Tad Reeves has had a very successful blog all about raising kids while being a Scientologist. He’s been spearheading answering questions about Scientology for over a decade and has been one of the inspirations of why I started this website.
By day, Tad leads a very successful career in software engineering, and has worked for such giants as Rackspace & Nike. However his shining accomplishment is in that of raising his children with understanding and clarity.
In my life, I have normally been a computer nerd and did not spend a lot of time outdoors, doing cool stuff outside. Tad here is also a computer geek, but also is a hardcode mountain biker and has taught his kids how to connect to the great outdoors. Something that I still strive to do.
As Scientologists, there are many things that my children and Tad’s will share in common — we both have shared The Way to Happiness with our children, common sense values that work for anyone. We both believe that being industrious (continually and dedicated working at something) is very important; that respecting the religious beliefs of others is absolutely vital in life; that you should try to treat others the way you’d like to be treated. Sometimes it doesn’t take a huge change in your life to make it a bit better – all you have to do is apply some simple bits of wisdom and things get better.
Scientology is about figuring out how to do things a bit better, and learning about yourself so you can achieve bigger goals and have happiness for yourself and others. Being a parent is a huge responsibility, and is a huge part of life and expanding your zone of influence further than your own physical life right now, and I’m very happy and grateful to all parents who raise their kids with good values.
And above all, of course I am thankful to my own parents for bringing me here. We all can show more gratitude to those people keeping life alive by continuing the cycle of birth and death through new life.
