Your life will be forever changed.
For me, it was the first time I REALLY KNEW the future of someone was up to me. My responsibility. I’m the bread winner of the family, but also the leader to decide where we’re going and how to keep the unit inspired.
My understanding of what it means to be a “good example” fully transformed. My actions at work, at home, in the morning, in the night are watched by the little ones. Whether I’m in a good mood because I had a great day at work or if I had a failure and didn’t fix it — all
If it would reflect on our child.
Little things that one might shrug off as “harmless” — such as not completing a task that was due, not embracing my wife or daughter appropriately due to “being tired” or some other excuse, etc. I could see the effect.
There was no longer any excuse I could give to myself or my wife why it was OK to not have enough $ to pay for things we needed or wanted.
This was the time to grow up. The time to be the person I believe my child and future other children could look up to.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about life is that you are miserable when you focus fully and only on yourself. And when you are doing things to help someone else, that’s when you really are happy — even something as simply watching a movie brings so much more happiness when it’s a reward for having done a great job that day or week. When I had a terrible day and tell myself you’ll forget your problems with a movie – it’s hardly ever really enjoyed because I know I should be doing something else.
I’m only at the beginning of this journey with my children now at ages: 10, 7, 3 & 1. However I now know how vital this part of life is, as I can really see how excuses don it feed my children, blaming a school system won’t make them bright, blaming the government doesn’t change their manners or productivity. It gives you a good hard look at everything you do because immediately you can see a result of what YOU DO.
And of course it starts with getting rid of the “reasons” you may have for not being ready for children. Too often couples take too long to “be ready” then they’re too old and not fertile enough and miss your chance.
You’re never ready for children – the children come and make YOU ready. You become transformed by them. The right time to have children is right away.
