The International Association of Scientologists convenes every year at a very large gathering, typically in October, each year celebrating the big wins and successes of Scientologists around the world.
The event typically centers around the overall goals of Scientology as covered in the “Aims of Scientology” [link] which reads, in part “A civilization without insanity, without criminals and without war”. The Church has several ways it tackles and aims to achieve these goals. The broadest zones it focuses on are covered in it’s “How we Help: Global Humanitarian Initiatives” page these are:
The Way to Happiness; Applies Scholastics; Criminon (Criminal Reform); Narconon (Drug Rehabilitation); Drug-Free World (Truth About Drugs Education); Human Rights Education; Mental Health Reform (Exposing Psychiatric Abuse); Volunteer Ministers; Freedom Magazine (creating activists) and well of course the main activity of Churches of Scientology which is enabling people to travel the Bridge to Total Freedom which encourages others to participate in the before-mentioned programs.
Each year, a handful (usually 3) of the most stellar individuals achieving the Aims of Scientology and further the purpose of the IAS are acknowledged personally in a display of the achievements of each individual, their teams and everyone working on the projects that they are spearheading. In the event, there are many other individuals acknowledged for their work and contributions, and many of the people who have been helped also speak as the beneficiaries of these actions. You’ll hear typically stories of people who have been taken off drugs and their lives saved, or someone who has been rescured from s*x human trafficing, or a child saved from forced institutionalization and drugging, etc.
Here are some of the expemplary indivduals who show what is at the heart of being a Scientologist: to provide indiscriminate help:
Steve Green of Auckland, New Zealand for exposing psychiatric crimes
Mario Chirinos of Venezuela, for educating youth on the dangers of drugs
Yuzuru Ogura of Japan for rescuing victims of psychiatric abuse
Alfreddie Johnson for bringing literacy to millions
Raul Arias of Mexico, who was interviewed by us on the Don’t Do Nothing Podcast about educating youth about Human Rights and saving victims from abuse
The winners in 2024 (Covered in this press release) were:
Giovanni Citterio of Milan, Italy
Vincenza Palmieri of Rome, Italy
Antónia and Ferenc Novák, of Budapest, Hungary
If you’re going to judge Scientology based on what people do, and who they are… Look at these people and see their impact on the world. They have been bestowed the highest honor that exists in the Church of Scientology for being a juggernaut of change and a beacon of hope. If more people were like these heroes, the world would be a true heaven.
