Aaron: Okay.
[00:28:08] Brad: So there was about a year in there, you know, post COVID, maybe this was like Yeah. A little bit post COVID. So there’s a year in there where still things weren’t getting markedly better.
[00:28:20] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:28:20] Brad: You know?
[00:28:21] Aaron: Yep.
[00:28:21] Brad: It was still like a little, eh
[00:28:24] Aaron: Yep.
[00:28:25] Brad: Things just not going well.
[00:28:26] Aaron: Right, right.
[00:28:27] Brad: Yeah.
[00:28:27] Aaron: And then how did, how did you find Scientology?
[00:28:31] Brad: So, uh, in. Back in 2018, a friend of mine named Matt, really good friend of mine, I’ve known this guy since I was two actually. He’s the only childhood friend who I’m still in touch with. He’s an amazing person and uh, he’ll probably see this, Matt, love you, man. So he introduced me to a guy named Grant Cardone back in 2018, and I hated this guy in 2018.
[00:28:54] Brad: I did not like him. I did not like him.
[00:28:57] Aaron: Sure, sure.
[00:28:58] Brad: And, uh, you know, fast forward [00:29:00] to 2020 and now I’m like, okay, I had this sales problem. So I’m like, okay, well Grant has sales training material. So I’m like, I start reading grant’s book, books on sales. I read Seller Be Sold Closer Survival Guide, and then I read Be Obsessed or Be Average.
[00:29:14] Brad: Mm-hmm. And that was in February, which we have Right. Which somewhere myself. Yeah. We have. Yeah. There you go. I read this book. Yeah,
[00:29:18] Aaron: yeah. Yeah.
[00:29:18] Brad: Actually, I listened to the audio book. Thank God I was amazing. Was the audio book. Thank God. Why would not be a Scientologist if I hadn’t listened to the, to the audio book?
[00:29:25] Brad: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Because in the audio book, grant says towards the end of it, he says, if you wanna learn how to eliminate negativity from your mind forever. Read the book Dianetics by El Ron Hubbard.
[00:29:36] Aaron: Mm.
[00:29:36] Brad: Oh dude. We should clip in the clip from his audiobook. Absolutely.
[00:29:39] Aaron: Let’s do it.
[00:29:39] Brad: Yeah. Okay.
[00:29:40] Aaron: Throw it in there.
[00:29:40] Brad: So he says, read the book Dianetics by El Ron Hubbard. And so I’m literally in my head, I’m like, oh, that’s that Scientology bleep.
[00:29:48] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:29:48] Brad: Right. Expletive.
[00:29:49] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:29:50] Brad: And I’m like, well, okay. I’ve tried grant’s material, I’ve seen that it works. I really like what this guy’s saying. ’cause be obsessed or be average.
[00:29:58] Brad: Really spoke to me.
[00:29:58] Aaron: I love that
[00:29:59] Brad: book because in that [00:30:00] book he explains how he went from being a literal drug addict. He was a drug addict at 25. He went to rehab, he overdosed three times. I know people who are, who have been and were and still are drug addicts, I’m in construction. I see this all the time.
[00:30:16] Brad: They don’t get better.
[00:30:17] Aaron: Right?
[00:30:18] Brad: They people who are addicted to drugs, they either find a way to get off of them and live like handsome out the rest of their life or they die. Those are the two outcomes that I have seen for people on drugs. And so for that guy to say. I overdosed three times. At 25, I went into rehab, and then I stopped doing drugs, and now I’m worth, now he’s going on a billion mm-hmm.
[00:30:37] Brad: Plus dollars net worth. One of the most well-known business people on the planet.
[00:30:41] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:30:41] Brad: I’m like, that’s not possible.
[00:30:44] Aaron: Mm.
[00:30:44] Brad: There’s, how, how there’s, that’s unexplainable except for one explanation, which is this book that he says to read, which I’ve been like, no, no, no way. So I’m like, okay, let I get the book on Audible, and I listen to the book Dianetics, and within like the synopsis [00:31:00] chapter, I was like, oh my God, this is what I’ve been looking for.
[00:31:02] Aaron: Wow.
[00:31:03] Brad: Because I was looking for a thing. I’ve always known that mental Right. I, I point to the head, but mental is not the brain. Right. I’ve always known that the mind, uh, which is actually a spiritual Right. That’s actually a spiritual piece of you. Mm-hmm. The mind is actually spiritual. It’s not a physical brain.
[00:31:20] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:31:21] Brad: Um, the mind is senior to anything going on in the material world. Mm-hmm. I’ve always known that. It was always real to me. And, and so I was like, there’s got to be some manual for the mind. There’s gotta be somebody who’s figured this thing out. And I would read these books like, um, I, I don’t want to name ’em ’cause I’m not sure, I’m not a fan of them, but, but I would read these books on spirituality and energy and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
[00:31:44] Brad: And it was like, they’d always be getting close and I could tell there’s a kernel of truth in what they say. Mm-hmm. But none of them nailed it. Dianetics nailed it. I was like, wow, this is a mechanical explanation for how things work. And it explains all of the things that I were seemingly unexplainable [00:32:00] to me about how people acted, about how I acted, about how my wife acted about, about how my parents acted.
[00:32:05] Brad: Mm-hmm.
[00:32:05] Aaron: And
[00:32:06] Brad: I was like, oh my God, I actually found the manual to the mind here. Which actually don’t people call, doesn’t he call Dynetics the manual to the mind? Yeah,
[00:32:13] Aaron: I believe so.
[00:32:13] Brad: In some places like that. I remember thinking that and I was like, wow. This is actually it. And so obviously he talks about, you know, the reactive mind.
[00:32:21] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:32:22] Brad: And, you know, being clear, I am not clear. Nice. Very, very happy about that. You too. And uh, I was like, man, this is, this is what I’ve been looking for. This can help me to actually reach my potential.
[00:32:34] Aaron: So you just started, you’re getting in, you’re like, boom, well
[00:32:36] Brad: I reads,
[00:32:37] Aaron: you read the whole thing.
[00:32:38] Brad: Yeah.
[00:32:39] Brad: Yeah. Listen to the whole audio book and at the end credits. I remember going shit because I’m like, my mom has always kind of been like my terminal for me. Mm-hmm. Where I, you know, I go to her if I need help with something, like no matter what it is, she’ll always help me. So I’m like, man, I’m okay. I’m already working out this game plan.
[00:32:53] Brad: I’m like, okay, I’m gonna have to get my mom to read genetics and then train, get her to be an auditor. She’s gonna audit me.
[00:32:58] Aaron: Right.
[00:32:59] Brad: Right. [00:33:00] Wow. I’m like, game planning. How am I gonna get my mom to, to clear me basically. And, uh. So I’m like, that’s gonna be really tough. Yeah. Let me, let me just see. And then I Googled Church of Scientology near me and I remember I was coming off of 2 75 towards my apartment.
[00:33:13] Brad: I lived in downtown Tampa and I Googled Church of Scientology near me and there’s one five minutes from my apartment Wow. In Tampa. And I was like, oh wow. So I filled out a contact form and a girl named Destiny, great friend of mine. Oh
[00:33:26] Aaron: yeah, I know
[00:33:26] Brad: Destiny. You know Destiny? Yeah.
[00:33:27] Aaron: Yeah.
[00:33:27] Brad: Destiny calls me
[00:33:28] Aaron: Destiny calls.
[00:33:30] Brad: Destiny calls.
[00:33:30] Aaron: Okay.
[00:33:31] Brad: That’s right. Good name. And, uh, and she says, Hey, you know, we got your contact form. I saw you’re looking to, and I literally put, I want to achieve my full potential. Please help. Wow. She’s like, I saw your contact form. Listen, I’m gonna send you a video. Watch the video, and then let’s have you come in tomorrow at 10 and you can see the building and you know, see, see if, if this can help you.
[00:33:51] Brad: And, uh, obviously it could help me. She, she did a good job of holding back, like not being over excited. Yeah,
[00:33:55] Aaron: yeah. Not being too aggressive.
[00:33:57] Brad: Yeah, exactly. So I walk in, I do the tour, they’re [00:34:00] like, I took a personality test. Yep. And mine was like, happiness, like negative 80. So it was like happiness, negative 80, and then up in communication like 90.
[00:34:09] Aaron: Wow.
[00:34:09] Brad: But then like, slanted down
[00:34:11] Aaron: Wow.
[00:34:12] Brad: With like a very low point on responsibility. Mm-hmm. But it was like unhappy. But remember earlier how I talked about how I portrayed myself as a very happy person.
[00:34:20] Aaron: Yes. Yes.
[00:34:21] Brad: I had the, the face. I could do the face all the time, even when I’m miserable. Like boot of life on Yeah.
[00:34:29] Brad: On the head. Yeah. Into the dirt. The smile would never go away.
[00:34:33] Aaron: Right, right.
[00:34:34] Brad: But for the first time, I’m, I’m like, I actually, I had a very similar reaction to, to what you had. I almost cried.
[00:34:39] Aaron: Yeah.
[00:34:39] Brad: I was very, I didn’t cry. ’cause I’m not, ’cause I’m not Well
[00:34:43] Aaron: a whip.
[00:34:44] Brad: I’m not a whimp.
[00:34:45] Aaron: Hey. I was also like
[00:34:46] Brad: myself, I’m trying to say to
[00:34:47] Aaron: myself 14, bro.
[00:34:47] Aaron: 13, 14.
[00:34:48] Brad: Oh, that’s true. That’s true.
[00:34:49] Aaron: I was like a child. Well, you know what? I dunno. I dunno if I later it would’ve
[00:34:52] Brad: been, well, I’ve cried a lot since. Yeah. So,
[00:34:53] Aaron: okay. Okay.
[00:34:54] Brad: Yeah,
[00:34:54] Aaron: it’s all good.
[00:34:55] Brad: I probably cried on camera. So anyways, uh, yeah, I’m like at, at the point of tears ’cause I’m [00:35:00] like, wow, this actually indi like this actually indicates to me how I actually feel about myself if I’m being honest.
[00:35:07] Aaron: Right.
[00:35:08] Brad: I’m actually not happy at all. And then,
[00:35:10] Aaron: yeah, you look, you’re looking at a piece of yourself in the face,
[00:35:12] Brad: dude,
[00:35:13] Aaron: that you’d not really looking at.
[00:35:15] Brad: The result of that personality test blew my mind because it was so accurate.
[00:35:18] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:35:19] Brad: I was like. How does, how did this get this outta the questions I just answered, you know?
[00:35:25] Brad: Yep,
[00:35:25] Aaron: absolutely. It’s crazy. It shocked me too. I’m like, huh.
[00:35:27] Brad: Yeah. So I’m like, the, the negative 80 happy. So the girl looking at it, she’s like, it seems like you’re not that happy.
[00:35:37] Brad: And I was, I was like, I was like, wow, I’ve never admitted this to anyone, but I’m really not. Wow. Like, I’m actually pretty miserable.
[00:35:44] Aaron: Wow.
[00:35:44] Brad: And, uh, she’s like, well, do you want to, do you wanna do a course? She’s like, there’s courses that can literally help you with the things that are contributing to that.
[00:35:53] Aaron: Yeah.
[00:35:53] Brad: And I was like, yeah, yeah, yeah, let’s do that. And so she’s like, well, there’s these five courses all in, like, there’s uh, [00:36:00] there’s like different like. Intro courses that you can do.
[00:36:02] Aaron: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
[00:36:03] Brad: And there’s ones that like tie into each other and kind of like prerequisite, like routes, right? Yep. So she’s like, well, this, this route would be kind of like your general life and like, if you’re unhappy, this is probably the thing that’s gonna help you the most.
[00:36:12] Brad: So I was like, okay, good. She’s like, do you want to do all five of ’em? And it’s only 250 bucks. Yeah. It’ll take a couple weeks to get through ’em, maybe months. And I’m, I literally didn’t have the 250 bucks I wanted to do it. I literally didn’t have the 250 bucks in my bank account.
[00:36:24] Aaron: Wow. Mm-hmm.
[00:36:24] Brad: So it’s like, let I try to play it cool.
[00:36:26] Brad: I’m like, let me. Let me just do the one. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Lemme just do the first one. Yeah. Yeah. Because I actually had the, I had like $130 in my bank account.
[00:36:32] Aaron: Right, right.
[00:36:33] Brad: So I’m like, I, I buy the course, I go and do the course. That course was, it was good.
[00:36:38] Aaron: And which course is this?
[00:36:39] Brad: Uh, it was overcoming ups and downs.
[00:36:40] Aaron: Okay.
[00:36:41] Brad: So I do that one. It was, it was good.
[00:36:42] Aaron: Yep.
[00:36:43] Brad: Um, it didn’t, like, wasn’t necessarily every asking time. Now I do that course and I’m like, oh, I love that
[00:36:49] Aaron: because there’s layers. I feel like
[00:36:50] Brad: there are,
[00:36:51] Aaron: there’s layers, like in the, when you do these courses, like how much do you get if you read it one time and you know absolutely nothing, you might get 10% of it and it might be nice.[00:37:00]
[00:37:00] Aaron: Think I got, but there’s layers in there at 1%. Yeah. Yeah. So
[00:37:03] Brad: the person who it describes as like the antisocial personality, I was in business with one of those at the time and couldn’t even see it.
[00:37:09] Aaron: Wow.
[00:37:09] Brad: Yeah. More on that later.
[00:37:11] Aaron: Okay.
[00:37:11] Brad: So then I do the second course, which is called Personal Values and Integrity.
[00:37:15] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:37:15] Brad: And first off, I loved the title of the course because like integrity is something that has always like, uh. It is just a thing that
[00:37:23] Aaron: resonates.
[00:37:24] Brad: Yeah. Just resonates. That’s right. Yeah. That’s the word I was looking for. It resonates with me. And I, it’s always been one thing where I’m like, wow, I love that.
[00:37:30] Brad: So I do it. And in that course, he says something to the effect of, uh, nothing in Scientology is true unless it is true by your observation. Mm-hmm. And like, that’s the truth. And, and maybe says like, in that Scientology, and I was like, whoa. Holy cow. I was like, ’cause I, I was raised, uh, in a Lutheran church.
[00:37:51] Brad: Mm. Like, I grew up, uh, it’s like a part of, it’s a very like, normal, like they don’t really do anything weird, but it’s very like,
[00:37:57] Aaron: that’s fine. I’ve heard of Lutherans. I don’t, I’ve [00:38:00]
[00:38:00] Brad: Yeah, I
[00:38:00] Aaron: know a few of them.
[00:38:00] Brad: They’re pretty chill.
[00:38:01] Aaron: Yeah.
[00:38:01] Brad: But, uh, you know, it was very much, you know, it was kind of like, here’s what you believe.
[00:38:07] Brad: Believe it.
[00:38:08] Aaron: Right.
[00:38:08] Brad: And it was always kind of like a sales cycle on like, Hey, you should believe this. You should believe this.
[00:38:12] Aaron: Yes.
[00:38:12] Brad: Yes. And for this guy, the guy who, who founded the religion to say, Hey, if you don’t like, you need to see that this is true. And then it’s true. Right. It’s like,
[00:38:24] Aaron: and if not, then it’s not.
[00:38:25] Brad: Yeah, that’s right. And so it just made me so right that I was like, wow, I always knew that that’s what it was. And, and he also talk, talks in that course about be, he doesn’t say this, but the concept is like having the the stones to actually say, say what you see. Mm-hmm. Like you see something and say, actually say it.
[00:38:45] Brad: ’cause there’s so many people who walk around in society Yeah. Ignoring these huge, massive problems. It’s like a house is on fire. You’d be like, that house is on fire. They’d be like, no, it’s simply warm. Yeah. Simply un un [00:39:00] uncomfortably warm. Yeah. It’s like it’s on fire. Somebody put the house out.
[00:39:03] Aaron: Yeah.
[00:39:03] Brad: Like there’s so many things like that in society and I felt like.
[00:39:06] Brad: Honestly a crazy person.
[00:39:07] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:39:08] Brad: Like pointing things out to people and being like, do you see that this is really going bad? And being like, should we do something about it? And they’ll be like, no, no, it’s fine. No, somebody’s gonna handle it. And I’m like, nobody’s gonna handle it. So, you know, I, I’ll have to think of like what an example of that is, but I just knew that that happened again and again to me, where I would point something out and it’s very real to me that that was there and everybody else would be like, no, no, it’s not actually there.
[00:39:31] Aaron: Well, if you’re talking about a business partner that was
[00:39:33] Brad: Yeah.
[00:39:33] Aaron: Maybe screwing you over.
[00:39:34] Brad: That’s right.
[00:39:35] Aaron: And someone was like, can’t you see this guy scream over? You’re like, no, he’s cool. He’s chill.
[00:39:38] Brad: That’s right.
[00:39:38] Aaron: He’s all good.
[00:39:39] Brad: Yeah.
[00:39:39] Aaron: You know, I mean, that, that, gimme an example. So
[00:39:41] Brad: that course, dude, that course, that course, that course got me.
[00:39:47] Brad: That course made me a Scientologist.
[00:39:48] Aaron: Wow.
[00:39:48] Brad: To be honest. And uh, I remember I had told my wife like a week before when I was finishing the first course, Hey, so I’m doing a course at the Church of Scientology. And she’s like, she’s like, [00:40:00] that was like her first response. Yeah.
[00:40:02] Aaron: Yeah.
[00:40:02] Brad: Because she had a bunch of weird information on it, um, from, you know, family and friends and news and blah, blah, blah.
[00:40:08] Brad: And so I bring this pack home and, uh, I show her that line about, you know, nothing in Scientology is true unless it’s true by your observation. Mm-hmm. And she, she sees it and she’s like, looks at it, walks over, does something, then comes back and she’s like, you think I could get a tour? And she’s like,
[00:40:25] Aaron: wow.
[00:40:25] Aaron: One line.
[00:40:27] Brad: Yeah.
[00:40:27] Aaron: That was a, that was a one-liner pickup
[00:40:29] line.
[00:40:29] Brad: One liner one one line pickup line. Exactly. Yeah. So, uh, then she went in and she just freaking rocketed, like, got way ahead of me for a long time. Mm-hmm. Like, really, she was like, wow, this is like really what I’ve been looking for. Like, you know.
[00:40:44] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:40:45] Brad: So that, that was a really proud moment for me when I was like, okay. I actually showed her something that really helped her. And it, and it has helped us in our relationship unbelievably. Mm-hmm. It’s, it’s really been incredible. We wouldn’t be together. We were going [00:41:00] for, like, we would’ve split up for sure.
[00:41:03] Aaron: You guys had, you guys have talked about that already, or you just, and you, you could fake it or
[00:41:06] Brad: what? No, but in, in talking about it, we both knew. Mm. Like we’ve talked about it together many times of like, yeah. If we, if we didn’t find Scientology and handle ourselves individually, then we would not have been able to stay together.
[00:41:19] Brad: Yeah. We, we were on the road to peace out. Yeah. You got, yeah. Yeah.
[00:41:22] Aaron: Now you mentioned, so you did these, uh, do you do the five of those five courses?
[00:41:25] Brad: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:41:26] Aaron: Okay.
[00:41:26] Brad: Oh, I’ve done almost every single one since
[00:41:28] Aaron: then. Oh, nice. Yeah. Nice. Yeah, I know someone who does all of them once a year. He’s, anyway.
[00:41:33] Brad: Is it,
[00:41:33] Aaron: I mean, they’re fast.
[00:41:33] Brad: Is it Michael?
[00:41:34] Aaron: No. Oh,
[00:41:34] Brad: okay. No,
[00:41:36] Aaron: but okay, so, um, now you said the first thing you did was a confessional, so what does that mean? The first, obviously it wasn’t the first thing ’cause you did something else
[00:41:44] Brad: before, so, yeah. Yeah. So I did that course, but then, so there, there’s a thing called like a, like a major action, right?
[00:41:49] Brad: And there’s, there’s a thing which is called the E-meter. And you know, e-meter is a tool, right? Like you hold the cans and it just, you know. Help, it helps find things, right? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. That, that’s your reality. [00:42:00] Is that a good description of it?
[00:42:01] Aaron: Yeah. So, so yeah, the immediate, we could go into it, there’s like a few videos, but if you see like all those Super Bowl commercials Yeah.
[00:42:05] Aaron: There’s like this machine thing comes out and it, um, it basically can find the trouble spots in your life. That’s right. Help you or help, uh, a minister, somebody help you locate what’s the real issues.
[00:42:17] Brad: Yeah. So, so that, that tool is, that’s where a lot of the magic of Scientology comes from mm-hmm. By my observation.
[00:42:28] Aaron: Yep. Yep.
[00:42:29] Brad: Is like, that’s, that’s where it really gets really ins like, insanely like crazy good. That’s what it did for me anyways. Yeah. So the first thing that I did that was like considered a major action was that like the first time I ever picked up the cans was to do what’s called a confessional, which is bare, where you basically tell the auditor all the bad stuff you did.
[00:42:50] Aaron: Yep. Yeah.
[00:42:51] Brad: And so I was doing that for, you know, 80, 90 hours of that. And, uh, you know, just boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. [00:43:00] And things actually started moving in my life. At that point, things started like actually picking up, picking up the pace. Good. You know? Good, good. And what I thought was bad at the time, but actually turned out to be good.
[00:43:11] Brad: It all wound up actually being good, but like during that, like me and the business partner split up
[00:43:17] Aaron: Yep.
[00:43:17] Brad: You know, is like a lot of the, the bad business partner obviously. Sure, sure, sure. But like a lot of things really started like change.
[00:43:23] Aaron: A lot of changes.
[00:43:24] Brad: So much change. Dude. It like literally at the start of that versus the end of that, my entire life changed.
[00:43:31] Aaron: Wow.
[00:43:32] Brad: Literally my wife and I on my ring on right now, but we literally got married at the end of that.
[00:43:37] Aaron: Mm.
[00:43:37] Brad: And I literally texted her one night as I was coming home ’cause I had the realization. I was like, oh wow. So, oh, I forgot to tell you at the beginning of our relationship, just before the statement of like, Hey, we’re gonna have an open relationship.
[00:43:51] Brad: Me, not you. I told her, by the way, I’m never getting married. Because I, I’ve been married. I, I was married once before.
[00:43:57] Aaron: Okay,
[00:43:57] Brad: okay. Yeah. So we got divorced. I got divorced [00:44:00] like Right, right. As kind of as we met each other and I was like, I’m not getting married again.
[00:44:04] Aaron: So you let her know.
[00:44:05] Brad: Yeah. So I let her know that that was like, Hey, for sure.
[00:44:09] Brad: And I literally text her one night, like, you know, probably like January of 2022 and I text her and I’m like, Hey, we should get married.
[00:44:22] Brad: And she’s like,
[00:44:22] Aaron: so it took, it, it took off your block, but it didn’t give you any, any romantic, uh, any, any,
[00:44:27] Brad: yeah.
[00:44:29] Aaron: So,
[00:44:30] Brad: so she’s like, she calls me and she’s like, what? She’s like, are you serious? Are you messing with me right now? ’cause I love to mess with
[00:44:37] Aaron: her. Sure, sure, sure.
[00:44:37] Brad: She’s like, is this a joke? And I was like, no, it’s not a joke when you get back.
[00:44:41] Brad: ’cause she was actually on, on a, on a re on a retreat. I’m like, when you get back, we’ll get married. I was like, and we need, and we need to have a kid, like, we need to get pregnant as soon you get as you go. And we did
[00:44:52] Aaron: what?
[00:44:52] Brad: Yeah.
[00:44:52] Aaron: Okay. Had you and you, you hadn’t talked about kids either or
[00:44:56] Brad: you were No, we had talked about kids.
[00:44:57] Aaron: You said
[00:44:57] Brad: you were, have kids, did not get
[00:44:58] Aaron: married.
[00:44:58] Brad: Talked kids. Yeah. Oh, we had [00:45:00] talked about kids since day one, and we’ve been together at that point. We got together in 20, I, it was 2016 or 2017. Uh, and that would’ve been 2022. So we’d been together for like six years at that point. We’ve been talking about kids the whole time.
[00:45:12] Aaron: Interesting. So, so, wow. So you were like, Hey, let’s have children and not be married.
[00:45:17] Brad: Yeah.
[00:45:18] Aaron: Okay, fine.
[00:45:20] Brad: Dude. The, the,
[00:45:21] Aaron: you know, you know, the moment you decided like to not get married, uh, uh, in your life again. Like what, you know, what point you made that like, decision?
[00:45:28] Brad: Yeah. When, when my first wife and I split up Yeah.
[00:45:31] Brad: When, when she left me actually.
[00:45:32] Aaron: Okay.
[00:45:33] Brad: Yeah. Yeah. That I was like, I was like, what I, what I, so I’ve always, like, even before being a Scientologist, I was always in the mindset of like. If something bad happens, turn it into something good.
[00:45:46] Aaron: Mm.
[00:45:46] Brad: Like there’s a really great saying I like that floats around the internet, that I love it.
[00:45:51] Brad: It might be a, and it might actually be a Dan Kennedy datum.
[00:45:53] Aaron: Okay.
[00:45:54] Brad: He says, if you can’t fix it, you feature it.
[00:45:57] Aaron: Mm. Okay. It’s
[00:45:59] Brad: like, [00:46:00] okay,
[00:46:00] Aaron: yeah.
[00:46:00] Brad: If you can’t handle it, at least figure out a way to make it into a positive. So I was like, okay. Wife left me getting divorced. Okay, fine. I was like, ’cause at that point I was actually very like, I’d maybe dated like three girls.
[00:46:15] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:46:15] Brad: Mm-hmm. One of ’em was, was my wife at the time, like very, you know, chased, you know, good boy. And, uh, I was like, well, I’m a free man. I can go be wild. I was like, that’s the positive. I was like, I was like, new life. That’s what I literally thought was happening. Wow. I was like, oh wow. This is my second lease on life.
[00:46:33] Brad: It actually wasn’t. Was actually my second lease on life happened in, in February 14th, 2021 when I walked in the doors of the Church of Scientology, Tampa
[00:46:41] Aaron: on Valentine’s Day.
[00:46:45] Brad: Is that Valentine’s Day? Yeah, it actually might have been,
[00:46:47] Aaron: it is 14th.
[00:46:47] Brad: It actually probably was
[00:46:48] Aaron: February 14th is Valentine’s Day.
[00:46:49] Brad: I think it actually,
[00:46:49] Aaron: well, I thought you were gonna say you got married because you’re like February 14th.
[00:46:52] Brad: No, no.
[00:46:53] Aaron: Oh, Valenti Scientology.
[00:46:53] Brad: Yeah.
[00:46:54] Aaron: That’s hilarious. Yeah. By the way, that is Valentine’s Day.
[00:46:56] Brad: Is it?
[00:46:57] Aaron: Yes. Dude, come on,
[00:46:58] Brad: dude. I’m not romantic. I’m telling [00:47:00] you
[00:47:00] Aaron: bro. This guy, you need aro. You need a romance lessons, bro.
[00:47:02] Brad: It’s true. I do.
[00:47:03] Aaron: I, I’ll figure out what course to give you. Have you ever, ever written, have you ever written a love letter in your life?
[00:47:08] Brad: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:47:09] Aaron: Okay.
[00:47:10] Brad: Yeah, so, well, I mean, at West Point I was, I was very romantic.
[00:47:12] Aaron: No, no, but with your wife.
[00:47:14] Brad: Well, I was married. Well, I was. I was with her. Your most
[00:47:16] Aaron: recent wife? Your current wife.
[00:47:17] Brad: No. Love letter. No,
[00:47:20] Aaron: that’s a problem.
[00:47:22] Brad: I’ll write a love check.
[00:47:23] I
[00:47:23] Aaron: think
[00:47:23] Brad: so. No
[00:47:24] Aaron: love. Check. Listen, listen.
[00:47:27] Brad: My company has love in the name of it.
[00:47:29] Brad: I’m planning
[00:47:29] Aaron: with it. Well, so then you gotta remember you have the smiley face on. Yeah. But then you gotta show that love, bro.
[00:47:33] Brad: It’s true.
[00:47:34] Aaron: I I’m just telling you, your wife will watch this podcast, so you have to do it before this goes live.
[00:47:38] Brad: Ugh.
[00:47:39] Aaron: But bro, did you ever do like more of an official proposal or anything?
[00:47:43] Aaron: Or you just did that text One, but listen bro, this is bad. This is bad.
[00:47:47] Brad: I know.
[00:47:48] Aaron: Do a love letter. I can help you.
[00:47:49] Brad: You wanna know what’s worse?
[00:47:50] Aaron: Yes. Go.
[00:47:51] Brad: I had the money set aside to buy her a a ring. So the reason I don’t have a ring on, I’ll just confess, is because you never bought rings.
[00:47:56] Aaron: Stop. You’re, you’ve been made this song.
[00:47:58] Aaron: You never had a ring.
[00:47:59] Brad: Yeah,
[00:47:59] Aaron: bro. This [00:48:00] ring. Guess how much this ring costs?
[00:48:01] Brad: A hundred bucks. I dunno.
[00:48:02] Aaron: Yes,
[00:48:03] Brad: you’re, yeah.
[00:48:03] Aaron: It’s a
[00:48:03] Brad: hundred bucks. That’s, that’s just, that’s just how you roll. It’s a
[00:48:05] Aaron: hundred bucks, bro.
[00:48:07] Brad: So,
[00:48:07] Aaron: Jared,
[00:48:09] Brad: I literally had the money set aside to buy her a beautiful ring about, this was like four months ago.
[00:48:14] Brad: I was like, okay, we gotta just handle this. I gotta get you a ring. And she finds out I have the money. She’s like, no, no, no, no, no, no. She’s like, she’s like, what is that money doing there? And I’m like, you gonna make me tell you? I was like, it’s to give you a ring. Listen bro. And then she’s like, no, don’t get the ring.
[00:48:27] Brad: Listen, listen, listen. Hold on, listen. She’s like, pay for our Disney trip instead. And I’m like, are you serious? You want the, but you know, she loves, she loves family. Here’s the thing. She would rather have a Disney trip with, with our family than the ring.
[00:48:38] Aaron: Did you, did you read this book?
[00:48:39] Brad: So it’s like,
[00:48:40] Aaron: did you read this book?
[00:48:41] Brad: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:48:44] Aaron: I, I don’t know if you really read it, bro, because
[00:48:48] Brad: I had a
[00:48:48] Aaron: You gotta do both.
[00:48:49] Brad: Yeah, that’s true
[00:48:50] Aaron: bro. Ring. That’s true for whether your company’s being Bro, get a ring today, bro. Don’t even go back to your office. Don’t go back to your house. Go get a ring. Write a love letter. I
[00:48:58] Brad: can guarantee you there’s not [00:49:00] gonna be a ring next
[00:49:00] Aaron: time, bro.
[00:49:02] Aaron: Listen, it doesn’t have to be that crazy, but to have something and also for yourself, bro, to show, to show that you’re proud that you’re married. And love letters bro, are amazing poems, songs. Anything you could do, do you, do you know that
[00:49:19] Brad: I’m
[00:49:19] Aaron: putting on Listen, women. Yeah, you put on Women are not gonna like tell you, wow, I would really love you to write a love letter for me because in their eyes, dude, if they said that and you did it, it wasn’t of your own creation.
[00:49:33] Aaron: Yeah. And they’re just doing it to themselves.
[00:49:34] Brad: That’s true. So
[00:49:36] Aaron: they won’t ask you.
[00:49:37] Brad: Yeah.
[00:49:37] Aaron: And in fact they’ll tell you not to. Don’t worry, I don’t need it.
[00:49:41] Brad: Yeah.
[00:49:41] Aaron: Listen, you women speak is something that I, that is uh, come on bro.
[00:49:45] Brad: Yeah.
[00:49:46] Aaron: Listen, love letters, rings, ring. Uh, you don’t need one ring, but like, dude, I’m just telling you right now, after this I will stop.
[00:49:53] Aaron: I will not stop giving this guy problems until he solves this with his own wife.
[00:49:59] Brad: Oh my
[00:49:59] Aaron: God, bro. [00:50:00] You know your daughters, you have two daughters.
[00:50:01] Brad: Yep.
[00:50:02] Aaron: Would you want their husbands to be romantic with them? You don’t think it’s important?
[00:50:09] Brad: I don’t care.
[00:50:10] Aaron: You know,
[00:50:11] Brad: I mean, it’s just not a, it’s just not a button for me.
[00:50:13] Aaron: It’s not about you, bro.
[00:50:14] Brad: I would want them to be successful.
[00:50:16] Aaron: Oh, I
[00:50:16] Brad: know. I would want them to be successful. Uh, I want them to be very ethical.
[00:50:21] Aaron: Do you know the number one selling type of books that exist?
[00:50:24] Brad: Romance books, I’m sure, because for romance novels,
[00:50:26] Aaron: right.
[00:50:27] Brad: The,
[00:50:27] Aaron: the particularly women
[00:50:29] Brad: mm-hmm.
[00:50:29] Aaron: They love this concept.
[00:50:31] Brad: Mm-hmm.
[00:50:32] Aaron: They love this. Like, Bri, I guarantee you, you write like an amazing love poem and you give it to your wife. She will not only love it. You guys are gonna have a great night that night.
[00:50:45] Brad: Probably, however better than usual, something you need to know. There’s something you, so there’s something you need to know.
[00:50:51] Brad: Yeah. My wife, I asked, I have asked her on several occasions throughout our relationship, yes. Hey, do you wanna watch this Nicholas Sparks movie? She’s like, no, I hate those movies.
[00:50:59] Aaron: You know [00:51:00] why? Because it’s gonna shove it in her face that her husband hasn’t done that shit ever. If that was her, I would get away from that thing with, with like fire, but I’d be running away from that thing because she’s going to something.
[00:51:11] Aaron: She’s never like, you know what I’m saying?
[00:51:13] Brad: Maybe
[00:51:14] Aaron: I’m saying
[00:51:15] Brad: maybe after she comes on and tells her story, it’ll make more sense.
[00:51:18] Aaron: I know, but you try it.
[00:51:19] Brad: Hey, here’s a, here’s a
[00:51:21] Aaron: great, I, I want you to tell this. Listen,
[00:51:22] Brad: comments,
[00:51:22] Aaron: are you gonna consider, okay. Comments guys. Should a guy do anything romantic?
[00:51:28] Aaron: Should a guy write love letters to his wife? Uh, uh, write poems? Uh, the flower thing. I’m not great at the flowers, but I do it sometimes because I have to. I’m not actually, okay, so you gotta do flowers, but you I
[00:51:38] Brad: do. I do do flowers.
[00:51:39] Aaron: Flowers,
[00:51:40] Brad: right?
[00:51:40] Aaron: Without a note is half of the job.
[00:51:43] Brad: Oh, yeah. There’s,
[00:51:43] Aaron: it has to have the love in it, bro.
[00:51:45] Brad: Okay, fine.
[00:51:46] Aaron: Because listen, anyone can have flowers, anybody can have balloons, anybody, even the ring, but like. Do you know one thing that’s amazing? It’s communication. It is a communication. Something that you don’t like. You’re not gonna go and and, and be like, Hey, this is how I feel about you. And then just go on
[00:51:59] Brad: mm-hmm.
[00:51:59] Aaron: [00:52:00] For like two minutes straight talking about all the things you love about her. That’s not normal conversation. Is that normal? You don’t, you don’t do that, do you?
[00:52:05] Brad: Sometimes.
[00:52:05] Aaron: Okay.
[00:52:06] Brad: Absolutely.
[00:52:06] Aaron: So, uh, then you have to do a longer note.
[00:52:09] Brad: Okay, fine.
[00:52:09] Aaron: It, like, it’s, it’s a little bit unusual and it’s not in common like, discourse to be like, yeah, these are all the great things about you.
[00:52:17] Brad: Yeah.
[00:52:18] Aaron: But when you put it down and you spend that time mm-hmm. It’s such an amazing moment, bro. So, uh, I hope that by the time your wife sees this show, have been surprised. And if not, she’s gonna, you’re gonna hear it.
[00:52:26] Brad: So, you know what? I did write her love letter once. Oh, first day?
[00:52:29] Aaron: Yes. On your first date?
[00:52:30] Brad: No, no, when we were first dating.
[00:52:32] Aaron: Oh, okay.
[00:52:32] Brad: Maybe like six, eight months in,
[00:52:35] Aaron: something like that. I’m proud of you, bro.
[00:52:37] Brad: Yeah. Thank you.
[00:52:38] Aaron: Okay, so now round
[00:52:39] Brad: two, I need, I need to pick it back up.
[00:52:40] Aaron: Pick it back round two. Okay. We, so, so, so that’s it. That’s it for that. I’m, I’m not gonna
[00:52:44] Brad: roasting
[00:52:45] Aaron: my love. Yeah, I’m done.
[00:52:46] Aaron: Hey. You know, I’m, I, this is something that I’m someone, in case
[00:52:51] Brad: I haven’t said it, my wife is awesome,
[00:52:53] Aaron: just as Yeah, she’s a amazing, she’s, thank you.
[00:52:55] Brad: We’ll have to believe it.
[00:52:55] Aaron: Okay. How about, you know what, I’m gonna put you on the spot.
[00:52:57] Brad: Yeah.
[00:52:59] Aaron: Write a love [00:53:00] message to her right now on this podcast. Smart, short, go.
[00:53:04] Aaron: Okay. Like you were just saying,
[00:53:04] Brad: like, as if you want me to say like, you are blah, blah, fuck straight. Okay. Ashley, you’re an amazing mother. Uh, our kids are incredibly, uh, beautiful people, and it’s directly because of your example that you set for them. Uh, you inspire me to really like, on a daily basis, by the way, uh, to really actually get to work and contribute in a way that’s gonna make the world a better place because you deserve that.
[00:53:32] Brad: You, uh, you know, you put love into everything that you do. Like you, you get hold of something. And it just goes amazing. Like, it just boom, it takes off. The people are happy. Uh, it’s that way with our family. It’s that way in our business, in the areas that you run and people love you. Uh, and you know, you are really one of, if not actually the best thing about my life.
[00:53:56] Brad: And I wouldn’t want to do it without you. [00:54:00] Do you like that? That’s
[00:54:00] Aaron: beautiful.
[00:54:00] Brad: That’s pretty good, right? That’s beautiful.
[00:54:01] Aaron: Yeah. I love that.
[00:54:02] Brad: That’s why I don’t write love letters. ’cause I can just say that her,
[00:54:04] Aaron: yeah. So you know what
[00:54:05] Brad: I mean? And I do
[00:54:06] Aaron: Good.
[00:54:06] Brad: Yeah.
[00:54:06] Aaron: Good.
[00:54:07] Brad: But I will write a love letter.
[00:54:08] Aaron: Amazing.
[00:54:09] Brad: Yeah.
[00:54:09] Aaron: Amazing.
[00:54:09] Brad: Correction. Correction. Take.
[00:54:10] Aaron: Good. Okay, good. So now, uh, great. So, so you, you did the text marriage thing, uh, and then, and then, and then, uh, you got her pregnant like right away,
[00:54:21] Brad: right away before the marriage ceremony.
[00:54:24] Aaron: That’s great. Mm-hmm. That, that’s, that’s amazing. Yeah. And so, man, that’s, that’s great.
[00:54:28] Aaron: So tell me like, I. I dunno. That’s amazing. I just have to say that’s amazing. Um, the whole story and everything.
[00:54:37] Brad: Yeah.
[00:54:38] Aaron: And, um,
[00:54:40] Brad: well, well I can tell you, like, here’s the funny thing is that’s amazing, but then it really actually gets interesting.
[00:54:46] Aaron: Mm.
[00:54:47] Brad: Like it, it, for me life was actually, it was, it was bad, but it was actually really boring.
[00:54:52] Brad: Pre Scientology.
[00:54:53] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:54:54] Brad: Scientology actually gave me a game to play that’s actually like, [00:55:00] big enough, you know what I mean?
[00:55:01] Aaron: Mm-hmm. ‘
[00:55:03] Brad: cause before I was playing way too small and so like, get into Scientology, start actually studying the material. At one point I found, um. Basically the administrative works of El Ron Hubbard.
[00:55:18] Brad: Mm-hmm. The founder of Scientology. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. So he’s got this whole body of work that’s about how you run a group. Mm-hmm. Right. And I started learning that.
[00:55:25] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:55:26] Brad: And these are just general principles, right? These are, these are general principles that applied to any group will cause the group to run more smoothly, people to be more prosperous and for the group to expand.
[00:55:37] Brad: When I found that, and I started actually studying that and learning to, uh, really mimic the way that he set up the church. ’cause his stuff is, is for the church. You have to really digest and really come to understand, this is my personal opinion. Sure, sure. Is that you have to really come to a very deep understanding of it in order to apply it to a secular group or a company.
[00:55:57] Aaron: Mm-hmm. And
[00:55:58] Brad: so when I started playing [00:56:00] that game of actually learn upping my own ability to run a group with, you know, with love, with care, with actually home love. Yeah. Home love. With, with actually wanting the people in it to succeed and knowing how to get them to succeed. Mm-hmm. Right. Getting people to actually have a win and not just having to be surrounded by losses.
[00:56:20] Brad: That’s when stuff started getting really, really good. Uh, we get, maybe we can actually throw the graphs in here, but like pre Scientology, the, the graph of my company, it was trending up like we were up every year. Uh, but it was like from seven 50 k to like 2.1 million.
[00:56:35] Aaron: Yep.
[00:56:36] Brad: We then went from 2.1 million to 40 million in a, in the same amount of years basically.
[00:56:41] Aaron: Wow.
[00:56:42] Brad: So that inflection point and that, you know, tipping up of the graph, bro, it’s ’cause of Scientology. Like, I, I don’t, I don’t know what else to say about it. It’s like the, the major change in my life. Boom. Scientology and then, and we were talking about it on, uh, on [00:57:00] your episode. Mm-hmm. On the last episode.
[00:57:02] Brad: But like the number of highly successful, like monetarily, highly successful people like billionaires. By the way, there’s two that I found out about between then and now,
[00:57:11] Aaron: all
[00:57:11] Brad: two billionaires. So it’s five actually.
[00:57:12] Aaron: Okay.
[00:57:12] Brad: Five in the group.
[00:57:13] Aaron: Yep.
[00:57:14] Brad: So the chances just went up by another, like
[00:57:16] Aaron: Yeah, it’s, it’s 300 and I did some math on it anyway.
[00:57:20] Aaron: I It’s definitely way better chance.
[00:57:21] Brad: Way better chance. Yeah. Yeah. So, uh, anyways, it, that’s when it really started getting interesting and that’s when, uh, you know, there’s, there’s just been, dude, there’s been so much, uh, growth in me that I had always things I’d always wanted to do thing and, and the type of person I’d always wanted to be and had known that I could be, I just didn’t really know how.
[00:57:46] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:57:46] Brad: The trick is just to be it, obviously.
[00:57:48] Aaron: Yep,
[00:57:48] Brad: sure. But you can’t be it if you’re withholding yourself, you know, whatever that, that thing is that you’re trying to be. So that has been a fun, fun game to play is like actually [00:58:00] expanding the me. Into many different things and making a lot of things go really right.
[00:58:05] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[00:58:06] Brad: Making businesses grow, uh, making my relationship go amazing. Making my family life go amazing. Like I, you know, whenever I see a really successful person with their kids and their kids are also great and happy and having a great time. Like, when I see you with your kids, like when you did the, you know, your grand opening and us, the kids are running around like, you know, your little babies like trying to crawl.
[00:58:29] Brad: I’m like, wow, this is actually, this is an actual ideal scene is like the person’s got their, their group is really doing well, right? Their business is growing, expanding, doing amazing. The family’s doing well, the person’s doing well. You’re bright, you look great. I’m like, I want to be that. I want to have that.
[00:58:46] Brad: You know, ’cause if, if, if there’s like, the business is great, but then like the wife hates the guy and it’s like, he’s actually probably miserable.
[00:58:53] Aaron: I know. It’s, I, and we definitely, that definitely is not uncommon.
[00:58:57] Brad: Yeah.
[00:58:58] Aaron: So did you do the course [00:59:00] having happy baby?
[00:59:01] Brad: Oh, absolutely.
[00:59:02] Aaron: I mean, I’ll tell you,
[00:59:03] Brad: bro,
[00:59:03] Aaron: I think I’ve done it three times.
[00:59:04] Aaron: I’ve done, like, I have four children. We did it before the first, before the second, I think before the third on the fourth. I’m like, I think I got it.
[00:59:10] Brad: I’ve done it twice. Yeah.
[00:59:11] Aaron: Yeah. I’ve done it twice. Yeah.
[00:59:12] Brad: First one, second one. Yeah.
[00:59:13] Aaron: These, I mean, it’s amazing.
[00:59:15] Brad: Yeah. That, that data. So for anybody who, who’s, who’s seeing this, who isn’t a Scientologist, definitely one thing, uh, that, that I think anybody actually would agree with, but it just needs to be said more, is you cannot give your baby too much love and affection.
[00:59:31] Aaron: Mm.
[00:59:31] Brad: It’s impossible. You can’t give them too much. It’s, and anybody who says otherwise is evil and wants bad things to happen to you and your baby.
[00:59:40] Aaron: Right.
[00:59:41] Brad: That, like, that is just a fact. Um, and the other thing is like, when, when a baby is born, right, it’s important to tell them that you’re happy that you’re, they’re there.
[00:59:52] Aaron: Right?
[00:59:53] Brad: Like, you gotta realize there’s, there’s a, there’s a big person in that little body, right? And, uh. That, I’m [01:00:00] sure you had that experience, but when you actually really tell them, you know, give them a lot of love and affection, you really tell them, Hey, I’m so happy you’re here. Welcome. We’re gonna keep you, you’re safe.
[01:00:10] Brad: Like, you don’t have to worry about anything. We got you. Uh, you can, it’s see the baby, it’s, you can see the baby calm down.
[01:00:17] Aaron: I agree.
[01:00:17] Brad: Yeah. Like, I’m remembering each one. Wow. Where that moment where they’re like, you know, the, in the, in the, in the chorus, Ron talks about how they, they exhale. Like they,
[01:00:26] Aaron: yeah, they’re,
[01:00:27] Brad: well, I’ve seen it many.
[01:00:27] Brad: I Yeah, yeah. I’ve seen it with each one multiple times. Yeah. ’cause they’ll get riled up and then I, what I would do is I’d remind them Yeah.
[01:00:33] Aaron: Like,
[01:00:33] Brad: Hey, it’s okay. You know, you’re safe. We’re gonna keep you, you’re safe. It’s fine. And then, whew, don’t chill out. It’s like,
[01:00:42] Aaron: it’s very, I mean, it’s, it’s, that’s a really
[01:00:43] Brad: good
[01:00:43] Aaron: way to get emotion.
[01:00:44] Aaron: I’ll you emotional. Uh, one huge difference between like the psychology mind Yeah. And the Scientologist.
[01:00:51] Brad: Yeah.
[01:00:51] Aaron: Scientologists really believe in the human spirit, the person.
[01:00:54] Brad: Mm-hmm.
[01:00:55] Aaron: And I believe that that baby can definitely understand you. They know what’s going on. They know when you’re in [01:01:00] good mood. They know when you’re in bad mood.
[01:01:01] Aaron: And the psychologist is gonna say that baby knows nothing. They can’t even hear, they don’t, you know, they won’t ever remember anything. They never, like, they won’t be affected. Like, it’s a totally different mindset.
[01:01:12] Brad: Yeah.
[01:01:12] Aaron: And the point is, is that it’s not, it’s not just like a little piece of flesh, it’s actually a human being.
[01:01:18] Brad: Mm-hmm.
[01:01:19] Aaron: That’s again, in a, in a, in a baby body. Yeah. And so I feel like there’s, it’s a big difference when you treat someone like a human being.
[01:01:26] Brad: Mm-hmm.
[01:01:26] Aaron: You know what I mean? Because children are human beings.
[01:01:28] Brad: Yeah.
[01:01:28] Aaron: It’s not like, it’s not some other species or some other race or some other thing. It’s like, bro, that’s, that’s a person right there.
[01:01:34] Aaron: Yeah. And I think like that fundamental belief is so helpful in the, yeah. W talking to anybody in any, and like, not just children, but even other people. Mm-hmm. Like other people are human, like, anyway, that’s all.
[01:01:46] Brad: Yeah.
[01:01:46] Aaron: I’m,
[01:01:49] Brad: yeah, dude, I, I think it’d be an accurate statement to say we both really love our kids.
[01:01:52] Aaron: Yeah, I agree. I haven’t written my love. My kids a love letter, so I gotta work on that one. I, I hope I know. No, but hey, [01:02:00] listen, I have the, uh, uh, I have the expo, uh, for Luna’s art show that you’re coming to, uh, next week, which is amazing. I appreciate that. And, uh, yeah, I, I will say, I was just thinking how your old, your kids are, how old
[01:02:15] Brad: one’s?
[01:02:15] Brad: Two and a half. The other’s like half,
[01:02:18] Aaron: half, seven. Yeah. Yeah. It’s, yeah. There’s such a massive change in your life when those kids really start expressing themselves when they get older. Like, I will say that I, it’s really like that next chapter. So there’s like, you know, single and then there’s a family, and then you have the kids, and then when the kids are like fully alive and talking to you, I’m, you’re, I think.
[01:02:38] Aaron: You’re gonna have such a blast. Like, I feel like they keep us in check.
[01:02:41] Brad: Mm-hmm.
[01:02:42] Aaron: You’ll see us. ’cause like whatever you, they pick up on everything, bro.
[01:02:45] Brad: Mm-hmm.
[01:02:45] Aaron: These kids, they know everything. Yeah. And they’re like, they’ll watch you and, and they have no reservations. Mm-hmm. They have that integrity part that hasn’t been beaten outta them by life.
[01:02:54] Aaron: Like Yeah. They see, and they’re gonna say it and, and they’re gonna say what they think. And, anyway, bro, [01:03:00] I’m, I’m ha I’m excited for you, bro. I’m excited for you to have, uh, you know, your children to grow. Yeah. And I’m sure I’ll be around to see that, but, uh,
[01:03:05] Brad: yeah.
[01:03:06] Aaron: Yeah. So, dude, what do you think, uh, like, let’s say someone’s watching this.
[01:03:10] Aaron: They’re, they’ve gotten this far and they’re like, eh, well, I like, what, what do you recommend somebody does? They like, yeah, they’re thinking about Scientology or Dynamics and stuff and like, but they’re not sure. Maybe there’s like, I don’t know. I don’t wanna go there. Or I don’t, I don’t even know what people really Yeah.
[01:03:26] Aaron: What their concerns are. But clearly you had also concerns.
[01:03:29] Brad: Yeah.
[01:03:30] Aaron: Right. So, mm-hmm. What do you think is the biggest thing from stopping people to be like, Hey, let me just come in and.
[01:03:36] Brad: Yeah. Well, I mean, obviously there’s a lot of false data, like a lot of false information floating around. Like there’s, there’s false information about me floating around.
[01:03:44] Brad: Mm-hmm. Probably about you. Mm-hmm. About like, there’s other people who are just hanging out with, or there’s false information floating around about them. Realize that there’s people who like, get a kick out of just messing things up.
[01:03:55] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[01:03:56] Brad: Just making, just like, like making things bad. Yep. You [01:04:00] know? So those people, they literally get paid to make things bad like that.
[01:04:04] Brad: That’s one thing that I would say. The other thing is, like, when I first walked into Tampa, I was very like on guard. ’cause I had gotten some of that, like, bad information, frankly. And I was like, oh, what’s gonna happen? Da da da. And so when the pers when the lady was like, yeah, so there’s a course, it’ll, it’ll take you a week or two to do it.
[01:04:20] Brad: It’s 50 bucks. I was like, that’s it.
[01:04:23] Aaron: Yeah.
[01:04:23] Brad: I thought you were gonna ask me for like 50,000 bucks. 50 bucks. I was like, you got the sequence of the universe and you’re giving me for 50 bucks. Come on, let’s go. Yeah.
[01:04:31] Aaron: Yeah.
[01:04:31] Brad: That’s actually what it is, is it’s like they have the secrets to life. That you’re not gonna find anywhere else.
[01:04:37] Brad: And it’s like 50 bucks, a hundred. Like, it’s like the intro courses, like that’s all the, all the ex like crazy stuff. It’s all there in, in those intro courses. That’s what I found in it. Mm-hmm. That’s whats, that’s what’s true for me. But, um, yeah, I mean, I think, like, what I would say to people is for me, uh, I formed my own [01:05:00] opinion by going and looking for myself.
[01:05:02] Aaron: Mm.
[01:05:02] Brad: So that’s what I always encourage people to do is like, don’t take somebody, don’t even take my word for it. Go look for yourself.
[01:05:08] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[01:05:08] Brad: Like, if you’re interested, go see what it is. See with your own two eyes, like drive by, is the building nice?
[01:05:16] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[01:05:16] Brad: Like, do the people look happy? Is it a calm environment?
[01:05:21] Brad: Like if that, if all those are checked, like are they actually inviting you in or trying to keep you out? Hmm. It’s like, these are all kind of like, data’s like if you walk in, they’re like, Hey, can I help you? Or they’re like, what do you want? You know what I mean? Like, that’s, that’s like an indicator. When I walked in, they were like, Hey, who are so happy you’re here?
[01:05:39] Brad: Who are you? Okay, sign in right here, please. They’re like, are you here to see somebody? I’m like, ah, I think I have a tour. They’re like, oh, you’re gonna be, you’re probably with Jennifer. I’ll get her to come over. Mm-hmm. It was like boom. Like service oriented. Right. And I walked in to the, to the Tampa, Oregon.
[01:05:52] Brad: I was like, this is really nice. I was like, this is kind of impressive in here. Like, ’cause I do construction. Oh, right. That place is like,
[01:05:59] Aaron: oh [01:06:00] wow.
[01:06:00] Brad: The construction is really impressive in there. So I walk in and I’m like, this is like a four or five, $6 million building right here. Mm-hmm. What is going on with this?
[01:06:09] Brad: I’m like, there are these all over the country, all over the world.
[01:06:13] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[01:06:13] Brad: And are all of them this big? So like, there, you know, not, not all the churches are that. There’s some like small groups, there’s some really big ones. But I, I would tell people to just go look for yourself. Like, get a book and actually read the book for yourself.
[01:06:28] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[01:06:29] Brad: And just decide like, do you agree with it or not?
[01:06:32] Aaron: Absolutely. Now, did you know any Scientologists before?
[01:06:36] Brad: No.
[01:06:36] Aaron: This, you never like met a someone they said, Hey, wasn’t a buddy give you a book?
[01:06:40] Brad: Nope.
[01:06:41] Aaron: He said, this guy. Oh, no, he gave you a Grant Cardones book.
[01:06:43] Brad: Mm-hmm.
[01:06:43] Aaron: Oh, so the buddy that showed you a grant own book?
[01:06:45] Aaron: No.
[01:06:45] Brad: He’s not a Scientologist. No. He sent, he sent me a Grant Cardone video.
[01:06:47] Aaron: Oh,
[01:06:48] Brad: yeah. No, he’s a Christian. He’s a very devout Christian. Okay,
[01:06:50] Aaron: okay.
[01:06:50] Brad: Very ethical dude. Like, I respect, respect. I really respect that guy.
[01:06:53] Aaron: Wow.
[01:06:53] Brad: Yeah.
[01:06:55] Aaron: Okay. So you didn’t know any Scientology ever in
[01:06:56] Brad: your life? Zero. Wow. Zero.
[01:06:58] Aaron: Wow.
[01:06:58] Brad: Which, which [01:07:00] just candidly, so like, one, one thing that I obviously I’m very passionate about, like, we’re here doing this, is like letting more people know that Scientology actually exists.
[01:07:08] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[01:07:08] Brad: And also that it’s not, uh, contrary or, uh, exclusive.
[01:07:14] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[01:07:14] Brad: Like, there, there’s this weird idea floating around that Scientology is somehow exclusive. It’s not, it like LH made Scientology for the common man. Mm-hmm. It’s literally for, there’s a book called The Problems of Work to help people who are at the bottom rung of the corporate ladder get by better at their job and actually either rise the corporate ladder or learn how to own the corporate ladder.
[01:07:36] Brad: Like LRH made Scientology to empower the masses, right? So, so that the world can actually have like a, a peaceful, uh, you know, growth rather than some terrible revolution. Which is kind of like if you look at politics, maybe what we’re like going towards with, with psychology and, and everything that’s the, the current order of like, of mental [01:08:00] health.
[01:08:00] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[01:08:00] Brad: Right. It’s literally like a, Hey, let’s go this other way with mental health, which is peaceful and actually helps people and actually gets results. Not this crazy where, where people get more angry and more upset and worse in health.
[01:08:12] Aaron: Yeah.
[01:08:12] Brad: Right. So I forget how I got on that.
[01:08:16] Aaron: That’s fine.
[01:08:17] Brad: Yeah.
[01:08:17] Aaron: So.
[01:08:18] Aaron: What is the most surprising thing that you noticed in Scientology after you started being there?
[01:08:29] Brad: So the most surprising thing is I have never seen, I, I have seen people, um, I’ve never seen an upset, like angry person inside a church of Scientology.
[01:08:41] Aaron: Wow.
[01:08:41] Brad: Never once, four years. Hu like thousands of hours walking around. I go, I go away almost every single day.
[01:08:50] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[01:08:51] Brad: For, for a long periods of time. I, I’ve been going every single day for long, you know, months at a time, like knocking out mm-hmm.
[01:08:57] Brad: Different services and courses and stuff. I’ve [01:09:00] never seen somebody upset.
[01:09:00] Aaron: That’s great.
[01:09:01] Brad: I’ve definitely never seen a staff member upset. Right. Somebody who actually like volunteers or, or works at a Church of Scientology. Um, that’s probably the most surprising thing is the, the, there’s no, uh, what we would call mis emotion.
[01:09:14] Brad: Right. Because why I, if you’re helping people. And you’re helping them in the most important way, which is helping them, uh, basically improve the mind and the spirit and their condition as beings. Why would there be any reason for upset in that environment?
[01:09:29] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[01:09:30] Brad: There’s none, there’s no logical reason for upset to exist, and it doesn’t exist in that environment.
[01:09:34] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[01:09:36] Brad: So the, the, and the, the funniest thing, not surprising, but funny, and I’ve learned that this just occurs whenever anybody’s successful in anything, is the amount of, uh, you know, negative news that it gets, dude, it’s, it’s, it’s funny to me at this point, like, I just, I just learned, I just learned that, um, you know, Caesar Milan, the dog whisperer, you know who that is?[01:10:00]
[01:10:00] Aaron: Yeah, yeah.
[01:10:01] Brad: Had a show. National, national Geographic
[01:10:02] Aaron: bit. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:10:03] Brad: So I used to watch. That showed the dog whisper as a kid, me and my sisters watched it religiously. Ev like anytime it was on, we would watch the dog whisper. We watched it every day after school. So I love, I love that guy. Like, we would literally go around the, he does like the ch thing to dogs.
[01:10:17] Brad: Mm. Me and my sisters would do that to each other, like around the house. And I just found out Caesar, so Caesar Milan the guy, he has a huge, uh, basically like the news, like, has been like lambasting him. It means like, um, you know, like criticizing, he’s like criticizing him harshly for like almost a decade now.
[01:10:39] Brad: Hmm. Just like freaking beating him up in the news. And I realized, I was like, I, I, when I saw it, I was so surprised. I was like, what Caesar Milan, like this guy, if you watch him in his show, he is, he is a, he, he’s not a Scientologist that, so, so far as I know, um, I know he’s friends with some, some very high level Scientologist, but he, if you watch him in the show, he’s a, um.[01:11:00]
[01:11:01] Brad: You can tell he’s a spiritual person. Mm. In the show. And this is, you know, 20 years ago or you know, 15 years ago. But he’s the most calm, like, centered, uh, you know, how would you say? Like, TRS in like, just like very clean communication. Yeah. Very calm in his communication. Stays, stays, you know, within, you know, boom.
[01:11:22] Brad: In, in his calm space. Mm-hmm. Like no matter what’s happening, dogs freaking out. He’s like, you know, never breaks. And I’m like, wow, that’s a very impressive person. And so it now makes sense for me that he would get attacked. A lot of attacked. Yeah. Because news organizations. They survive, they think, by the way, they’re, they’re done.
[01:11:43] Brad: Like Elon Musk ended them.
[01:11:45] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[01:11:45] Brad: But they’re done. But they think that they survive based on tearing others down.
[01:11:50] Aaron: Yeah.
[01:11:50] Brad: But actually that has been their ultimate undoing because you do it to the wrong person. Eventually, eventually you do it to somebody who has the power, Trump or Elon to show [01:12:00] that what they’re saying isn’t true.
[01:12:01] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[01:12:01] Brad: What they’ve been doing is they, they went to, they tried to go, they flew too close to the sun. Mm-hmm. They tried to take out the top dog. Mm-hmm. Trump and Elon. Mm-hmm. Right. And these guys have the, the wherewithal to show, Hey, this actually isn’t true. And enough people listen to them that they’re like, you lied.
[01:12:15] Brad: And now it’s like, what else have you been lying about? So now the whole thing is coming unraveled for them. Like the legacy media is done.
[01:12:21] Aaron: Yeah.
[01:12:21] Brad: We are the media now. This, this is now the media.
[01:12:25] Aaron: Yep.
[01:12:25] Brad: Yeah.
[01:12:26] Aaron: I remember, uh, for one time, I, uh, this just reminds me.
[01:12:31] Mm-hmm.
[01:12:32] Aaron: I started Scientology and like when I was in it for maybe, I dunno, two, three years, a bit in, and I was going around and I went to like delivering a po a post office thing to the post office.
[01:12:42] Aaron: And there was, uh, a very famous newscaster guy, and he’s like literal on tv. He’s like, Scientology is dangerous. I was like,
[01:12:50] Brad: really?
[01:12:51] Aaron: Yeah.
[01:12:52] Brad: Wow.
[01:12:52] Aaron: I was shocked. I’m like, did what? What do you I’d been in this thing for many years and like got [01:13:00] rid of like I, my entire life changed so much for the better. Yeah. And the people around me and then I go like, what is it?
[01:13:07] Aaron: He’s not even actually saying anything. Like there were danger. It isn’t even saying the, the thing is the news are so smart mm-hmm. At using their words because a lot of times they’re not doing what’s called like blatant lying.
[01:13:20] Brad: Mm-hmm.
[01:13:20] Aaron: It’s just deceptive.
[01:13:21] Brad: Mm-hmm.
[01:13:22] Aaron: So like, I don’t know, you could say for, let’s just say, uh, you say, Hey, walking on the street is.
[01:13:32] Aaron: I mean, it’s not a lie. Like anything you do in the world is like if you walk, if you walk, if you walk on the sidewalk, you could get hit by a car.
[01:13:39] Brad: Drinking water is dangerous.
[01:13:42] Aaron: Yeah. It all you, it is. I mean,
[01:13:42] Brad: seven people a year die from drinking water. Exactly. They drown in their own water.
[01:13:48] Aaron: It doesn’t really mean anything.
[01:13:49] Aaron: And then there’s levels, you know what I mean? Like Okay, cool. Uh, so the things that they say if you, once you start paying attention mm-hmm. And actually, uh, I mean, I did a course, you might have done it, [01:14:00] but one of the, the exercises you do in the course
[01:14:03] Brad: mm-hmm.
[01:14:03] Aaron: Is you actually, you read like what’s logic and what all the stuff that makes logic and what makes like no logic or iLogic.
[01:14:10] Brad: Yeah.
[01:14:10] Aaron: And then you literally like, I’m on,
[01:14:11] Brad: I’m on
[01:14:12] Aaron: that page. Oh, you’re on that one. Okay, good. So you literally take that and then you open up the newspaper and then you look and read with like an eye to see, and you go, these guys are insane.
[01:14:21] Brad: Yeah. They’re actually insane.
[01:14:23] Aaron: They’re, they’re, they’re actually insane.
[01:14:24] Aaron: Like some of the stuff that’s coming out is so. So bizarre.
[01:14:28] Brad: Yeah.
[01:14:28] Aaron: And I will tell, I mean, I’m kinda answering my own question here, but like that’s what surprised me the most.
[01:14:33] Brad: Mm-hmm.
[01:14:33] Aaron: Is that like, how in the world can these media people do what they’re doing?
[01:14:40] Brad: Yeah.
[01:14:41] Aaron: And it’s, so much of their funding comes from people who want other scared.
[01:14:45] Brad: Yeah.
[01:14:47] Aaron: And
[01:14:47] Brad: if you know what I mean, it’s like, well, well most of their funding comes from drug companies. Yeah. Which the, you know what’s funny drug companies, the, um, the supposed like, you know how recently people, it’s been coming out that drug [01:15:00] companies fund news stations so that they won’t criticize them on there.
[01:15:03] Aaron: Right, right.
[01:15:04] Brad: I actually, from my viewpoint, that’s actually a cover. Right. That’s a, that’s a plausible, that’s, that’s like a. Okay. If, if this is a good, and this is like really, really bad, they went to like here.
[01:15:16] Aaron: Mm.
[01:15:17] Brad: Right. It’s like it’s bad, but it’s not quite bad enough that they’re gonna really get blown up.
[01:15:20] Brad: Right. It’s like, okay, that’s logical. I get it. They’re just being smart, but it’s not true. It’s like, that’s part of the truth.
[01:15:27] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[01:15:28] Brad: But the full truth is if, if you just look at it like, um, I always notice this whenever the NFL is play mm-hmm. Is in season. Mm-hmm. ’cause I use the NFL app and I freaking, I’m cheap so I don’t pay for it.
[01:15:39] Brad: So I, I get commercials, but I’m usually like watching it while I’m driving around or whatever. So I hear the commercials, they literally are advertising illness into existence
[01:15:49] Aaron: mm-hmm.
[01:15:50] Brad: On a continual basis. Mm-hmm. That’s the truth. They take something that’s not even a thing.
[01:15:55] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[01:15:55] Brad: Like, and some of the stuff that they talk about is [01:16:00] like, you know, there’s one that I wanna bring up, but it’s kind of inappropriate.
[01:16:04] Aaron: Okay. Okay.
[01:16:04] Brad: But, but they literally are like advertising in. Illness and convincing people that things that are actually have nothing to do with taking a pill can be solved by taking a pill.
[01:16:18] Aaron: Yep.
[01:16:19] Brad: And like that’s, that’s the, the real why. So this, this partial why of like, their, their advertising so that the news channels won’t criticize them on air.
[01:16:29] Aaron: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
[01:16:30] Brad: It’s part of the way there, but it actually assumes that they actually want a good outcome. And the truth is that large pharmaceutical companies actually are not interested in a good outcome. Like, it’s not actually important. Like you, you, you can look at people like that versus you can look at people like Bob Duggan, Scientologist
[01:16:50] Aaron: mm-hmm.
[01:16:51] Brad: Who actually funds,
[01:16:54] Aaron: uh, I mean, he has a drug company,
[01:16:55] Brad: right? He has a drug company. And the purpose of that drug company is to cure [01:17:00] disease. Yep. And he’s actually, he does cure disease. Mm-hmm. Like uncurable illnesses, like real physical maladies of the body, not mental shit.
[01:17:09] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[01:17:09] Brad: Actual physiological, physiological malfunction.
[01:17:14] Brad: He actually develops things that handles that. That’s what medicine is supposed to do.
[01:17:17] Aaron: Mm-hmm.
[01:17:17] Brad: Right? Is it’s like handle the, the body, the mind is something else, right? Mm-hmm. If you just take electroshock and condense it into a pill, that’s not a handling for the body. You know, you are actually condensing a, a terrible thing for the mind and putting it in a pill
[01:17:32] Aaron: Yep.
[01:17:32] Brad: And then giving it to somebody. Yeah. We could pro we’ll, we’ll have a lot of
[01:17:36] Aaron: sense
[01:17:36] Brad: on that.
[01:17:38] Aaron: At, at the end of the day, at the end of the day, the drug companies
[01:17:43] Brad: mm-hmm.
[01:17:45] Aaron: Lobbied and made it possible mm-hmm. In the United States to actually push and promote on tv these illnesses that happened in 1978, which could
[01:17:53] Brad: change.
[01:17:53] Aaron: Yeah. If that changes. We’re gonna be on, we’re gonna be on the up and up like hardcore because Yeah. That, that is prob anyway,
[01:17:58] Brad: people
[01:17:59] Aaron: will, that’s really
[01:17:59] Brad: will [01:18:00] miraculously start recovering.
[01:18:01] Aaron: We should have, we should
[01:18:02] Brad: have a like, no joke.
[01:18:03] Aaron: Yeah.
[01:18:03] Brad: They would actually st people would start getting better.
[01:18:05] Aaron: Yeah.
[01:18:05] Brad: If that was, if that was ended.
[01:18:06] Aaron: Yep. We should, this is, this is a good topic for one of our next episodes. Yeah. Which I, I really do want to talk about this because, uh, I have had, uh, some really crazy experiences on this and I’m sure you know many people and so we’ll, we’ll, we’ll, we’ll table that. Yeah. ’cause now, I mean, look, you’ve gone over your story.
[01:18:22] Brad: Yeah.
[01:18:22] Aaron: Uh, part of it obviously there’s like so much more. Uh, I’d love to read a book when you, when you, uh, release one. Uh, I’m working on writing a book myself. Yeah, dude, you have to your story, look at all the best people.
[01:18:32] Brad: Yeah.
[01:18:32] Aaron: They all have a message and they put it in a book.
[01:18:34] Brad: That’s right.
[01:18:34] Aaron: Because like podcast school, social media, school, but like, when you really sit down and get into in-depth ideas in the book is like the best, best format.
[01:18:42] Aaron: That’s right. Uh, I’d love to, whenever you have a book, bro, I promise you I will read it. Okay. Just letting you know.
[01:18:47] Brad: Thank
[01:18:47] Aaron: you. And um, dude, it’s been great like hearing your story. Yeah. And if there’s, if there’s any questions, guys. How would people find you to just ask questions like, Hey mayor, I need help with this, or I want, I dunno.
[01:18:57] Aaron: Help me with my construction business. Yeah. Or help me with, uh, you know, have [01:19:00] this relationship I have that I’m not happy. I don’t know. I dunno what people were talking about. Maybe no one’s gonna write to you, but how would they find you?
[01:19:04] Brad: Yeah, just find me on Instagram. So if you just search Brad Bash, I’m super easy to find.
[01:19:08] Brad: I think my handle is home. Love Brad right now. ’cause I’m all in. Boom.
[01:19:12] Aaron: On
[01:19:12] Brad: home love.
[01:19:13] Aaron: Yeah. And then if you need any renovations, guys, this episode is sponsored by Brad Baan, uh, bashing, uh, home love construction. Okay. In the uh, Pinellas County area.
[01:19:21] Brad: Thank you.
[01:19:21] Aaron: So awesome guys. That’s it. Appreciate
