So many movies depict wealthy people as grumpy, mean or outright evil. Think of Scrooge, or other characters such as The Green Goblin, make one thing that money corrupts everything.

However, the very idea that making money is bad is created by people who do not want you as competition. People who are afraid of others doing well and being successful will tout how terrible it is to work hard, or to be rich, and how money is the root of all evil – However in a Biblical sense, Timothy 6:10, states, “The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil”.

When I read this, it matches VERY CLOSELY to Hubbard in the book, Scientology 0-8: The Book of Basics, “Motivation Scale” wherein Mr. Hubbard shows how the lowest motivation there is, is money.

If we examine this closer, money for money’s sake or to love money for itself is really an irrational idea. If you were stranded on an island alone, money would be utterly useless unless as toilet paper maybe.

BUT, in today’s world if you have a high level of motivation and purpose and DUTY– you probably need money to achieve your goals. For example, if you want to change the youth of the future generations and get them to not do drugs, you would need to fund the creation of videos, materials, booklets and educational material for teachers so we can teach the next generation to not be on such heavy drugs… WELL – that takes money and that is exactly what the church does in it’s Dissemination and Distribution Center & Scientology Media Productions.

In today’s world of technology, money is needed to make a lot of things happen. Below you will find a video that accurately talks about the intention of Mr. Hubbard for all people, to “Flourish and Prosper” and the prosper part of that is defined by Merriam-Webster Dictionary as Prosper: “to succeed in an enterprise or activity; especially : to achieve economic success.”.

If you see the video you will see how this ties in with other types of success. Fortunately or unfortunately, today most people feed their family and themselves with food purchased with money. If you grow your own food and can sustain yourself, all the more power to you, just know that someone bought that land, the seeds, etc.

Making money is not evil, but if you for example profit from Electric Shock “Therapy” aka ECT, then for sure making that money is evil. But if you make a living out of building homes for people, you are providing shelter and protection for families — how could that be bad? In essence, the senior guiding principle is your sense of DUTY. What is your responsibility to yourself, your family, your groups & Mankind — and if you work that out, often you need money to do big things. So you do worthwhile activities that also pay – that is a winning formula and I subscribe to this idea personally.
