What’s amazing about attacks on the Church of Scientology is that they are so outlandish, that when the truthful information is shown, it’s clear to see that the attackers (funded by Big Pharma and other enemies of spirituality) are financially motivated and thus their attacks are not based in truth and are founded from desperate attempts to get people to not trust what Scientologists say, particularly in our documentaries on mental health.
Nearly all religions are targeting for one reason or another, because they bring people up. Truly we, as a society, have become civilized through the teachings of religion. And nearly all religions have been targeted in one way or another.
There is a resource that covers most of the big lies regarding my religion on the STAND League website. As an insider, I can readily identify what rumors are so far from the truth and when there might be valid criticism (at the end of the day we are all human). So I’d like to share some of the major ones.
What is disconnection in Scientology?
The rumor that the church was made for profits this one is quite interesting as inside the Church all you find are selfless people at every level, all the way at the top. If you truly see how much your personal viewpoint can change, and you believe the entire world can change because one person had such a huge 180 shift, it’s beyond clear the intentions are fully humanitarian, but for those that need clarification, the article above does a great job.
Regarding the origins of Mankind & the universe – this one is one of the most trite. Literally the things people say regarding “What Scientologists believe” are so wild, I’ve been in the Church for 20 years and the only time I ever hear these crazy stories are from non-Scientologists.
One of my favorite ones is when people talk about the “RPF” as it is a program done by Sea Org members, and when I was in the Sea Org I recall that people who had done it honestly were some of my role models and were so productive (and happy), and I asked many of them about it, and honestly I found it to be quite appealing. The article above describe it very well, but my first hand experience in meeting people on it was another level – the before and after stories were quite drastic – and the program seems to be really really effective.
The Church has been extensively audited by the IRS and has been conclusively been proven that the activities are non-profit in nature and rightfully fully tax exempt. No Church leaders have gotten wealthy from the religion.
If you have any questions or piece that you want to see if they are truthful – leave a comment and I can show you if I know any piece of information that can show it to not be true.
