If you’re here, welcome, some anti-Scientologists have for sure told lies about us, as “fair game” was cancelled in 1968. No one at the Church reads, follows and honestly, unless they have been trying to find out about Scientology online, would even know what it is.
If you come into Scientology and talks with Scientologists at any Church on earth, NONE of them use, or even have copies of any text, scripture, policy, book etc that even have the words “fair game” in them.
The official website talks about this very clearly that it is not used by anyone at the Church.

The explanation of what it was, is very clear “apostate members could not seek protection or refuge under the Church’s internal ethics or justice codes.” To put this into simpler language: there are some things which church members receive as part of being part of the church, FOR EXAMPLE, a Scientologist cannot sue another Scientologist without first attempting to resolve the matter using mediation within the umbrella of the Church. If we’re all on one team, why not try to settle arguments with communication and meeting, rather than lawsuit. “Fair Game” would have referred to the fact that if you leave the church, you can no longer have the protection of not being sued by a Scientologist. It’s not a very complex idea, when you become a Scientologist, you’re part of the group and are part of the brotherhood, friendship etc. If the person leaves Scientology then, well, you’re not prohibited from suing them, aka “fair game”.
Well, truth it, anyone can sue anyone. For sure in the United States, and most countries of earth you have the right to sue people. So fair game would only mean you can treat the person like any other person in the world. For whatever reason, people love to make things up and for some reason this word can get people to be quite upset. It hasn’t been used since 1968 and back then it was just as is above.
It could be summed up as: “If you’re no longer a Scientologist or now publicly attack Scientologists or leave the Church in a press release… you’re not considered a Scientologist.” Really means almost nothing, as the person themselves are rejecting Scientology they don’t want the brotherhood of Scientology, so in the end it means nothing.
